Moment: A Smart Innovation For Mobile Photography

10/02/2014

“The highest quality lenses to empower mobile picture takers everywhere to capture incredible images with their phones. ” Marc Barros

Have you ever wished you had the perfect lens to capture a special or hilarious moment? Do you sometimes think the shot you took was awesome until you uploaded it to your Picasa folder and found out it was a pixelated mess? Yes I have and, many times, I’ve wanted to call my smartphone company and give them hell. But I digress. This morning, I was surfing the net and enjoying an article posted on The Next Web. (TNW). It was about how the main weapon that would help a company win the smartphone/android war would have to be their ability to produce a great smartphone camera. I’ll concur and add  … or the next best mobile option.

As I continued surfing on TNW, I came across another article, this one was called Exploring the greatest creative renaissance By Adam Benzion and it led me to a terrific innovation:  Enter Stage Left, The Moment Lenses. Not so long ago, Marc Barros and his team of innovative entrepreneurs had a eureka moment; it was to find a way to make it possible for smartphone users to take awesome photos without the fuss of a huge lens or buying a new expensive phone. They came up with the idea of the Moment Lenses; portable, user friendly wide lens and telephoto lens that you could easily carry in your pocket and attach/use at will. When attached, the lens helps you take far superior shots than some of the lame photos we usually take.

Moment Lens Fundraising Project on KickStarter

Marc and team worked hard  to bring this brilliant idea to life and, once they fine tuned their design, they created a Kickstarter page, on January 14th, to crowd-fund their project and help raise funds. It caught on like hot tamales and to date they’ve raised over $300,000.   Yep, in less than a month they’ve inspired and motivated enough of us to contribute to the development of this great mobile phone gadget. They still need your support and will end the Kickstarter project on February 13th. Depending on the donation amount you give, you could get one of those lenses when they drop in June. So go check it out!

As I thought about the lenses, I flashed back to an incident that happened a couple of weeks ago… Want to learn more about why the Moment Lens above is a must have?  See More Below

As I’d mentioned before, the Moment Lenses reminded me of an incident that occurred a couple of weeks ago…  What happened? I was on my way to a meditation event, in Manhattan,  when an impatient cab driver sideswiped my car. I stopped. He stopped, briefly, jumped out of his car and started yelling at me. I was quite annoyed and reminded him that he had just hit my car.   Mr impatient-cab-driver’s phone rang.  He answered it quickly in a language  I didn’t understand, hung up on the caller, and started taking photos of my car.

I told him that I was calling the cops. I picked up my phone and took some shots of him. When he saw my mobile aimed at him and his cab, he stopped, ran back to his car and took off; a hit and run. Now If I had a Moment lens, the lousy shot I shared above would be so passe. We need this not just for fun but also for emergencies.  Don’t forget you can help take this new product project to the next level. Deadline is February 13th. Go for it. Innovate. Motivate. Support a great idea. What’s the one innovation you would love to create or see?

What are your thoughts? Do you take a lot of cellphone photos?  Would you like to own a Moment lens? Please share your thoughts in a comment below. Thank you!

Positive Motivation Tip: If ideas come to you, write them down. Then create away. Innovation is the key to our collective future.

I keep saying I’m going to buy a phone lens. I just never know which one is right. This looks effective and easy to use.

  10. 10/02/2014 5:48 pm

This is so cool! I didn’t know that there was even something like this available. I could definitely utilize this on my phone.

  11. 10/02/2014 6:51 pm

I would definitely invest in one of these. My phone tends to take crappy action/fast shots, so hopefully this would help in those moments.

  12. 10/02/2014 7:04 pm

I want to try a macro phone lens! Sometimes my iPhone takes amazing photos… I just want to zoom in a bit more! 😀

  13. 10/02/2014 7:10 pm

What a great idea! I use my phone for almost all my pics.

  14. 10/02/2014 7:13 pm

I’ve never heard of these lenses before! Thanks for the head’s up, I might need some for my next trip! 🙂

I am always pulling out my mobile phone and always disappointed with what I end up with. This sounds great!

I bought my husband a mobile lens for Christmas. He doesn’t take photos nearly as often as I do, so I’m not sure if he’s used it yet. Thanks for reminding me about it! I’ll have to go ask him now!

I would LOVE to have one of these lenses. I use my iPhone camera so much, especially for blog photos. I’d love to be able to take better photos!

  23. 11/02/2014 1:12 am

Yes, I’d love one. My Sony mobile camera is about as good as it gets but still struggles in low light.

Haha I love the cab driver story – I believe his brothers work in Albany! It’s definitely a smart idea to make a nice lens for a smartphone camera. Unfortunately, I can barely hang on to my phone, never mind a mini lens!

  27. 11/02/2014 4:47 am

This is nice – I am checking this out right away! I was wondering when they would have a lense for my phone!

I don’t have a phone w/a camera, but if I did…this would be great. I’m sorry you got sideswiped. Even worse that he just left. 🙁

I love all the new technology and ideas coming out! My brother has a camera thing he clips to his iphone. It’s super cool!!

  39. 11/02/2014 10:58 am

I would love to have a mobile photo lens for my iPhone. As it is I have to bring my video camera, photo camera, and my iPhone when I go anywhere so this could eliminate one of those 🙂

  40. 11/02/2014 11:57 am

Why didn’t I think of this?! A mobile lens would be awesome. Anything not to have to lug around a huge camera and all of its accessories.

  41. 11/02/2014 12:17 pm

This is so cool. I wonder if it is at all like the Oliclip? I have an oliclip and I love it. It goes over my phone and has three different lens my favorite being the fish-eye and macro!

  42. 11/02/2014 2:10 pm

I would absolutely love something like this! I take so many pictures of my kids with my phone and knowing I’ll be keeping them all, I wish they were so much better. This would certainly help!
