Reflections: Happy Mother’s Day

11/05/2014

“A mother’s happiness is like a beacon, lighting up the future but reflected also on the past in the guise of fond memories.” Honore de Balzac

Hay House Presents Happy Mother’s Day!

Thank You Mom!
As I Look Back…
As I look back on my life
I find myself wondering…
Did I remember to thank you
for all that you have done for me?
For all of the times you were by my side
to help me celebrate my successes
and accept my defeats?
Or for teaching me the value of hard work,
good judgment, courage, and honesty?
I wonder if I’ve ever thanked you
for the simple things…
The laughter, smiles, and quiet times we’ve shared?
If I have forgotten to express my gratitude
For any of these things,
I am thanking you now…
and I am hoping that you’ve known all along,
how very much you are loved and appreciated.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!  If you live in any of the top 20 nations listed on Save The Children’s Best Places In The World To Be A Mother, you’re ahead of the game. If you live in Finland, Sweden, Norway or other countries on the list, you know your children stand a greater chance of surviving childhood diseases. As much as we gather to celebrate this special day, share our love, our photos, and heartwarming stories of our moms, many moms and kids in our global community live in abysmal conditions.

In our global community, some moms go to bed hungry. Some moms give their children away or watch them die from treatable illnesses. Some moms and their children become casualties of war. Some moms, out of frustration or mental illness, become abusive to their kids. If one mom is unable to fulfill her basic dream of survival for her child, her loss is also ours.

All children deserve love... BringBackOurGirls

All children deserve love… BringBackOurGirls

If you’ve been paying attention, you know that 200+ girls are missing; they were kidnapped by Boko Haram in Nigeria.  They won’t have a chance to express their love to their Moms until they are found. Please get involved and also send a prayer to their families. May our Thankful prayers and gratitude for our moms, reach beyond our homes, our hearts, and our dreams to fill the desires and prayers of Moms around the world.  More Below!

Maria and Eunice Shriver: The Gift My Mother Gave Me

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!  Something my mom always encouraged us to do was to share. Kids can be very selfish over toys, treats and such, and we were not immune from moments of selfishness. My Mom was always looking for ways to show us that our privileges were not to be enjoyed alone, while others suffered. She routinely gave our toys and clothes away.

As much as it irked me, it taught me to be charitable with those who have less. I give what I can and even when things are tight, I give a little… Charitable giving is one way we can help others and, by extending our gifts, we indirectly help ourselves. P&G donated $1 to The Special Olympics every time we shared the video above last year.   Eunice Shriver was a huge part of the Special Olympics and this was a great way Maria and P&G chose to honor her memory. Please find a way to make this day truly global.  May we all be a blessing to others and be abundantly blessed.

*Please bear with me as I continue to catch up on your blogs and commenting… Thank you all for your patience!

I didn’t want to, but had to send my sponsor child some money today. I’m sending her to beauty school and she lives in Cartagena, Colombia. I was feeling like I didn’t want to send money right now, until I read your post. Thanks for sharing.

Everyone in our family also has an angel pictured above to remind us of our lost one, my daughter who is now an angel in heaven. We all miss her this Mother’s Day!

    Lovely Mother’s Day compilation!

My heart just sinks thinking about the kidnapped girls in Nigeria – the entire situation is extremely sad. I cannot imagine what they or their mothers/parents are going through.

On another note, I am not even a cat person, but I really like the first photo in your post. I want to know what the cat is thinking.

Thank you! Yes, the situation is dire and I hope it all ends peacefully.
I think our family was wondering if the Thank You angel was edible. 😆

This is my first Mother’s Day. (Unofficially, since baby isn’t born yet. But I enjoyed the limelight last Sunday! Haha)

Your mom sounds like a great mom! Most of the things we learn, we have to be honest, we learn it from them. Cheers to your mom! =D
