Inspiration: Acceptance…

17/01/2013

“Acceptance is not love. You love a person because he or she has lovable traits, but you accept everybody just because they’re alive and human.” Albert Ellis

Inspiration: Acceptance...

Inspiration: Acceptance…

Small Stones
There’s enough judging, critiquing, condemning and hating in the world
We need to declare a Global Acceptance Day
Something in the vein of International Peace Day
On Acceptance Day, we’ll bite our tongue, purse our lips….
And say nothing hurtful
I see You. I accept You … as You are

Acceptance is a great word and quality to practice. It’s easy to see our faults in others and assign blame. It takes sincere effort to take a deep breath, let go and embrace the good that is there for us.
More below!

“The keys to patience are acceptance and faith. Accept things as they are, and look realistically at the world around you. Have faith in yourself and in the direction you have chosen.” Ralph Marston

Small Stones
Hugs are healing and happiness is accepting a hug…
They help us reconnect with another soul; to share comfort in crisis
When we stop seeing each other through the lens of difference
Acceptance, tolerance and forgiveness become our life companions.
Accept a hug; enough with discriminatory practices…

George Orwell made a great point when he said that “Happiness can exist only in acceptance.” Think about it. If we go within, we will soon find that there is no difference between us as children of creation. Man creates divisions. Find the seed of acceptance deep inside, it is linked to peace and happiness. What are you doing to embrace acceptance in your life?

Happy January! This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post: Daily Prompt: In a Crisis Honestly evaluate the way you respond to crisis situations. Are you happy with the way you react?

Beautiful thoughts! Acceptance begins with oneself and moves outward.

    • 19/01/2013 12:21 am

True… everything begins with us and moves from there. TY! 🙂

Acceptance takes courage and tenderizing the heart, which can be difficult in the need to open the heart to forgive.

  3. 18/01/2013 12:15 pm

I wish we did have a Global Acceptance Day. Then all people would be accepted as they are. ….and maybe one of my stories would be accepted by a publisher! 🙂

    • 19/01/2013 12:23 am

Haha! And so it is… Sending you all the positive vibes you need to get your story out there to the world. TY! 🙂

I fell in love with it the first time I saw it too… TY! 🙂

there is lots to think about here…you are right when you say: “Acceptance is a great word and quality to practice. It’s easy to see our faults in others and assign blame. It takes sincere effort to take a deep breath, let go and embrace the good that is there for us.”

sometimes it takes a lot of time in order to heal before we can get to the point of acceptance but i guess that is where forgiveness comes into place. i love your words…let go and embrace the good…
    thanks for the meditation. <3

TY for the feedback Sunshine…. 🙂 Forgiveness is important too and it starts with Self… We need to forgive and be compassionate with ourselves. Once we give it to ourselves, it will no longer carry so much weight whether others give it to us or not.

Glad to hear from you Frizz.. and interesting song… So true of life isn’t it? 😉 The moths gather to a flame until it burns down, then they take off like hookers looking for another John… Oye Vey! Self Acceptance is so important 😆

  9. 19/01/2013 2:43 am

What about tolerance? Is this more or less than acceptance?

    • 19/01/2013 2:54 am

It’s all connected… no more, no less. 😉

      • 19/01/2013 11:08 am

You made me think about this, dear Eliz. T.Y.

    • 23/01/2013 1:34 pm

Thnak you and you made me think too… 🙂

  10. 19/01/2013 2:59 am

This is a wonderful post. This is what we need more of in this world.

    • 19/01/2013 3:38 am

TY so much… I know I need it and many others too. 😉

  11. 19/01/2013 4:03 am

True. It’s hard to accept others. And when we could do it, there is love and peace. Lovely post.

    • 19/01/2013 6:21 am

TY Bindu, true, and glad to hear from you! 🙂

  12. 19/01/2013 1:17 pm

Acceptance is huge! And it takes a lot from a person.
Welcome back, Eliz. Take it easy. 😀 I also took a hiatus just recently, and it was a pain to come back to blogging.

    • 23/01/2013 1:37 pm

TY darling… your words are music to my ears… Madhu said same, so we are not alone on this quiet retreat that grabbed us and insisted we stay down for a minute… TY! 🙂

Great post, as always! And the Albert Ellis quote was very thoughtful as well. Everything living and breathing sure has as much right to be on this planet as us humans do, so we should accept and respect every single soul here – including ourselves. Thanks for sharing, Eliz. 🙂

    • 23/01/2013 1:41 pm

TY Ropcorn and I wish this were the case… We do live in a divisive world but choosing to accept and move on with your life and plans is a good thing. TY! 🙂

  14. 20/01/2013 8:30 am

A powerful message and reminder Eliz…thank you. Respect and acceptance should be the basis of relationships at every level.

    • 23/01/2013 1:47 pm

True… Is the internet isolating us from truly engaging on a human level with each other? Sometimes I wonder…

  15. 20/01/2013 10:07 am

Acceptance is a powerful thing. It’s the beginning for everything else good that comes. 🙂

  16. 20/01/2013 5:07 pm

    What a lovely post!
Yes, I could use a hug today.

  17. 21/01/2013 3:20 pm

Beautiful post, Elizabeth. I love the idea of a day of acceptance. Would you like to do a guest post on my blog in the near future? I’d love to have you. My new website on WordPress will launch soon and my blog will link through there – I’d love to have you make a guest appearance some time in February. Thank you for bringing more light into the world.
    Eleanor

    • 23/01/2013 2:05 pm

TY Eleanor and I’d be happy to guest post… Just let me know when you’re ready and we can go from there. TY for the invite! 🙂

  18. 21/01/2013 10:55 pm

A lovely idea, if everyone accepted no one would feel rejected.

    • 23/01/2013 2:10 pm

Exactly … but then what would happen to all the cliques? 😆

  19. 22/01/2013 8:19 am

Love this post. Your thoughts are mine too, Elizabeth. Hugs to you. 🙂

    • 23/01/2013 2:10 pm

Amen… I know we are kindred spirits. TY Adin. 🙂

  20. 22/01/2013 2:12 pm

“Happiness can exist only in acceptance.”, indeed! Thank you so much for the inspiring post, Elizabeth! (((hug)))

    • 23/01/2013 2:20 pm

TY Amy for your comment… and {{{HUGS}}} to you too! Appreciated. 🙂

  21. 23/01/2013 8:36 am

You know I love this post, Eliz. {{{Hugs]}} and acceptance. I can’t think of anything better.

  22. 23/01/2013 1:28 pm

It is such an obvious thing, but this post did make me realize that hug is a gesture of acceptance. So, indeed, hugs do bring happiness because of the acceptance they convey.

    • 23/01/2013 2:29 pm

TY Frances… It is a great way of sharing joy. Of course both parties must be willing and open. Glad to hear from you! 🙂

    • 27/01/2013 1:19 pm

True TY! Same to you and hope to be somewhat caught up soon. 🙂
