“At Try The World, we believe that life is too short to not try everything that’s out in the world. So we created the first subscription program to discover the best gourmet food and cultural finds from across the globe, delivered to your door!” Kat and David Owners,Try The World

Try The World will help you travel the world through fabulous, authentic, gourmet foods made with locally sourced ingredients, and selected by celebrity chefs, artisans, small specialty farmers, and keen world travelers! When I connected with the folk at Try The World, I was excited because I’ve always believed that travel stretches our minds and exposes us to foods, lifestyles, and cultures around the world. “I love dessert. I can’t be guilty about it because I have to taste everything. I experiment.” Martha Stewart

When my Holiday Gift box arrived, I was eager to open it and examine the contents. They didn’t disappoint. My beautiful box was tied with a pretty red bow and the contents were packed in festive red confetti. On top of my gourmet food items, they had added a Holiday Culture Guide, and a two-sided postcard detailing the contents of my box. The holiday culture guide had a sweet holiday greeting message from David and Kat, with food and movie tips, and a recipe for brigadeiro (the national truffle of Brazil) that you can make for the season. I was stoked.

My holiday box contained: a sampling of Urbani Tartufi Italian truffle oil and their cioccolatini dark chocolate; two RipVan Amsterdam waffles (one caramel and one cocoa-filled Dutch waffles) and a box of Dorval Premium collection mint dark chocolate sticks; a sweet-smelling bag of Palais Des Thes French teas and a sizable bag of aromatic Provence Epice Herbes de Provence; a box of delicious Annas Swedish Ginger thins/cookies(described as Sweden’s most loved Pepparkaka!) and Favarger’s luxurious Swiss chocolates rounded out my box. Favarger’s is the most famous chocolatier in Geneva and one of the oldest brands of Swiss chocolate. I unpacked my box and sat still inhaling the delicate smells wafting by my nose.

For a moment, I was transported to every one of those locations and sweet memories filled my mind. Rudyard Kipling was right when he said; “The first condition of understanding a foreign country is to smell it.” Those smells stay with us for a lifetime. A phone call interrupted my morning reverie and I was back home in NY. After the call, I got up, went to the kitchen, and made myself a cup of french tea. I served myself a few ginger thins, warmed up a Dutch waffle, cocoa flavor to be exact, and sat back on the sofa lost in the scrumptious treats and tea. Verdict? DIVINE!

“Once you have traveled, the voyage never ends but is played out over and over again in the quietest chambers. The mind can never break off from the journey.” Pat Conroy

The food products they sent look very good and tempting, and you describe them so well! I wonder how much is a box, looks very expensive too, with the descriptions of the products in the box. I think it may be out of my budget. – Fred
