Reflections: A Circle Of Five…

12/12/2012

“O Lord! May our ears listen to nothing but auspicious words, may our eyes see nothing but auspicious things, may we have healthy bodies and be blessed with long life.” Rig Veda

Reflections: A Circle Of Five... As above, So below

Reflections: A Circle Of Five… As above, So below

Every day offers auspicious moments for us to learn and grow…  Today is a particularly auspicious day because it brings our attention to a set of numbers that occur in a unique sequence; 12-12-12. If we added up just this sequence alone, we would have the number three; a powerful spiritual number. In reality, today’s date is really a 2 because the full numbers are 12.12.2012. Some folk have predicted that today prepares us for 12.21.12 which, depending on your beliefs, will mark the end of the world as we know it.

The way I see it, the end doesn’t mean destruction but a shift in energies and attitudes. For those who believe in numerology, the number 2 is about harmony and peace, and stresses the importance of building co-operative and considerate relationships. How we interact with each other, and under what conditions, will matter in the coming months and years. So if the world shifts today and on the 21st, we are shifting in a good way.

“I am free and unlimited; there are no chains that bind me…” Unity Daily Word

Reflections: A Circle Of Five… Circle of Words

What does any of this global shift story have to do with the Circle of Five? or as WP put it, Which five people would you like to spend your time with? If we are going through a global energetic shift, the company we keep will be as important as the way we organize and spend our time… For as long as I can remember, my parents warned us to keep the company of disciplined, peaceful people because “no one wants to be found guilty by association!” As I thought about the impending global shift and its relevance to this topic, I realized that the quality of our relationships might experience a shift too.

As we embrace a more harmonious world order and seek cooperation and compassion in our relationships, our idea of the five people we choose to spend time with will change. Instead of naming five specific people; living or dead, to spend time with, I decided to choose characteristics that fit the change we seek to be in the world. So I chose Freedom (from unproductive behavior), Compassion (for all living things), Love (for life and all), Happiness (because we all deserve to be blessed and happy), and Duty (which includes service to self/others, honor, responsibility and Dharma/right action). What about you? More below!

“The months, the days, and the moments are auspicious, for those upon whom the Lord casts His Glance of Grace. Nanak begs for the blessing of Your Vision.” Sri Guru Granth Sahib

Reflections: A Circle Of Five… Circle of Creation & Compassion

Today, during the meditation session for FOCUS:PEACE, we were encouraged to share a word that resonated in our spirit. The word that came up for me was Freedom. Interesting, I thought. Many years ago, my yoga teacher gave me that name. I don’t use it but it’s often on my mind. After the meditation, I casually picked up my copy of Daily Word to read the prayer for the day and the Word for 12/12/12 was – Freedom!

Part of the Unity message I read was that “No matter the condition, at my spiritual core I am free and unlimited!” I plan to keep that in front of me as I go about my business for the rest of the year. Rigidity interferes with our creativity and our world view, so vigilance is key… May all find their inner freedom or as Daily Word aptly put it, “God is free, unlimited and unbound – and so am I.”
Stay Inspired! What are your thoughts? What five qualities/personalities did you pick? If you were to pick a word to resonate throughout your day, what might it be? Sit quietly for 3-5 minutes and see what comes up for you. What do you think will happen on the 21st? How would it impact your future, your life? Do share! Thank you. 🙂

This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post: Daily Prompt: Circle of Five A writer once said, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” If this is true, which five people would you like to spend your time with?

*Please bear with me as I continue to catch up on your blogs and commenting… Thank you all for your patience! 🙂

Positive Motivation Tip: The company we keep is as important as the way we organize and spend our time… Choose carefully. 🙂

It is hard for many of us to imagine anything other than what is – thanks for the thoughtful and progressive post. I’m with you – a shift in human nature so our better nature prevails.

    • 14/12/2012 3:57 am

TY for your feedback… I suspect many are disappointed I didn’t join the chorus of naysayers. 😆 The world is not ending in my book and if it does… oh well! Oops! 🙂

  2. 13/12/2012 5:37 am

Unsettled comes to mind. Long story, but I wish it wasn’t so.
One reason why your words, (and words like them) are so important.
    Freedom. I like that. 🙂

    • 14/12/2012 3:58 am

TY Gemma! I do hope what makes you feel unsettled gets resolved. So much going on in this world that we need our anchors to keep us focused on what matters. 🙂

  3. 13/12/2012 6:30 am

I believe as you believe. It IS a shift of energy. Wonderful insightful blog!

    • 14/12/2012 4:00 am

TY Jasmine! I can’t imagine anything else… We do need a shift in our world and hopefully a lot less disdain, discrimination, and hate going around. 🙂

      • 14/12/2012 4:57 am

we are about to enter the time of Aquarius right? We have just finished up with Pisces I think I can’t remember.

      • 14/12/2012 5:07 am

Yes, I believe so and with it will come more acts of compassion and humanitarianism I hope… 🙂

      • 14/12/2012 5:09 am

WHOO HOO I am RIGHT??!?!?! SWEET! I hope so!

      • 14/12/2012 5:11 am

Same here… We could use more kindness on this planet…

      • 14/12/2012 5:56 am

I get yen and yang but I would like to see less evil as well.

      • 14/12/2012 5:57 am

Yes… there is always a balance of good and evil in most arenas but I’m hoping to see that shift tilt the balance… I’m over all the evil haters! 😆

      • 14/12/2012 7:14 am

        ME TOO!!!!!

      • 14/12/2012 7:19 am

    Hi Eliz,
As always, your posts offer interesting things to ponder and wonderful photos.
I’ve read, this one, Time Capsule and Music Musings. 😀

    • 14/12/2012 4:01 am

TY Tracy and I’ve enjoyed your posts too… I appreciate the feedback. BTW, do you get my posts? Some of my blog friends say they don’t and I’ve notified WP… Seems odd. 🙂

“God is free, unlimited and unbound – and so am I.” I do want to meditate more on that! THe word that comes to my mind is “abundant.” I feel that word a lot lately. I have more than I need, more than I deserve, and a strong urge to share from it. I do agree with you about the shift in energy. I want to embrace that with a new openness. That may actually require me to move in some new circles. Or be more discerning about who I share my time with. Lots to consider in the new year! Thank you, Eliz. Beautiful post.

    • 14/12/2012 4:05 am

Debra, you must be reading my mind as I feel the same way you do… This has been a very interesting year and being an observant person, I’ve seen things that have given me pause online, in the blogging community, and offline… Discernment is key… all that glitters is never always gold. TY for your feedback! 😉

Inspiring post my friend. If it’s me, the five people is God, my wife , my son, my mom and dad whom I miss a lot this Christmas. Merry Christmas to you and your love ones.

    • 14/12/2012 4:06 am

Great choices… I’m sorry about your dad and I trust he watches over you all. I miss my dad too. Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones too! 😉

This was very thought provoking Elizabeth. I like the idea of 12-21-12 being the end of the world as we know it (to quote REM). It’s time for us to find harmony in the world or we will definitely be near the end of days.
    Thanks!
    b

Good thing I checked… Sometimes miss comments because I’m responding from my back door or in the reader… I like the idea too and hope we will see it unfold as the weeks go by. 😉

  8. 14/12/2012 9:24 am

This is another insightful post you put out. The five characteristics you chose are PERFECT! I often think of “intellect” is the key to freedom. Thank you, Eliz!
BTW, Notification of your new post is coming to me. 😀

    • 26/12/2012 4:39 pm

TY Amy and glad to read all is well with notifications… The intellect is impt. My teacher used to say, “make friends with your mind.”

      • 26/12/2012 6:00 pm

I agree with your teacher. I am educated every time I visit your blog. I’m thankful!

  9. 14/12/2012 2:15 pm

The Circle of Five is a very interesting theory, Elizabeth. Now you’ve got me analysing myself and a few other people I know. 😀 It certainly would be wonderful to have a more harmonious world order. We so need it.

    • 14/12/2012 3:05 pm

It got me thinking too and opened my eyes to considerations we often ignore… We need harmony in our world for sure… Look at all the senseless shootings. Help Us God! 🙁

  10. 14/12/2012 7:42 pm

I’m part of the generation that hid under desks in elementary school as training against Cold War attacks. Except for 9/11, numbers don’t mean worry me as much as extreme actions (and reactions) of people. Thank you for an excellent, insightful post, especially the five characteristics.

    • 14/12/2012 8:37 pm

I appreciate your feedback… Good thing that numbers don’t bother you, at least you wont lose sleep in the coming days… I’m looking forward to the 21st as a blessed day. 🙂

  11. 16/12/2012 1:37 am

Five perfect characteristics, we need no more!

  12. 18/12/2012 8:08 pm

Too much math on this post, it gives me headache. 😀
I don’t want to answer the last question, because you cheated on yours. 😛 😀 Hehe
The end of the world cannot happen. I still have my 200th post to compose. 😀

    • 26/12/2012 4:34 pm

OMG! When did you write this? How funny… We are still here so there! 😉

  13. 24/12/2012 5:57 pm

I like this prompt because it makes you dig inside your psyche. Great post.

    • 26/12/2012 4:35 pm

TY Miriam! I will check in with you asap. Did you write on it? 🙂
