I love the Supermoon and its unique qualities and energies. So you can imagine my delight when I read about an impending Supermoon; scheduled to brighten the night sky on May 5th. A SuperMoon is a term coined by astrologer Richard Nolle, in 1979, for a phenomenon that occurs when the moon appears to be both larger than the norm and closer to the earth. It is according to notes in Wikipedia “the coincidence of a full moon or a new moon with the closest approach the Moon makes to the Earth on its elliptical orbit, resulting in the largest apparent size of the moon’s disk as seen from Earth.” The technical name is perigee-syzygy of the Earth-Moon-Sun system. I found some examples on NASA and have shared same with you. The videos share vital information and the poetry compliment the moon in all her magnificence.

😆 I’m glad I mentioned it then. I I have my credits and attributions at the bottom of my post above my signature. I always give credit when the photos are not mine. The best part is that Wikipedia helps me find photos in the public domain and I add credits at the end. They all came from NASA. 🙂

I wish you could experience a night on my back porch. I have photos of the moon as seen from my back yard perch that are unbelievable. If I was computer savvy, I would share them with you right here; but this old gal just learned how to use the pull down menu on my computer. 😉

Just perfect photos! I love them! I was in awe Saturday night and caught in the most beautiful sight…I kept trying to take photos, which with my camera and ability was pretty funny! But I tried. I remember seeing a news report on this. The moon was larger than normal, but it was too cloudy where I live to see it. Oh well. At least I knew about this.
At least we get to see the aftermath of shots shared by others. 😉

The moon is so beautiful when so large in our sky whether day or night! I did peek at it a bit but it was hidden behind so many trees where I live low on the horizon. So much has been written an can be written: an enigma, powerful yet relatively small, here before and after our life spans, desolate yet inviting…
