The 54th GRAMMY Awards went off without a hitch tonight and was filled with joyful moments when favorite artists won, Adele cleaned house with 6 awards, and bittersweet moments when the departed were remembered/honored. Whitney’s name was on many lips; Jennifer Hudson gave a beautiful; albeit heart-wrenching, rendition of Whitney Houston’s I’ll Always Love You… Even with his recent Alzheimer’s diagnosis, Glen Campbell gave a riveting performance, reminding us all what a classy act he has been for many years. Wishing him well! Chris Brown’s performance and dancing was awesome. I’ve added a few videos from some of the performers I enjoyed; LL Cool J did a splendid job as host, and everyone else did a beautiful job both in their tributes to Whitney and performances.

Foo Fighters – Walk.

Cee lo Green ft. Melanie Fiona – Fool for You Official Video live
Nicki Minaj’s performance was, as always, over the top but very well choreographed. I was impressed by all the effort made to give the set a movie feel. Aside from the music I enjoyed, the performances were stellar. Rihanna gave a hot, hot, hot performance and Kate Perry‘s deliberate light malfunction was brilliant. Diana Ross received a lifetime award and looked amazing. If I could add videos from everyone, it would be great but you can watch on the Grammy.com site or scouting around Youtube. More below 😉

Adele – Someone Like You (Live in Her Home)
Tony Bennett & Amy Winehouse – Body And Soul
Kanye West, Jay-Z – Otis
Lady Antebellum – We Owned The Night
It would be remiss of me to not include the list of winners. Adele was the evening’s favorite with 6 wins. The Foo Fighters won big too with 4, Kanye West (with a couple collaborations) 3, Taylor Swift, and Cee Lo Green, took home 2 and Chris Brown and several others walked away with an award. Congratulations to all!

JH gave me goosebumps. Sublime.
Unfortunately, I only caught a bit of it as I was watching something else and switching back and forth. I find it difficult to sit thru 2-3 hours of award shows even when there are performers I like. But I did see Adele – glad she’s got her voice back.
I missed the tribute to WH and watching JH now, tears are rolling down my face. I never saw her in concert, never bought her CDs but I love her music and I’ve watched The Bodyguard over and over. (They were also showing The Preacher’s Wife on one of the local stations last night too.) Her music always urged me to move, to sing along, to smile. The NBC special last night just made me sad, sadder when I thought about her daughter, and her mother who never wanted her to go into the business. I hope she’s surrounded by a lot of love right now — all of them. I never cared for Bobbi Brown – nuff said about him!
Congrats to the winners.
We tuned in and out. Loved Brianna’s saucy performance . . . as well as Adele singing Rolling in the Deep. Thanks for the rap up, E!
I’m still asleep . . . Rihanna’s saucy performance. 😉
Thanks for putting all these clips together for all of us! I did not watch but I watched quite a few clips (Nicki Minaj!!) and enjoyed it this way! Had no idea about Amy Winehouse and Tony Bennett! Great post. 🙂
Thanks for providing so much information and links to many of the songs. Some of the show was fun with a tinge of sadness. Good job!

I enjoyed the ceremony more this year than most of late. I was hoping Adele would do well, and she sure did! Bittersweet, of course, with tributes to Whitney, and then Amy’s Grammy. Lovely evening, though. Debra
Great collection, you worked hard to bring this together for us, thank you!
I also heard about the honor shown to Glen Campbell and the regret from fellow tweeters over his Alzheimer’s. If this really true? How sad. This WAS a night to be always remembered. Bless you for your wonderful coverage here.
I love Adele! Glad to see she was the big winner last night.
I feel like I am probably one of the only people out there who completely missed the Grammy’s last night. Thanks for sharing a recap.
Thank you for sharing all of this, Eliz, I am in the same boat with Miriam, I also missed the Grammy’s, I only read from the news about this..
The Grammys were a bit muted as the memories of those lost were felt; especially Whitney Houston. Thanks for pulling together songs and photos of the event.

You have been busy, Elizabeth! I’ll have to come back and watch the clips when I have a few moments – as you can see I am way behind again!
I enjoyed it until Nicki Minaj came on… freak show in my opinion. I cringe everytime I see Chris Brown get any praise or publicity. Jennifer Hudson made me cry. It was a pretty good show.
Thanks
