Excerpt from Becoming Human by Hafiz
Once a man came to me and spoke for hours about
“His great visions of God” he felt he was having
He asked me for confirmation, saying,
“Are these wondrous dreams true?”

I replied, “How many goats do you have?”
He looked surprised and said,
“I am speaking of sublime visions
And you ask
About goats!” Hafiz

What inhabits my dreamscape? What do I find dreamy? In my dreamscape, I find shapes and scenes in foggy weather quite dreamy. They harken back to something old and ancient in the deepest recesses of my being. I am awake in the fog, yet my mind is in a dream like state, inhaling all that gray gloominess… I reach for the sun. Light cheers me up. Often in my dreams, I see bridges and the sea. The waves crashing nearby lull me to sleep, and then, I awaken to the din of traffic outside or the cat calling his friends to stop by and play. I prefer dreamscape to dreamy. You ask why? The word “dreamy” reminds me of Patrick Dempsey not dreams and memory… I wonder why!

“To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.” Anatole France

Excerpt from The Awakening by Rumi
I tried to remember in my heart
what I’d dreamt about
during the night
before I became aware
of this moving
of life

I found my dreams
but the moon took me away
It lifted me up to the firmament
and suspended me there
I saw how my heart had fallen
on your path
singing a song

Once, an elder told me, in my father’s village, that water and bridges take us across the veil from the land of the living to the ancestral realm…. “In a good way”, he intoned, when I expressed alarm. “The water is healing and the bridge assures a return”. What about the ducks? I ask. “They have their place as a backdrop to the life before us. They provide us with beautiful memories in the background of all of life’s challenges. Flowers, nature and love do too”. So enjoy the ducks in the park pond, their role is crucial to our memory…

Never give all the heart by W. B. Yeats, (1865 – 1939)
Never give all the heart, for love
Will hardly seem worth thinking of
To passionate women if it seem
Certain, and they never dream
That it fades out from kiss to kiss;
For everything that’s lovely is
But a brief, dreamy, kind delight…

O never give the heart outright,
For they, for all smooth lips can say,
Have given their hearts up to the play.
And who could play it well enough
If deaf and dumb and blind with love?
He that made this knows all the cost,
For he gave all his heart and lost.via poets.org

I want my dreams to leave me with promises of good to come. Sometimes they do. Other time, they warn me of the travails of life. It is always about balance and perhaps, that’s why dreamy is not part of my vocabulary. I keep thinking of Patrick Dempsey instead of something deeper and more personal… Is he called dreamy or steamy? Whatever.  What inhabits your dreamscape?

This post was inspired by a Daily Post Prompt: Weekly Photo Challenge: DREAMSCAPE   This week, we’d like to see an image that looks dreamy to you. A photo of a place you often visit in dreams. A snapshot of your dreamy boy- or girlfriend. A scene that looks a bit out-of-this world. Take us on a flight of fancy!

Positive Motivation Tip: Our dreams are filled with hopes, wishes and mystery. When you’re ready, the door will open wide for you.

I always remember my dreams, but they are not usually so relaxing. I am usually on some sort of adventure.

Liz said the about having very active dreams… I wonder if this has to do with all the activities that keep us busy in the day time… At least you are on an adventure which sounds like fun to me.

You’ve got some great writing here. We had a big fog yesterday and it really does cause a million thoughts when you’re out and about in it.

Thank you Rosey. The fog only bothers me when I have to drive out of my familiar zone. It can be terrifying too. 🙂
