Weekly Photo Challenge: Warmth – Tangy staying warm under a blanket

One looks back with appreciation to the brilliant teachers, but with gratitude to those who touched our human feelings. The curriculum is so much necessary raw material, but warmth is the vital element for the growing plant and for the soul of the child. Carl Jung

Stay Warm: Happy Holidays and New Year Blessings to all! If you had checked out this post earlier, you would have noticed a different layout. I decided to change the photos around and post what I actually felt exemplified warmth in a logical order. Our cat, Tangy, loves the company of humans and warm blankets. If you knew him well, you’d know he loves anything cozy, comfy and warm. The two shots above, show him doing what he loves best; cuddled up in the warmth of one of our arms, with a touch of sunlight streaming in, and hiding under the warmth of a blanket. Another thing he loves to do is lie in front of the heat vents… He is definitely an island cat.

“Sometimes I light incense and a candle. It’s so peaceful and quiet. The steadiness of the energy and the reliability of the warmth have a calming effect.” Cindy Williams

Weekly Photo Challenge: Warmth – The warmth of a raging fireplace

In our open society, we are inclined to give to the less fortunate for the pure goodness of giving. We open our home to those who are alone on this holiday to spread some warmth into the life of another.
Jeff Miller

Light a Candle: I find the gentle glow of a lit candle both comforting and heartwarming. I like having candles lit in my room and on the dining table, and l have a nice collection of very pretty candle holders and candles. I sometimes wonder if the attraction has something to do with my Catholic upbringing and the calming warmth of candles on the altar. What do you think? The fireplace is another area where we find warmth in a home. I love to look at burning embers while sitting nearby … and imagine distant, warm vacation spots. Lit fireplaces bring us feelings of warmth in many ways; roasting chestnuts, marshmallows or even just enjoying the fire while sipping a cup of hot tea or cider. Perfect.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Warmth – Tangy in a fav position under a warm blanket

We learn our virtues from our friends who love us; our faults from the enemy who hates us. We cannot easily discover our real character from a friend. He is a mirror, on which the warmth of our breath impedes the clearness of the reflection. Jean Paul

Happy Holidays!
Enjoy the warmth: The warm, golden glow of the object in the first shot above is from a rock lamp. lt had a soothing impact on the space it occupied. I took that shot at a retreat I attended a few years ago; it gave the meditation room a warm ambiance and a glow that made you want to curl up and go to sleep. It’s ironic that we are writing about warmth while it’s pretty cold outside. We are in the throes of fall, heading into winter, so all our warmth will be inside. If you happen to visit any of the warm islands or any warmer states, do send us some warmth and sunshine. Thank you. Happy Holidays and New Year Blessings to all!

My fellow bloggers were equally creative with their selections. Check out how others interpreted the theme below.

This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post: Weekly Photo Challenge: Warmth  This week, let’s keep things nice and cozy. Show us your take on warmth. You can go from the literal (saunas! scarves! steaming cups of tea!) to the figurative (the embrace of family members coming together for the holidays, the look of affection on your pet’s face, or even just a photo with a particularly warm color palette, no matter its subject matter).

Positive Motivation Tip: When we think of warmth, hugs from loved ones, blankets, lit fireplaces, and hot mugs of tea come to mind. Stay open to the warmth around you … even a smile exudes warmth.

Warmth is so much warmer inside when the cold is raging outside. Cupcake is a blanket cuddler, like Tangy.

My physical warmth comes from my lovely new electric blanket. My internal warmth comes from my children.

Lovely shots of Tangy under the warm blankets and in the arm of someone he loves; cats know where to find the best spots for comfort!

Baby, my cat, does not like being under covers–but she loves being ON something warm and cuddly. Right now she is sleeping on my fake down quilt-oblivious to the world (until I get up from this desk!)

Ooh, I think my favorite source of warmth would be a nice warm fireplace to cozy up to. My husband and I had one at our apartment last year and it was the best! Missing it on these cold winter days.

I agree with “Home, more than anything, means warmth and bed.” I love my house and thats where I feel the most comfortable and warm. Family by my side makes it perfect to cuddle during the winter days.

I loved the last tip about staying open to the warmth around you. I think it’s important to be around warm people as well, and to share that warmth with others. 🙂
