As I work on this post, I am reminded again that September 21st is International Peace Day and that the effort we make to procure peace in the world cannot be a solitary one. We can choose to live our lives in quiet contemplation and still take a moment to do our bit for the sake of peace…

This week’s photo challenge – Solitary – offers us a chance to step back from the busyness and seek something different; perhaps some event or plan that is a little quieter.  For those attending the Social Good summit, find time to decompress and reflect. Hope you like the selections here. I’ll be round later to applaud your contributions.  More below!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Solitary… Thank you to all! – Freshly Pressed

Musings: Ode To An Email Junkie…– My post got freshly pressed; no one  achieves anything alone… I thank you all!

This weekend, I hope you find time to enjoy something solo and then something with loved ones.  Have an awesome weekend! 😉 Thank you for stopping by! What are your thoughts? What photos did you share on SOLITARY to fit the challenge? Was it easy/hard to find photos that supported your perspective on the subject? Were you drawn to certain types of photos for the prompt? Do share? Thank you! 🙂

*Please bear with me as I continue to catch up on your blogs and commenting… Thank you all for your patience! 🙂

My fellow bloggers were equally creative with their selections. I listed several via Zemanta & WP Daily Post below. (I will update it and add more). We all appreciate trackbacks/ping-backs and Likes from fellow bloggers too! Check out how others interpreted the theme – Solitary – also below. ***

This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post: Weekly Photo Challenge: SOLITARY Solitary. I love capturing a person in a quiet and often unexpected moment. These kinds of images can be reflective, mysterious, or even sad, conjuring strong emotions and stirring up stories in my head. I snapped this photograph in the grand Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, Turkey. That afternoon, it was very busy and crowded inside, but I turned a corner at one point and walked into the empty, bright, airy space pictured above. I experienced a few moments of silence as I watched a woman walk to the end of the room. We were strangers—yet alone, together. A solitary moment, frozen with my lens. Share a picture that means SOLITARY to you!

Positive Motivation Tip: We can spend time alone and still make a difference. Our solitary time is for reflection, preparation and then action. Be vigilant! Have an abundant day!

  23. 23/09/2012 9:12 am

My weekly photo challenge would be to upload a photo in the first place. I wrote a Blog today and I wanted it to be read while a certain piece of music was playing. Oh yes that would have been amazing but you’ll just have to hum the tune because I couldn’t upload anything to save my life

    • 26/09/2012 4:21 pm

Oh dear Peter! It is not so bad. I’d recommend just coping a link on Youtube for the song you like and adding it to your blog… That is the easiest way. 😉

  24. 23/09/2012 9:19 am

    Lovely photos & thoughts!
Thanks for visiting my site ~

I absolutely love your “solitary” collection of photos. Every photo tells a story that is open to interpretation. Depending on the way you look at them, each photo is beautifully happy, but sad at the same time. I’d love to see more photography posts like this one!

      I agree… TY Fergie! 🙂 Loneliness is Aloneness’s sad cousin. 🙁
