Inspiration: Everything Can Change For the Better…

30/06/2012

“Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change.” Jim Rohn.

Inspiration: Everything Can Change For the Better…

Recently, I read a post from Joel Osteen titled Don’t Give Up. I get his inspiring tips and prayers – Today’s Word  – daily, and the timing of it was perfect. Joel’s post was exactly the message I needed to hear at that moment because I was struggling with some important change that had to be made. His soothing words and thoughtful, prayerful advice calmed me and, on reflection, I knew that I could meet the challenge ahead and battle it. The exact details are irrelevant, but what rings true for all of us is that we all experience life’s turbulence at different periods in our lives and nothing is more comforting than a kind, hope-filled and uplifting word. Since words carry enormous power and energy, we recognize and appreciate positive words and must be careful how we use words in our daily exchanges too… Everything can change on the turn of a word. Yes, you have won! Yes, you are hired! Yes, you have a clean bill of health! Yes, the project is done! Yes, to life…

“What can we take on trust in this uncertain life? Happiness, greatness, pride – nothing is secure, nothing keeps.” Euripides, Hecuba

Joel advices us in that message to “Choose to be around people who are going to encourage you and fill your heart and mind with God’s Word. Let a song of praise come out of your mouth.”  This is important because sometimes, our negative attitude and experiences are a result of the company we keep. If we surround ourselves with toxic people, then our efforts at positive change becomes a cumbersome ordeal. Things can and do change for the better… But first, we have to do our part with focus and a positive spirit. If we fall down while we are in the middle of our struggle for change, lets get up and chalk it up to the removal of another obstacle in our path. Everything changes for everyone and can change for the better… Believe it.

“Any path is only a path, and there is no affront, to oneself or to others, in dropping it if that is what your heart tells you.”  Carlos Castaneda

If you get Rolling Stone magazine, you might have read the riveting interview/story on homelessness by Jeff Tietz. The article “The Fallen,” walks us through the ever changing, shift-shaping lives of several people; families, elderly, young folk coping with homelessness. These are people from all walks of life whose worlds unraveled when they lost their homes, jobs, emotional support system,  and perhaps their mental stability. As Jeff put it, “They had good, stable jobs – until the recession hit. Now they’re living out of their cars in parking lots. The sharp, sudden decline of America’s middle class… ” Yet, in the midst of all that pain and suffering, profound changes occur. Some find new homes, new ways of handling the shame, new meanings about life, about people,   and above all, about themselves. On the surface, much might not change but on the inside, many have shifted their attitude and their thinking… Everything can change for the better. More below!

“To exist is to change, to change is to mature, to mature is to go on creating oneself endlessly.” Henri Bergson.

What I learned from Joel Osteen is to believe in the infinite possibilities  that arise from change, and to trust that all things happen for good. What are you struggling with  right now? Believe that everything you are struggling with can change for the better.   Stay Inspired! What are your thoughts? Have you been waiting for change? Do you believe that things can change? Do you see the power of faithful action in your life? Do share! Thank you.

*Please bear with me as I continue to catch up on your blogs and commenting… Thank you all for your patience!

Positive Motivation Tip: Trust and believe that all things can and will change for the better.

I like Joel Osteen too. His sermons are always pretty good. He gets his message across with some great stories. I remember a couple times when I was down and happen to run across his show or his website and he always had a good message that happened to coincide with my situation. Good post! Great first quote. 🙂

TY and I love his teaching of positivity too. He is a generous man and when I visited his church in Texas, I was impressed by the way he took time to meet all the newcomers at the end of the service. 🙂

Well said. I am not a religious person but when someone speaks the truth – it’s the truth no matter who they are. I agree totally. 🙂

I concur Stuart! The truth stands out and we can accept it or reject it. Thanks for your feedback. 😉

I’m glad you found the positive words you needed. I cannot think of anyone who deserves them more given what you do for all of us every day! Words have great power but only if we have belief and strength to pull us through the hard times. xoxo

So much going on my dear and you know that we have choices on how to respond/react. Thank you for your friendship… We really should meet for coffee by end of year. You are on the East Coast right? 🙂

This is exactly what I needed, I too have found inspiration from Joel Osteen’s books currently I am reading “Every Day A Friday” So many good things happen once you change your attitude to positive.

    • 02/07/2012 10:30 pm

Hi Katie, I agree with your observation… When we shift our attitude, we open corridors in our heart to be at peace with everything going on around us. His books are a source of great comfort to many. 😉

You have hit the nail on the head, as always!

Perhaps the most “freeing” concept I’ve come to understand is that happiness is a CHOICE! My goodness!!! The day I realized this core truth was the day I began taking my power back, and by power, I mean control over my life! No more “if this happens….then i will be happy;” or “if my past decisions were better, I’d be better positioned…and happier.”
no, no, no! Thinking like that gives ALL your power away, and lets other people (or events) define your day-to-day.
For anyone going through this struggle now: Tomorrow morning get up and say, “Today I choose to be happy, and if I don’t feel it, i will act “as if” I do.” Repeat that mantra EVERY day. At bedtime, as you review the day’s events, you WILL notice a difference in what you get back from a world that sees a less negative, more postive you!.

Bless you, Eliz, for bringing up this very worthwhile message!

    • 02/07/2012 10:34 pm

Thank you for your feedback… Happiness is a choice and we get to choose how it impacts our day. I think you made an important point that if we keep looking for it outside ourselves, we give our power away. Once we decide to focus on our own growth, we come to learn that honoring our self is a powerful decision. TY! 🙂

I’m getting better and better at understanding how change is usually for the best. It’s difficult, but the phrase, ‘Let go, Let God’ comes to mind.
    Great post Elizabeth!

Yes, Let go, Let God comes to mind a lot of late and I find it empowering too; especially in dealing with people who are into petty, mean, game playing. 😆

It’s funny – I just had a long Skype chat with my son in London. The possibility of an interesting and fulfilling job has changed his whole outlook to upbeat. He sees everything in a different light. Your blog post reflects this same mood! He has definitely chosen to be happy, and it made ME feel so good!

    • 02/07/2012 10:39 pm

Excellent and thank you for sharing your joy with me. I wish your son lots of success in his new opportunity! That he has chosen to be happy is simply awesome. 🙂

The biggest hindrance to changing something in our lives for the better is the lack of our own actions to tackle that change.

    • 03/07/2012 8:39 pm

True… once we commit, we get a ton done… 😉

  13. 03/07/2012 5:18 pm

It’s great you found inspiration. A good question to ask ourselves is “do we want to sound like we are a victim or do we want to change our story? What do you want your narrative to be?” These are words of wisdom I heard recently.

    • 03/07/2012 8:48 pm

Great question you posed… Great words of wisdom too. 😉

Finding oneself homeless, next to losing one’s health, must be one of the worst things to endure. I would love to hear the inspirational individual stories from the current economic crisis. With will, things definitely can change for the better.

    • 05/07/2012 3:15 am

Yes… things can and do change. The article was not entirely dismal, it showed how some of the homeless interviewed were able to find a home again. It was a powerful piece without any sugar coating.

  17. 05/07/2012 7:44 am

Beautiful and inspiring! I know that there is a quote that says something like: there is always a happy ending. If you are not happy, then it’s not the end.
    🙂
    Bless you!
