Twinkle, twinkle, little star by Jane Taylor (1783–1824)
Twinkle, twinkle, little star,
How I wonder what you are.
Up above the world so high,

One thing I love about the holiday season is all the sparkling, twinkling lights that we see everywhere. I love driving around my neighborhood and admiring the great effort some families put into their front yard lights. One favorite thing I love to do every year, ans I am not alone on this one, is to go to Rockefeller Center, Bryant Park, and the neighboring midtown streets, to admire the twinkling lights. That is what I’ve chosen to share for this wonderful, perfect holiday season assignment.

Then the traveller in the dark,
Thanks you for your tiny spark,
He could not see which way to go,
If you did not twinkle so.

In the dark blue sky you keep,
And often through my curtains peep,

As I added my photos, all that kept playing in my mind was Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. Enjoy the rest. Happy Holidays!

This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post: Weekly Photo Challenge: Twinkle This week, share with us your photos of twinkling light. You will need to find a light source and a reflective surface in order to capture a twinkle, but those are the only limitations. Your photo could be the sparkle of an ornament, as in the photo I’ve shared. Perhaps it is a crisp catchlight in the eyes of a loved one, or the millions of twinkles in the waves of a body of water as a sunrise’s first rays appear. Maybe you’d like to try your hand at nighttime photography, and capture the sparkle of stars. Where there is light, there will be a twinkle.

 

Positive Motivation Tip: Those we hold dear in our hearts are always near to comfort us and make us smile… They may be gone but they are never forgotten. Keep the flame of love alive.

    What a truly beautiful tree! And what a nice concept for photography. Sigh I wish my iPhone can take good pictures at night. I haven’t seen a tree that huge around here yet, though, but I’m sure there’s one I haven’t seen yet. When I finally get my hands on a real camera, I shall go searching for twinkles.

    This is great, I learn that twinkle twinkle song when i was 5 years old. I like the way you relate the poems with the pictures. Pictures are beautiful and so are the poems.

    Such a lovely post! We will be trying to see the beautiful twinkling lights of NYC Christmas week. Love Bryant Park. It’s not as crowded as Rockefeller and it’s fun to watch the ice skaters.

    We are actually putting up our tree this weekend 🙂 And lights outside. One of my favorite things to do is drive around and look at the lights.

    We also decorated our Christmas tree at home. My kids wanted to arrange it with little shining red angels instead of crystal balls so it looks marvelous now. Love your pics, they are full of light and totally in tune with my Christmas mood.

    Beautiful photos! This is my favorite time of year and I love the twinkling lights. My grandmother use to pile me and my cousins in the car and take us on a drive from town to town, to see the beautiful bright lights!

    I love this time of year as well and love all the lights too. Our family takes drives every few days in the evening to see all the decorations and lights. These pictures are so pretty.

    That Bryant Park tree is something else. Love that they did it up in red, white and blue. I also like seeing the lights in NYC during the season but I won’t have the time to get in this year. Thanks for sharing.

    Have you tried making wishes upon a Christmas Tree. I did that once in 2011, making the same wish upon every Christmas tree I see and it came true! I thought I will try that again this year to see how it goes!
