Haiku: Autumn Clouds… Like a wounded bride
Autumn clouds arrived
Like a wounded bride, glumly…
Grey, cold, day and night
When we need to be succinct and practice periods of quiet contemplation, a haiku can’t be beat. Recently, I took some photos of clouds and they made me pause. Nature is so magnificent; it offers miracles everyday.

Her gaze followed me
Blue-grey, white-grey eyes, Steely…
Roiling as the sea
As I watched the clouds, they shifted; sometimes calmly, and sometimes roiling like the sea, as if angry. It was fascinating, and then I felt that deja-vu feeling we get… An ancient feeling; I’ve been here, done this before. More below!

This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post: Weekly Writing Challenge: Easy As Pie. Your challenge this week is fairly straightforward as far as rules go: write about whatever you’d like, incorporating metaphor and/or simile to illustrate and highlight important parts of your story. If you’d like something more advanced, take the bull by the horns and attempt an epic simile, an extended simile that runs for several lines. Homer really liked a good epic simile, so much so that we now call them Homeric Similes; here are a few examples.

You seem to have loads more likes than comments. I don’t remember it always being like that but I always find it strange. Anyway, “never mind all that” as I always say. I was lying in bed this morning looking out at the thinnest cirrus clouds ( I think they are called) and wondering at their delicacy and beauty. As you post intimates. Looking at them can take you to another place full of relection. Lovely

Preparing themselves for the c0ld air…rain…and snow…
that will make them full in the winter months…
They are quite glorious in my neck of the woods and the spectrum of colors are plentiful and stunning. 😉

Lovely Elizabeth. I tend to be a cloud lover too and find myself paying a lot of attention to nature and love photographing clouds. Our fall clouds have rolled in too here with November like weather. I waiting for it to warm up again!

Here in California, we see so few clouds in early autumn that it means quite a lot when then return. It has finally cooled this week from 102 degrees last week to 75 now! The patterns of the clouds, their movement and the play of light against and from behind them, is, as you say, like a miracle of nature. Thank you for sharing such beautiful photos!

Nice cloud shots you have here, sis! I have to admit that I don’t really pay attention to clouds when I’m out of the house. That’s because I’m always in a hurry to get things done. Next time, I’ll make a deliberate attempt to stop and smell the roses and to watch the clouds, too.
