It took me a while to decide which photos in my files were suitable and representative of the perspective Brian shared with us. I must admit it was a challenge but I think the choices made are in line with the assignment. Hope you think so too. For this week’s photo challenge, I chose a range of photos taken abroad and locally. I have added some information on the photos to help identify their location. Is it my imagination or does the texture and coloring of the sky look a bit different wherever we go? I think so… Ask me any questions, and Likes/comments are always appreciated. I found that my landscape shots worked best; especially those taken near water. The reflection of blue sky against blue water created a feeling of expansiveness and a welcoming serenity that worked perfectly with the idea of seeing things in a three dimensional way. Some of the shots might be a stretch or not taken close to the ground so that narrowing of focus effect isn’t as profound… When I finally understood Brian’s diagonal perspective effect, it was my eureka moment! This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post: Weekly Photo Challenge: Near and Far. This week’s photo challenge is guest hosted by Brian Cooney. Read on for more about this week’s theme and his photography tips! We’re excited about this week’s photo challenge, near and far, and hope it inspires you to play with perspective, which can give sweeping images of beautiful locations more oomph and power. Perspective is what makes a flat two-dimensional image, such as a photograph, appear like it is three-dimensional. To create this effect, you can use features like diagonal lines, which converge within the frame and literally suck in the viewer.
Positive Motivation Tip: No matter where we are and what we see, there is always a near and distant perspective and memory of what we experienced. Capture the moments and enjoy the memories… Embrace the Near and Far.

I do agree that the sky looks different in different places; I also find that about the other natural elements as well, earth and water, especially. Love those photos from France.

Nara Park, Japan
the deers, free …
Yes, it is quite the fabulous Park. The deer, in all sizes, wander freely amongst humans and demand your attention and food. They can be quite forceful with food requests as I found out when i bought some deer treats and they chased me around the park… not funny! But it is a spectacular place. 🙂

I like your Pointe du Hoc and Normandie photos. I’ve read that Pointe du Hoc is maintained by the US as a battlefield memorial, it was given to the US by the French government sometime in the 70’s
Yes, TY for your feedback and it is true that the site is maintained by the US as a memorial… I think there is some collaboration too. When we visited the site, the personnel were US. 🙂

TY Adin! It was a fun hiking trip to the top of Overlook Mountain and that little boy was so inspiring; he encouraged us adults to stay focused on the hike as he had such energy… 🙂

I think the ‘overlook mountains’ shot is my favorite. the young lad is surely someone you love, so immediately there’s a touch of tenderness and love that comes through the image. then the wonder of ‘what’s out there’ for him/his future/his life. the viewer might also look out there and pause and look inward for a few seconds, before returning to the young lad and then smiling in the moment.

Nara Park is an amazing place and, as another blogger said, it is surreal… The deer hang out there like the rest of us; it is quite the memorable experience. TY! 😉
Very fine photos indeed, I especially like Nara Park; I used to spend a great deal of time there when I lived in Japan and the deer used to lay in some wild positions sometimes! Best of all YOUR interpretation of Near and Far took on a deeper meaning in my humble opinion — you picts were taken Near and Far away from ‘Home’! 😉
