Musings: Breathing Fire…

30/01/2013

“Labor to keep alive in your breast that little spark of celestial fire, called conscience.” George Washington

Musings: Breathing Fire...

Musings: Breathing Fire…

In The Heart Of the Fire…
We took refuge from the cold
The flames lifted gently
Then spread like wicked weeds
We reached for faith, hope, and courage
Our conscience said add more
We added prayer and peace…
Then, breathing through the fire
We headed out the door…

More below!

“The most powerful weapon on earth is the human soul on fire.” Ferdinand Foch

Musings: Breathing Fire...

Musings: Breathing Fire…

In The Heart Of the Fire…
We found answers in our soul
The scorching heat confused us
And shredded all our clothes
But faith, hope, and courage found us
And showed us to the door
There prayer and peace met us
And guided us safely out the home…

Stay Inspired. Have a blessed day and thank you for stopping by! :-)
*Please bear with me as I continue to catch up on your blogs. Thank you all for your patience! :-)

Happy 2013! This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post: Daily Prompt: Burning Down the House. Your home is on fire. Grab five items (assume all people and animals are safe). What did you grab?

Positive Motivation Tip: The fire within is more powerful than that without. Seek it and heal your day. :-)

TY Jo! I will be visiting you soon as I’ve been on a catch up roll… thankfully! 🙂

That is so beautiful and inspiring Eliz! Thank you.

TY Madhu! I used to write poems and stopped for many, many years… I no longer felt a connection to it. But recently, with the small stones, something was rekindled. I’m a novice at it and I prefer poetry that tells a story so I don’t use vague terms… I’m not good at that. TY 🙂

    Wonderful, powerful and inspiring! 😀

The quote from Washington is thought provoking. He calls conscience ‘that little spark of celestial fire’. Wouldn’t it be great if more people labored to keep this spark alive in their breasts!
I also loved this poem where it says that faith, hope and courage can lead us out of danger so to speak and to prayer and peace. And then we are safe. Did you compose this poem, Eliz?
What would I grab in case of fire? Definitely my handbag containing all my identity cards. I wouldn’t know which books to grab if there wasn’t much time. Come to think of it, I could actually grab any four of our photo-albums on the way out. They would be easy to grab because some of them are placed on a
bookshelf near the door to the outside.

TY Auntyuta! Yes it is an original poem I created… I would reach for our cat and my bag too but if not then I’ll be out of there with the cat. 🙂

A very thought-provoking post, and the poem is just wonderful. The fire within is indeed stronger than the one outside.

    • 01/02/2013 4:49 pm

Yes… You are right… Inside holds so much more. TY! 🙂

The human soul on fire…love those words. Passionate and inspirational.

TY Lynne! It’s amazing what a little down time can do to us emotionally. Glad to see you and hope you and Ron are doing well. 🙂

  12. 01/02/2013 6:09 pm

The first photo just had me speechless!

  14. 01/02/2013 8:37 pm

    Beautiful poem, Elizabeth

  15. 01/02/2013 9:39 pm

I would grab my handbag because it has the USB stick in it with our manuscript, our passports because the Nigerian ones not so easy to replace and the car keys so at least we could drive to somewhere.

    Everything else I consider replaceable.

    • 01/02/2013 10:28 pm

I love that so far quite a number have handbags with special documents … It’s a great idea to keep that handy. TY! 😉

  16. 02/02/2013 1:28 am

The first photo is brilliant as is your poem. Fire is scary, I can’t imagine anything worse that can happen to your home. Lisa Rosenberg’s home was burnt down a few months ago and she hasn’t posted on her blog for a while, hope she is okay.

    • 07/02/2013 9:15 pm

Who is Lisa! ? So sorry to hear that. Losing one’s home in a fire is so so, tragic. May all be divinely protected. TY! 🙂

  17. 02/02/2013 8:15 am

A friend and I were talking about fires yesterday — it must take great skill to be a fire eater

    • 08/02/2013 3:49 am

It must and it’s a skill I don’t want to learn. 😆 TY!

  18. 07/02/2013 8:56 am

OMG, Elizabeth. What a beautiful poem. 🙂

    • 08/02/2013 3:50 am

TY Cee! I had a need to write it and help someone…
