Reflections: Affirmations Open Doors…

25/06/2012

“An affirmation opens the door. It’s a beginning point on the path to change.” Louise L. Hay

Affirmations are like seed planted in soil. Poor soil, poor growth. Rich soil, abundant growth. The more you choose to think thoughts that make you feel good, the quicker the affirmations work. Louise L. Hay

Do you believe in affirmations? Do you start your day with affirmations and prayers? As Louise Hay explains in the quote above, affirmations are seeds we plant for ourselves with words we choose to use daily; they can be negative or positive seeds. If we want positive results from our affirmations, we must repeat them several times a day, some suggest 50-100 times daily, ideally in front of a mirror. We could also write them down in a journal/notebook and then, each day, choose an affirmation and write it down about 15-20 times; over and over again throughout the day.
• We deserve peace and abundance. We are worthy. Only good meets us at the door of our heart.

“Belief consists in accepting the affirmations of the soul; unbelief, in denying them.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

The goal of an affirmation is to bring us, and others, a positive outcome, peace and abundance. But we must stay the course of making a positive difference in our lives. Affirmations are like a muscle, the more we use them, the stronger the expected results. Anything we do consistently and with conviction soon bears fruit… and that fruit might take 3-6 months or more to mature. I’ve added seven affirmations to this post. (you may replace We with I) Enjoy them with an open heart.
• We rise above the limitations of our past. We are present and fully engaged in our blessings.
• We answer in the affirmative to all the good around us. All our needs and desires are met.

“Constant repetition carries conviction.” Robert Collier

If you’ve lived, you’ve had your share of disappointments and hurts and they can take a toll on the human psyche. Even a mean word expressed in anger has tremendous energy behind it. If we can refrain from using those words on ourselves and others, the release will bring a lightness and joy to our space. We can start our day by standing in front of a mirror and repeating some of the inspirational affirmations included in this post or any you have written or culled elsewhere. One affirmation a day will suffice.
• We are the embodiment of love and it flows into the world like a tidal wave.
• We choose events and outcomes that invite uplifting opportunities into our lives. We are more than the sum of our experiences.

“Affirmation without discipline is the beginning of delusion.” Jim Rohn

Like all things that hold value in life, affirmations coupled with discipline help us achieve our goals. However, we must move our feet first and act with confidence and faith… When I started writing this blog, I had no idea where or what it would yield. The first couple of years were extremely demanding as blog friends, traffic and ideas came and went; surely as night becomes daylight. We learn to become steady and not pulled by shifting winds.
• We are kindness and goodness personified. Every good deed we do makes us stronger and blesses the earth.

“I figured that if I said it enough, I would convince the world that I really was the greatest.” Muhammad Ali

Mohamed Ali believed he was the boxing champion of the world and for years he was… We can invoke the power and blessings of affirmations to help us overcome obstacles and lethargy. This is not WooWoo magic but commonsense principles of living that work. What are your thoughts? Do you use affirmations? How have they helped in your life? How do you spend and use your time? Do share! Thank you. 😉
• We’re aware of the impact our words have on others, and resolve to no longer spread a message of darkness but one of light.

Please bear with me as I continue to catch up on your blogs and commenting…Thank you all for your patience! 🙂

Positive Motivation Tip: Enjoy an affirmation a day; one you create or find. Cherish them all!

Positive is the only way to be, in this big wide wonderful world. Without a positive attitude, we are lost.

    • 02/07/2012 12:23 am

That is true because there is enough nastiness and pettiness to make us want to respond in like manner… but it is not worth it.

  2. 26/06/2012 5:29 am

Thanks to your post, my new affirmation is ‘I am okay’ – well it’s a start!

Affirmation plus discipline are the formula. I guess I need to start by affirming to have discipline! 😉

I loved the line about Woo Woo magic at the end- you made me laugh. The whole of the rest of the post is inspiring. I am putting it into action today! Thank you, Elizabeth. I’m on my way to do good deeds. 🙂

    • 02/07/2012 12:27 am

You are funny Karen! Put your good deed hat on and go show what it takes. You have a law degree; that took huge discipline to accomplish. 🙂

You have to choose your way of thinking and embracing the happenings in your life…I choose positivity all of the time…NO negative vibes for me!…and it’s hard sometimes to keep others negativity at bay…but, I certainly work on it constantly…by, teaching them in a gentle way …how much happier you will be when you look on the positive side…GREAT INSPIRING POST!…will keep this in my mind for some time…~mkg

    • 02/07/2012 12:28 am

TY Mkg! I agree wit your observation. Negativity is easy work but takes too much energy and a waste of time. 😉

Beautiful photos to illustrate this post. I have just begun following Louise L Hay, and am just beginning to add affirmations to my morning meditation time. This is a relatively new practice for me, but it is amazing how one’s attitude and moods are uplifted when thinking in positive ways about his- or her-self. I am a positive thinker about this world and possibilities, and all sorts of stuff, but to apply that to myself is incredibly liberating!

    Great post!

Great to read this Cecelia and it does work… I find that when I stay away from the negative, my energy level is higher and I don’t feel so drained. 🙂

Thank you for this post! I am putting the daily affirmations into place everyday and how things change around you. It is a constant struggle to stay centered, grateful daily and remain in the present. But I am looking at my present situation with gratitude. I surround my day with positive affirmations.

    • 02/07/2012 12:34 am

Amen to your effort… It can be a struggle for all of us because of the normal distractions of life. We can keep affirming and returning to center… Same for everyone I suspect. TY! 🙂

I sometimes use affirmations, when I have a problem I remember how powerful it can be. I suppose I use them in the way that others use prayer.

    • 02/07/2012 12:35 am

Yes, they are a form of prayer anyway. I use them too and they are powerful. TY! 🙂

  11. 26/06/2012 1:59 pm

I believe totally in the necessity of affirmations to my prayers and to my discernments about where the Holy Spirit is leading me, dear EOF. These beautiful photos truly affirm that is a very right and good thing for me to be rejoining you on this great blog today!

    • 02/07/2012 12:36 am

TY Granbee! I appreciate the feedback and I see the prayer and blessing in an affirmation. 😉

I am a huge believer in self talk and affirmations. It has definitely worked for me. It makes me aware when I slip up occasionally and say to myself, “idiot!” or something to that affect. Even little slips like that can create negative energy.
    Great post Elizabeth!

True and I am being more attentive to that pesky little habit too. TY! 🙂

  13. 26/06/2012 4:38 pm

It is so easy to get tripped up in negative self talk. I like your idea better of affirmation. Thanks for sharing. M

    • 02/07/2012 12:38 am

TY Miriam and that negative self talk can become a habit that creates more issues for us… 🙂

  14. 26/06/2012 11:35 pm

I start the day with prayer. Never thought of it as an affirmation before, but it is 🙂

    • 02/07/2012 12:38 am

Yes it is a form of affirmation… TY! 🙂

  15. 27/06/2012 3:26 am

My natural waking state is clouded by something called Diurnal Variation, so I start the day with an “I can do this” admonishment (rather than affirmation) to myself and it gets better from there 🙂

    • 02/07/2012 12:39 am

WoW! I have not heard of that term but what you do to move your day forwrad is an affirmative act. Keep it up! TY! 🙂

  16. 27/06/2012 9:44 am

Good post. Power of positive thinking!

  17. 27/06/2012 8:47 pm

Love the post! I begin and end my day with affirmations. I believe the way you end your day is the way it will begin.

Great point! Lately, I’m up late and end the night tired… I use prayer and affirmations t see me through the day. TY! 🙂

I’ve always believed that the world is sustained by the acts of good people who uphold dharma and keep us from imploding… more energy for good is needed. TY! 🙂

More energy and more great cheerleaders like yourself, Elizabeth. Rah! 😉

Louise L. Hay was a very important part of my life in 1993 when I came out of the closet after considering suicide of religion and sexual orientation.

I absolutely believe in affirmations. Our words are containers of power for good or bad, and life and death are in the power of our tongues. We can prophesy good or bad into our own lives. It only makes senses to speak positively.
