Musings: Other Faces of Beauty…

She Walks In Beauty by Lord Byron
She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that’s best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes:
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies. Contd below

Our solar system offers many wondrous and beautiful images; illuminating us and our world. I spent some time on the NASA site today reading about the upcoming Transit of Venus scheduled for June 5-6, 2012; something that won’t happen again for many years to come. I clicked around the site and started looking at the remarkable images they captured of our planet and others further away from us. It was a great reminder that there are many other faces of beauty and we can all show our appreciation by embracing this diversity on our planet and beyond. I’ve added some more shots below for your enjoyment.

One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o’er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express
How pure, how dear their dwelling place.Contd below

The worlds beyond our world are magnificent and colorful. As scientists continue to explore and discover new forms of life miles under the sea, and as they delve deeper into the galaxies around us, it becomes apparent that our standards of beauty are rather limited… We can take a moment to step outside of our place on the raisin loaf and see the larger world and what it offers us. Perhaps, this consideration would open our minds to appreciate all life forms, all people, all faiths, and all ways of being and living… After all, we are not alone. More below!

And on that cheek, and o’er that brow,
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent! via famouspoemsandpoets

Since we are all bombarded daily by ascribed images of what beauty is or should look like on planet earth, it is easy to forget that our definitions of beauty are narrow and could be more inclusive. Perhaps we can learn a thing or two from other galaxies. 😉 Enjoy! Stay Inspired! What are your thoughts? What other faces of beauty come to mind? What poem comes to your mind? What does it say about our plant and the diverse life forms here? Do share! Thank you. :-)

*Please bear with me as I continue to catch up on your blogs and commenting… Thank you all for your patience! 🙂

Positive Motivation Tip: Embrace the beauty of our solar system… Our solar system offers many wondrous and beautiful things; illuminating us and our world.

    What a beautiful post. I think you caught it all in this one statement you made: “We can take a moment to step outside of our place on the raisin loaf and see the larger world and what it offers us. Perhaps, this consideration would open our minds to appreciate all life forms, all people, all faiths, and all ways of being and living… After all, we are not alone.” Beautifully said!! 😀

    Sometime what we think not beauty, it is beauty, and the other way around.
    We really need to open our eyes, so we will not miss to see the beauty 🙂
    I love those pictures! very nice, Eliz 🙂

    Yes, it is all there for us, only if we are ready to open our eyes and take a look.

    • 24/05/2012 2:39 am

      True… and we would be amazed at what we seen when we take time to really look around our world… I surprise myself daily when I practice this. TY! 🙂
