Reflections: Get Out Of Bed…

09/08/2012

“To fall in love with yourself is the first secret to happiness.” – Robert Morley

Reflections: Get Out Of Bed… Read. Act. Live… light reading (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Recently, I purchased a set of terrific books and just started reading the first one. The books are Conversations with Angels: And So Be It (2008), and So Be It: Conversations with Angels Volume II (2010) by Dror B. Ashuah. In the book I’m currently reading, Mr Ashuah shares the story of his personal journey and transformation from being a regular married guy to a spiritual seeker, to becoming a conduit for the uplifting, light filled messages he shares. The books are divided into short chapters; each sharing a story and/or pithy message. Both books also have several pages at the end, dedicated to what he calls the Message Guide (MG). The advice is to flip through the MG pages, scan and then choose/read a numbered paragraph that pulls you in. It reminds me a bit of how I used to scan the I Ching and choose a hexagram for contemplation. As Mr. Ashuah suggests, the books are not meant to be read in a linear fashion but as a contemplative tool/recipe book we reference as needed. I’m enjoying reading the first book, and my approach is more linear with an occasional reference to the suggested pages.

“When a human plants a seed of enlightenment, all around will begin to see the light. light does not have an agenda. Light does not try to convince anyone of its attribute. Light just reveals what is there.” Dror B. Ashuah

Reflections: Get Out Of Bed… Think. Be Happy. Love. think the opposite (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

What I also love about Conversations with Angels: And So Be It is that the language is clear and engaging. There are no archaic language constructions or vague phrases. Mr. Ashuah includes some specific experiences with angelic beings and the book reads like a series of deep meditations, received notes on the human condition, contemplations on our individual mission on this planet, and insights that I believe will resonate with most if not all of us. I won’t give away too much because I think each of us will have our own take from reading the books. Following Mr. Ashuah’s suggestion, I decided to flip through the requisite pages today with the clear intention of selecting one that will benefit and bless all who read it. I chose the following:

When those things that happen in the world seem scary, know deep inside that you were built for this mission. You are a lighthouse and you are powerful. This is why you came here at this time and no storm can hurt you. This is when you will feel that you are full. You will know that you are in the right place at the right time. There will be no more questions. Do you ever want to miss such an honor? (p178) “Get Out Of Bed” Dror B. Ashuah

Do we want to miss our life mission/dreams/goals/purpose by vacillating and being lethargic? We must be awake and ready to serve as beacons of love and light. We must get out of bed. With the message above in mind, I created a Joy Compass with 25 ways to honor myself. See below. You can create one too. Read my Joy Compass and more below. Thank you!

Create a JOY Compass today. Take a blank piece of paper and complete the following (statement) 25 times: I am following my joy when . . .” Robert Holden

Have a blessed weekend! What are your thoughts? What does your compass of Joy look like? When will you get out of bed? How often do you remember to administer self-care? What advice would you offer others? Do share! Thank you. 😉

*Please bear with me as I catch up on your blogs and commenting… I’m back on track with reading and responding to your blogs; albeit at a slow pace. Thank you all for your patience! 🙂

Positive Motivation Tip: Wake up, get up, embrace your light, get going… time waits for no one. Create your joy compass and enjoy your daily rituals. Relax.

A joy compass – I like the concept. I am getting better at setting it straight but it still seems like every once in a while there’s a day that makes me want to wear comfy clothes, lay on the couch and eat chocolate. May those days be fewer in the future!

    • 09/10/2012 9:43 am

We all have those days and they make us appreciate the rest even more… 😉 TY!

I like the idea too of making a joy compass. :+) I enjoyed reading your list. I also really like the third quote. I agree with that idea. I have found lately that experiencing a lot of difficult situations and feelings that the easiest way through it is just that straight through. The more I do this the easier it becomes. I think it helps me build courage at least those are my thoughts today. :+)

    • 09/10/2012 9:46 am

The more we do it the easier it becomes… I agree. and it speaks to much in life; a muscle we use. TY! 😉

It sure is a great insight… Hope all is well on your end! 😉

I never stay in bed once I’m awake – usually about 6am, why waste the day? and once I’m up I’m annoyingly happy, why waste time being miserable? life’s too short, live each day as if its your last 🙂

God bless you Gilly! You are a class act… Stay happy! 😉

Is it OK if I stay in bed and read a book? 🙂 Do you know the Goodreads website? It’s wonderful, you can share and discuss books… This is another lovely post!

    • 09/10/2012 9:56 am

Do what you must! If you are content in bed, and have no pressing things to do, why move? 🙂

I love the idea of a joy compass! I really do! I’m feeling better balanced right now, I think because I’ve recently had a good vacation. Rest is key for me, too! I’m going to the beach this weekend and have every intention of taking in another sunset over the water. That will keep my joy compass bubble center for another week, I’m sure! 🙂

    • 09/10/2012 9:57 am

Welcome back from your vaca… It is always a good feeling after a grueling period to de-stress. 😉

  18. 11/08/2012 7:11 am

  19. 11/08/2012 9:15 am

It truly does begin inside us, doesn’t it? I’m dealing with family (in-law) issues at the moment and have to keep reminding myself of these principles. Thanks for this.
