Reflections: Your Heart Knows What Counts…

Kindness in words creates confidence.
Kindness in thinking creates profoundness.
Kindness in giving creates love. Lao Tzu

What really matters to you? What truly counts? If all the glitz and glamor are swept away, and you must turn to what will sustain you, what will you choose? What counts for you? Kindness, Life, Love, Laughter, Longevity…? Health, Happiness, Home and Hearth…? Friends, Family, Funds, Fame…? Drop the shame of failure… We all fail at something. You count. Your Heart Knows What Counts…

“When you love you should not say, “God is in my heart,” but rather, “I am in the heart of God.” Khalil Gibran

Reflections: Your Heart Knows What Counts… Flora and Fall – Mirth and Motivation

Nothing you love is lost. Not really.
Things, people –
they always go away, sooner or later.
You can’t hold them,
any more than you can hold moonlight.
But if they’ve touched you, if they’re inside you,
then they’re still yours.
The only things you ever really have
are the ones you hold inside your heart. Bruce Coville

We all want to be loved and respected for who we are and as we are; flaws and all… and that is fine. But we must love and respect ourselves first; hold love inside our hearts. Seek a higher, spirit love. The rest is fleeting. Your Heart Knows What Counts…

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

Reflections: Your Heart Knows What Counts… Flora in Yellow – Mirth and Motivation

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch,
a smile, a kind word, a listening ear,
an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring,
all of which have the potential to turn a life around.
Leo Buscaglia

To turn our lives around demands standing in the glaring light of truth about who we are and be at peace with it. Be kind to others but stand in your own shoes. Many are swayed by a mob mentality and follow blindly, like the misconceived idea of lemming “mass suicide,” for fear of being ignored or not liked. But which truly matters? Living your vision or living another person’s dreams and decisions? Your Heart Knows What Counts…

“The most wasted of all days is one without laughter.” E. E. Cummings

Flora in Purple - Mirth and Motivation

Reflections: Your Heart Knows What Counts… Flora in Purple – Mirth and Motivation

To find the best in others,
to appreciate beauty,
to laugh often and much,
to leave the world a little bit better,
whether by a healthy child or garden patch,
to know one life has breathed easier because you lived,
this is to have succeeded. Ralph Waldo Emerson

Encouragement, laughter, love, compassion, kindness, appreciation, gratitude, and giving others the benefit of the doubt enrich us as much as it enriches others. Cancel out the noise and choose how you use your gifts to help others… many approaches exist. Your Heart Knows What Counts… To create your own photo collages, go to pixlr express. More below!

“It isn’t what you have, or who you are, or where you are, or what you are doing that makes you happy or unhappy. It is what you think about.” Dale Carnegie

Flora in Yellow - Mirth and Motivation

Reflections: Your Heart Knows What Counts… Flora in White – Mirth and Motivation

But if in your fear you would seek only love’s peace and love’s pleasure,
Then it is better for you that you cover your nakedness and pass out of love’s threshing-floor,
Into the seasonless world where you shall laugh, but not all of your laughter, and weep, but not all of your tears.
Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but from itself.
Love possesses not nor would it be possessed;
For love is sufficient unto love. Khalil Gibran

One of my favorite yoga master teachers used to say, “Make friends with your mind… Love your mind. Nurture it. Love your heart. Nurture it.” Our mind is powerful and it can help us cross the bridge of self doubt and suffering. Our heart is even more powerful and it can reveal, achieve everything in us if we listen to it; first we must fully connect with our vision. What is your VISION? Your Heart Knows What Counts…

“Please watch out for each other and forgive everybody. It’s a good life. Enjoy it.” Jim Henson

May you have enough happiness to make you sweet,
enough trials to make you strong,
enough sorrow to keep you human,
enough hope to make you happy. Anon

Each day I awake to meet my obligations, it is my prayer that I listen to my heart and use my head to honor what truly matters. I have my path and you have yours, but one thing we share is that Our Hearts Know What Counts. Have a blessed weekend! What are your thoughts? What truly counts for you? What do you do to clarify your vision? How often do you remember to administer loving self-care? What tips would you offer others? Do share! Thank you. 😉

*Please bear with me as I catch up on your blogs and commenting… I’m back on track with reading and responding to your blogs; albeit at a slow pace. Thank you all for your patience! 🙂

Positive Motivation Tip: In the midst of the noise is a still, small voice. It speaks from our heart and encourages us to be bold and follow our own path; the road not taken. Don’t be afraid to stand in your own light even if others reject it. It is YOUR light and your peace of mind will be assured so don’t ignore it. Your Heart Knows What Counts… Keep what counts!

As always your posts are fantastic.

TY Katherine! I’ve been thinking about this subject a lot of late, so it comes up in my writings again and again. 🙂

  2. 16/08/2012 10:21 am

“we must love and respect ourselves first”
that’s just so true. It’s easier to respect and love the rest of humanity when it comes from within us.
    nice post as usual 🙂

    • 16/08/2012 6:05 pm

TY Amira, I’ve been thinking about and observing certain behaviors and it does come down to self-love. When we have self love, we don’t feel threatened or feel a need to be mean to others. 🙂

This is the second time this week that I’ve seen that particular Einstein quote. The universe must be telling me something! It’s one that I particularly resonate with. Thanks for your inspirational posts as always!

    • 16/08/2012 6:06 pm

Yes, Karen I agree with your take on it. Whenever something presents itself more than once, I take notice…. It’s all good stuff though. TY! 🙂

What WOULD our earth be without all the blessings of these glorious blossoms? Let us preserve, protect and celebrate all of this beauty!

    • 16/08/2012 6:08 pm

Amen to that and I’m so glad to find uses for Pixlr collage maker… It was fun and I will experiment with more features in the coming months… Celebrate Nature! Celebrate Life! 🙂

    • 17/08/2012 12:05 pm

Loved the flowers from your collection. I enjoyed your grouping in seperate colors and the reflections.
“Our Hearts Know What Counts.” I believe this to be so and I have often run things thoughts and ideas through my heart for a clear take on things.
What matters to me simple things mainly Love, family, friends, my pillow, a gentle breese, the stars, animals, kindmess, being creative, flowers, color…..

    • 17/08/2012 12:26 pm

I hear you Star and I feel the same way about these things. We are often swayed by all the noise but the truth is in our hearts and if we follow it, we find our balance. TY! 🙂

      • 18/08/2012 7:23 am

I was just laughing it seems so simple :+) doesn’t it? Yes the noise at times can get very distracting. It is a good reminder folllow the heart.

Make friends with your mind… Love your mind. Nurture it. Love your heart. Nurture it- what a thoughtful line. I liked it a lot. And as you have very rightly said here, we need to accept ourselves the way we are. We can’t expect everyone to think same, behave same or react same.
Thanks a lot Elizabeth for this inspiring and thought provoking post.

    • 17/08/2012 12:29 pm

TY Arindam for stopping by; Glad to see you here again. Sameness is stifling and causes people to exclude those who don’t conform… I’ve never liked that either. TY again! 🙂

      • 17/08/2012 12:32 pm

It’s always a pleasure of mine to visit your blog; but as I am bit busy these days with the publication of my first book; so can’t able to visit your blog regularly. I hope you understand. 🙂

      • 17/08/2012 12:34 pm

I hear you… Best wishes! I have the same issue and that is why I’m so behind on blog comments and visits. Sadly, I could use a virtual assistant to stay connected with all the wonderful bloggers out there. 🙂

I think the best quote you gave us today is your own:
    <>
    Thank You, Eliz!

  11. 17/08/2012 6:55 am

ok not sure why that wierdness happened, so will try it again! The quote from you I appreciate most is this one:
To turn our lives around demands standing in the glaring light of truth about who we are and be at peace with it. Be kind to others but stand in your own shoes. Many are swayed by a mob mentality and follow blindly, like the misconceived idea of lemming “mass suicide,” for fear of being ignored or not liked. But which truly matters? • 17/08/2012 10:07 am

TY! I’ve been mulling over a lot of things I observe and this is one response to it… 🙂

  12. 18/08/2012 7:13 am

Listen to your heart… indeed so true! Very inspiring post! Thank you 🙂
Sometimes it’s just so hard to prioritize… sometimes I just don’t know what counts the most. Then I always try to turn to my heart.

    • 18/08/2012 7:21 pm

And our heart never leads us astray when we ask for help…. TY! 😉

  13. 18/08/2012 10:59 am

I am not always so sure that my heart really knows what counts. Your post has inspired me to dig deeper though and perhaps uncover it. M

  14. 18/08/2012 7:25 pm

Go for it Miriam… and I’m talking about the still, small voice of truth in the heart. The one that tells us to stay away from that cheating lover … or fake friend. that one. That voice that never lies to us even when we lie to ourselves… that one. 😉

  15. 18/08/2012 9:49 pm
