Inspiration: Happy Mother’s Day… To all mothers and daughters

Happy Mother’s Day! Do you remember this poem? It is a classic and one we recited in school for years. If you’ve ever wanted a poem that asks some of the heart-tugging questions we hold close to our chests, and that will stick to you like an ear-worm, this is perfect. Blessings to all mothers, daughters, grandmothers and beyond. sleep sleep my pikin oh.
When I dey hungry, my mother go run up and down.
she go find me something when I go chop oh.

for if you forget your mother you’ve lost your life.
This song was a huge hit in the 1970s and kids would dance to it in the streets. It is written in Pidgin English. I’ve added two versions because the one by Tilda has a fun video with dancing in it. I hope you enjoy it. If you listen carefully, you’ll understand the words. I’ll look for a translation and add it later. Enjoy! Stay Inspired! What are your thoughts?
