Monday Musings: Inspiring Messages To Fuel Our Spirit…

16/04/2012

“I love you when you bow in your mosque, kneel in your temple, pray in your church. For you and I are sons of one religion, and it is the spirit.” Kahlil Gibran

Thought for Today: “That is how authentic power is created — intention by intention, and choice by choice. You cannot wish it, pray it or meditate it into being.” Gary Zukav Thought For Today via Oprah.com Newsletter

“For the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: ‘If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?’ And whenever the answer has been ‘No’ for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.” Steve Jobs via Thoughtful Mind

We read inspirational messages for a reason, they uplift our spirit and help us start our day in a positive way. Some of us write our own, and the rest of us read the beautiful messages that find their way to us from a variety of sources. Today, I looked through my email folder and decided to share some of the messages I receive on a daily basis. These beautiful messages usually arrive after midnight and set the tone for the day. I have identified the source of each one in the block quotes. For instance, above, I’ve shared two quotes/messages that I received today from Oprah.com Newsletter and Thoughtful Mind

“Great men are they who see that spiritual is stronger than material force, that thoughts rule the world.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

“What is your idea of heaven on earth? Have you ever taken the time to consider this?” Don Miguel Ruiz via Daily Inspiration

“But these things I plan won’t happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient! They will not be overdue a single day!” (Habakkuk 2:3 LB) When God Says Wait by Rick Warren via Purpose Driven.com

The music above is very soothing and comes from an album that was suggested on Daily Om Music. I spend some time each day reading these words of wisdom and then I file them away for future reference…. Above are two more messages for the day and these two are from Don Miguel’s Daily Inspiration and Rick Warren’s Purpose Driven.com You are welcome to subscribe to any of them and a daily nugget of wisdom will be delivered to your email box. I find that there is always something in the message that is spot on and speaks to what I need to reflect on in my life. Enjoy! More below. 😉

“Let your mind start a journey thru a strange new world. Leave all thoughts of the world you knew before. Let your soul take you where you long to be…Close your eyes let your spirit start to soar, and you’ll live as you’ve never lived before.” Erich Fromm

Touch – Healing Our Bodies: Incorporating human touch in to our everyday lives is vital to the healing of our emotional and physical selves… Today’s Inspiration via Daily Om

Scripture of the Day: “As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. 15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” – 1 Peter 1:14-16 NIV via Daily Devotionals

Daily Om is one of my favorite sites, and they offer more than their Thought For The Day message. I like to visit and listen to the music offerings and peruse the many courses they offer to uplift body, mind and soul. Daily Devotionals from Streaming Faith has a huge following because they offer not only scriptural readings but great motivational and personal pieces from their daily contributors… I love that they present us with new, inspired guest writers every day. Coming soon: Robert Holden of Happiness Now/Shift Happens will start offering a daily inspirational email on 4/23. Do subscribe!

“Deep listening is miraculous for both listener and speaker. When someone receives us with open-hearted, non-judging, intensely interested listening, our spirits expand.” Sue Patton Thoele

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE “Then I told them about how the gracious hand of God had been on me…” (Nehemiah 2:18, NLT)
A PRAYER FOR TODAY: Father, thank You for Your gracious hand upon my life. Thank You for loving me. Thank You for setting me free. Thank You for giving me the advantage for success. Today I choose You, I choose Your ways, and I choose Your favor in Jesus’ name. Amen. Via Daily Devotionals on JoelOsteen.com

A few years ago, I spent some time at Joel Osteen’s Church in Texas. I was there for a workshop and attended a fantastic and inspiring Sunday service. If you know anything about Joel, you’ll know he preaches a positive message and has a mega church that seats thousands. However, what touched me more than anything was the fact that after the service, he still took time to meet with and welcome everyone who was visiting his church for the first time. Joel and Victoria, his wife, met and spoke with each of us in the main entrance of the church. We stood in an orderly line and they walked down the line connecting, praying, speaking and even taking photos with anyone who asked for it… Now that was inspirational. I hope you find something that calls to your spirit from the selections here. Have a spirit filled day and week ahead.

What are your thoughts? Do you receive daily inspirational messages? How does it impact your day? Do you have a favorite? Would you recommend a few? Do share! Thank you. 😉

*Please bear with me as I continue to catch up on your blogs and commenting… Thank you all for your patience! 🙂

It’s 6:25 a.m. I just finished praying and meditating. Listening now to Douglas Spotted Eagle. Soothing. What a beautiful way to wake up and ease into my day.
For years, I’ve read Simple Abundance. I also love Louise Hay and others. Will have to try the daily email idea. Another great post, Elizabeth. Ty!

Thank you for Habakkuk 2:3, which I didn’t know I needed today, but I needed…” today”. And the Scripture from1 Peter1, I so love to aspire to… everyday.

    GOD BLESSES!

I agree and keep an open mind to the source of positive messages… It’s the message not just the messenger that matters. TY! 🙂

If you have a moment go read wwwsecretdiaryofadublincallgirl.wordpress.com. It isn’t my blog, but it is powerful. I read it last night and it is still with me.

    Be encouraged!

    • 17/04/2012 1:43 pm

Will do and TY! Stay Inspired and Blessed! 🙂

I enjoy reading the quotes you provide and sometimes write them down. I can absorb negativity so easily, and itnisnvery important to me that I steep my mind with positivity. I listen to Hay House radio a lot…an Internet station founded by Louis Hay. The speakers are Wayne Dyer, Doreen Virtue, and many others…even those who may get a little “out there” for me at least are positive and uplifting. Debra

    • 17/04/2012 1:46 pm

TY Debra! I am a Hay House supporter and community member but didn’t include it because I don’t get a daily word from them but a series of many uplifting topics and upcoming events. I will go look at my stash and see if any contained a quote and then share it. I love Hay House and have taken many courses and workshops with them… Ditto Omega Institute. TY! 🙂

      • 17/04/2012 1:49 pm

I get the Omega Institute catalogue and just drool over it! 🙂 How great! D

      • 17/04/2012 1:53 pm

Same, and I imagine spending time there marinating in the courses and environment… 🙂

  13. 17/04/2012 6:59 pm

Wonderful uplifting messages in both word and photos. Great share! Thank you.

When on my computer I visit SacredSpace.ie. They have a daily prayer with meditations that is wonderful. And when I can I vista the chapel at my church and just seat or kneel and pray.

    • 19/04/2012 11:12 am

I will check it out as I’ve never heard of the site… It sounds terrific too. TY! 🙂

  15. 18/04/2012 2:44 am

Thanks for sharing. Excited to check out the sites!

    • 19/04/2012 11:09 am

  16. 18/04/2012 5:48 am

I subscribe to a Poem a Day – sometimes, but not always inspirational, but certainly gets me out of my thinking box 🙂

    • 19/04/2012 11:11 am

Sounds wonderful… wish I could still write poetry… The skill vanished in adulthood for me… 🙂

  17. 18/04/2012 12:32 pm

Paulo Coehlo is my inspiration. I love the message in the Alchemist –that when we follow our dreams, the world stops getting in our way. As a writer, anytime I’m feeling lame and talentless, I reread the forward from the Alchemist. 🙂

I love this quote – thank you so much for sharing it ~

“For the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: ‘If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?’ And whenever the answer has been ‘No’ for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.” Steve Jobs via Thoughtful Mind

Deep Listening is a quality I have been praying for and working towards and meditating heavily upon ever since Ash Wednesday this year. I continue in this Deep Listening walk, aided by the Spirit! I am so pleased to learn about the Daily Om website and its features.

    • 22/04/2012 10:26 pm

TY Granbee! I’m working on those too… deep listening is important amid the noise and chatter. Be Blessed!
