Weekly Photo Challenge: Arranged…

Weekly Photo Challenge: Arranged...

All around us are examples of order and disorder, chaotic and cohesive efforts to manage the world we inhabit. I love this week’s Photo Challenge – Arranged – because it gives us an opportunity to look around our surroundings for both man-made and natural forms of the term; to seek creativity in the magical and the mundane. Recently, I took a trip to one of my favorite supermarkets – Whole Foods – to take some pictures for our photo challenge on INDULGE. I took tons of photos of their exquisite displays of food items. For your enjoyment, I will share a new set of photos of arranged items from there and elsewhere… Come back later for the rest. TY! 🙂

“I work from awkwardness. By that I mean I don’t like to arrange things. If I stand in front of something, instead of arranging it, I arrange myself.” Diane Arbus

I love the colors of the fruit and vegetable sections… What I found impressive was the way the vegetables were placed to complement textures and colors…

“It’s all in how you arrange the thing… the careful balance of the design is the motion.” Andrew Wyeth

Ladurée is one of my favorite macaron shops. I love the way they display their wares in lilac and green boxes, and I would encourage everyone to try eating just one macaron; quite impossible. Those colorful little macarons melt in your mouth and are full of flavor. Indulge.

The burgundy forms were in the nearby woods at Storm King. I wondered if they were merely artistic pieces or meant to ward off small animals… What do they look like to you? The tomato baskets are from a local farm… Delicious. More below. 😉

I’ll eat dessert first any day… But I must say that the gelato, mini tarts and cakes will satisfy any sweet cravings we have… Plus, they are made fresh daily. Yum… More below. 😉

Weekly Photo Challenge: Arranged… Chocolate!

The perfect way to end an indulgent day is with flowers and chocolates… Here’s sending you your virtual share. Enjoy them and arrange to pass them on. 😉 Have a Happy Palm Sunday!

Hope you enjoyed this! What are your thoughts? What photos depicting Arranged did you find? Was it easy/hard to find photos that made sense of your views on the subject of Arranged ? Were you drawn to certain types of photos for the prompt? Do share? Thank you! 🙂 😉

My fellow bloggers were equally creative with their selections. I listed several via Zemanta below. I appreciate TRACKBACKS/PINGBACKS & LIKES from fellow bloggers too! Check out how others interpreted the theme ARRANGED below. ***

This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post: Weekly Photo Challenge: Arranged. Sometimes you chance across things which were arranged on purpose, or on a whim – find something in your environment which was arranged by a human hand for others to enjoy! Share a picture that means Arranged to you!

Positive Motivation Tip: When we make the effort to arrange our lives according to our plans, events occur that remind us to go with the flow… See the gift in that.

I think your selection captures the topic perfectly. As usual, I like all your photos but the one with the tomatoes is the one I kept going back to – reminded me of many happy holidays in Italy and France, just want to bite into one

I loved those baskets too. They had a huge cart with tons of them lined up. It was a very pretty sight… and now you mention it, France does come to mind. TY! 🙂

Super photos – your Wholefood Market looks so abundant! It reminds me of trips to Europe – a micro-vacation here on my iPad (I’m reading this from my bed.) That’s what I love about the Blogoshpere, it brings me snapshots of so many interesting cultures. Thank you for your lovely, well-arranged post, Elizabeth! 🙂

We cannot make order to anything around us.
But at least in our own apartment.
So interior design is an important thing.
We like for example the ideas of
Terence Conran. He wrote some books…

These are all wonderful but I confess my favourite is Laduree. I think I will always have a soft spot for macarons 🙂

  8. 01/04/2012 5:32 am

I was going to do food, too, but you have done it perfectly! 😀

  9. 01/04/2012 6:51 am

Wow, you went all out on your examples. Good job. 🙂

Pingbacks and trackbacks rock!!!! I get really excited when I see them on my blog!!! I have a question about Zemanta…is there a “trick” to getting it to reveal accurate, topical results? I’ve been noticing I get one or two good matches and a TON that have little to do with the content in my post.

  11. 01/04/2012 9:06 am

Your photos perfectly illustrate the weekly photo challenge of “arranged”. The macarons and ice cream are bringing on a sweets cravings. 🙂

  12. 01/04/2012 9:26 am

The orchids shot really caught my eye. And I appreciate all the quotes you included, not to mention your tag line of Ask. Believe. Receive. Good thoughts for a Sunday, and any other day!

  13. 01/04/2012 9:34 am

Great entry for this challenge. Love all the photos (my fav is the one with the eggplants, bell peppers)…but most of all thanks for the intro to Diane Arbus; I was not familiar with her and I love her quote that you used. I have some reading to do.

  14. 01/04/2012 11:18 am

I have never been to a Whole Foods market. I love your arranged pictures. The olives are full and the peppers are in such order.

  15. 01/04/2012 12:31 pm

Eliz… I just knew those first photos were from Whole Foods! Nobody arranges food like they do! We live about 45 mins from the nearest WF. I have always wanted to take a photo of their magnificently arranged vegetables and fruit, but I always forget my camera. ;(
Your photos are marvelous, and your accompanying story is wonderful too. As always, you find the BEST quotes, that make a perfect match to your photos and text! Awesome job with arranged!!

  16. 01/04/2012 1:01 pm

I can’t remember what I said before but I just love the arrangements you have brought to us. The desserts, macaroons and ice cream – not that I have a sweet tooth of course – it all looks gorgeous. Once again thanks for all the time you put into your posts 🙂

  17. 01/04/2012 1:52 pm

These photos are excellent for this week’s theme!! Perfect!

  18. 01/04/2012 2:28 pm

Very colorful arrangement my friend ,great post 🙂

  19. 01/04/2012 2:33 pm

All of these are wonderful examples of this week’s challenge! Although I like each of them, my favorites would have to be the macarons and the tomatoes… The colors really pop in the first and I love the shapes and angles of the baskets in the tomato shot. Particularly since there is space between the slats of all the baskets except one on the top row and one on the bottom. Also really enjoyed the quotes – love the Wyeth! Great post! 🙂

  20. 01/04/2012 3:08 pm

A great selection of images. Good luck with your challenge.

Thanks for the follow. I must admit I haven’t posted much yet but look forward to reading your blogs.

    Best wishes

you captured arrange perfectly. Your collection really brings out to me the near obsession we have with having things orderly and arranged. What would it be like if the citrus was all mixed together. great colors, anyway. 🙂

  37. 04/04/2012 9:03 am

    Great examples of arrangement!

Why do I more often than not leave your site feeling HUNGRY? It is very unfair. 😆

Love the shots though – very good interpretation of the topic. Now, I’ll just scoot back to that shot of the……….
