Have an inspired week!
How do you show silence? Do you even practice a day or hour of silence? Do share! Thank you.

This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post: Writing Challenge: The Sound Of Silence: Need some more ideas? There are multiple ways of interacting with silence: purposefully leaving something unsaid, breaking the silence around a topic, or, quite simply, getting tongue-tied. For this week’s challenge, we want you to take the theme of silence and explore it in your own way.

Positive Motivation Tip: Silence can be deafening… Even worse than loud noise. Find that space of true silence and rest there.

I’ve never seen nor heard of the anechoic chamber. that’s fascinating.

  2. 18/02/2014 5:26 pm

I often don’t have a moment to myself unless I’m driving to/from work. Sad that my only silent hour of the day is spent in my car!

  3. 18/02/2014 5:29 pm

I have learned the hard way lately that my silence would have been better than my unwise words – alas.

  4. 18/02/2014 6:07 pm

I need a little silence every day. I love that my husband gets this about me.

  5. 18/02/2014 6:15 pm

I dream of silence! LOL. My little ones are always talking talking!

  6. 18/02/2014 7:07 pm

I am one who actually doesn’t like silence unless I am sleeping. I am a talker. I like to hear others talk, play and laugh. It’s the music of the world to me!

I live for silence and alone time. I get a lot during the day because I work from home and my boyfriend is often at work as well- so it’s just me 🙂

  8. 18/02/2014 7:17 pm

I crave alone time and quiet. I mean I need some every day so I love silence!

  9. 18/02/2014 8:13 pm

I wish I could have silence in my house but that is impossible. But even when I can have silence in my car on my drive in to work, I have to listen to something. The void of noise means that I should be doing something and I’m not being productive.

  10. 18/02/2014 9:06 pm

I meditate everyday for at least 10 minutes.

  11. 18/02/2014 9:07 pm

With a toddler and a newborn I crave silence. When I go to the grocery store I drive with the radio off… so refreshing!

  12. 18/02/2014 9:44 pm

I really don’t have much time to myself unless my 8 month old is sleeping or unless we are all sleeping. I miss those days. But, I’m enjoy theses days more.

  13. 18/02/2014 9:45 pm

I would love some silence everyday!

  14. 18/02/2014 10:41 pm

To sit still in a silent room, to concentrate on my breathing and as much as possible refrain from thinking about anything
until I feel calm and totally at peace – to me this is silence or you might call it meditation.

Great quotes and excellent pictures! Silence is something that isn’t found much in our house since my daughter was born.

  16. 18/02/2014 11:36 pm

I wonder if you know how much you quietly teach.

I have a two week old so there hasn’t been much silence here lately. I sure do miss it!

An inspiring post! For myself, I’ve always found it best to be still and quiet and watch everything around me. Now if I could get the rest of my family to do the same for a few moments, that would be sweet.

  19. 19/02/2014 4:42 am

    Great first quote and post.

  20. 19/02/2014 4:58 am

I love all of these quotes, but especially the first one! I am not a very quiet person, but I do have my moments!

  21. 19/02/2014 5:00 am

I don’t actively practice silence, but I do get quite a bit of it when the kids are at school and my husband is working. I’m not still though…I’m always busy and doing something. That I could work on for sure.

  22. 19/02/2014 5:06 am

I love silence and peace and quite! Sadly I do not get much quiet time here but I love it.

  23. 19/02/2014 5:24 am

Interesting way to put silence.. For me it depends on the situation if i can stay quiet or not…

  24. 19/02/2014 5:30 am

Great quotes! It’s often hard to remain silent!

  25. 19/02/2014 6:54 am

Are we being Silent when we are reading…blogging…writing…???
It seems if we were really Silent…we would need no thoughts running through our minds…Is that possible???
    Just contemplating…You got me thinking!

  26. 19/02/2014 9:25 am

I cant really say when i appreciate silents. I myself can remain silent, but i dont often find myself alone in silence.

  27. 19/02/2014 1:11 pm

I have a hard time with silence at times but understand the need. Other times when we are just out in nature it just makes sense to use it to take it all in. I have the weekday mornings all to myself and have to have the TV going just for background noise. Thanks for sharing to take appreciation of silence.

  28. 19/02/2014 1:59 pm

My husband doesn’t understand that my favorite part of the day is when the house is silent. There are times at night where I beg for the TV to be turned off because it’s just NOISE and I crave the silence!

  29. 19/02/2014 8:00 pm

I could use some silence for myself these days!

  30. 19/02/2014 9:46 pm

I’ve never thought about being intentionally silent. I do enjoy that few seconds of calm silence after the kiddos go to bed, but I usually interrupt it by getting straight to work on a project.

  31. 20/02/2014 6:17 am

    Great images and meditations.

  32. 20/02/2014 5:39 pm

I have to have quiet time. I appreciate people who can be silent.

I never shut up lol. I knew this guy in college who took a vow of silence for an entire year and then did this big presentation for like a thousand people in a huge auditorium the first time he began speaking again. It was the craziest speech I have ever heard! Quiet time does not work for me lol.

  34. 21/02/2014 3:44 am

I like the red lips photo – open or shut lips can both say a lot, even in silence.

  35. 21/02/2014 10:17 am

These are some great quotes, and photos as well. Staying silent can be hard, especially in today’s society of putting everything on Social Media as soon as you know it 🙂

The only silence I get is 2:00 quiet time during the weekdays. But I do love your photos, they really get you thinking about silence itself.
