Weekly Photo Challenge: Celebration…

14/12/2011

“The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.” Oprah Winfrey

Weekly Photo Challenge: Celebration... Celebrate life and all in it...

Weekly Photo Challenge: Celebration... Celebrate the holidays...

We celebrate all sorts of occasions; births, birthdays, holidays, good news, graduations, awards, deaths, achievements, and an endless list of happy, uplifting events. Celebrations give us a chance to honor those we love and get together to have a good time… They are important because they help us remember that life has meaning, is worth living, and that we benefit from acknowledging each other in a positive, celebratory way.

“Celebrate what you want to see more of.” Thomas J. Peters

Weekly Photo Challenge: Celebration... Celebrate over a good meal...

Weekly Photo Challenge: Celebration... Celebrate just because...

Let’s celebrate life, love, family, creativity, friendships, the basic necessities in life, and when we are done, let’s do it all over again. Don’t ever miss the opportunity, each day, to find something to celebrate. Above are celebrations; HS graduation for my twins, base of the holiday tree at the Metropolitan Museum, Thanksgiving dinner and a happy family gathering. More below. 😉

What do we lose by another’s good fortune? Let us celebrate with them, or strive to emulate them,That should be our desire and determination.” Sri Sathya Sai Baba

Weekly Photo Challenge: Celebration... celebrate birthdays.... honor the gift of life

Weekly Photo Challenge: Celebration... Join others to celebrate their birthdays...

Birthdays are truly one of the most important celebrations we have because they remind us that we have reached another milestone in our lives, and have more opportunities to honor and to celebrate it. To dismiss a birthday is almost like saying our life doesn’t matter… We don’t have to have a lavish affair but even a toast, a meal, and a prayer of thanks with loved ones would suffice.

“Celebrate the happiness that friends are always giving, make every day a holiday and celebrate just living!” Amanda Bradley

Weekly Photo Challenge: Celebration... celebrate with lights and stars...

Weekly Photo Challenge: Celebration... celebrate with fine chocolate... 😉

One of the wonderful joys of going to concerts is the celebratory nature of them. The excitement in the air, the anticipation of seeing a star we love, the event and the wrap up, all call for a celebration. I love the photo above of Chris Brown celebrating the wrap up of a successful tour, and of course, nothing beats chocolate when we are in celebration mode. Enjoy! 🙂

“This celebration here tells me that this work is not hopeless. I thank you for this teaching with all my heart and lift my glass to human solidarity, to the ultimate victory of knowledge, peace, good-will and understanding.Albert Szent-Gyorgyi

Weekly Photo Challenge: Celebration... Celebrate with confetti and lights!

In case you are wondering about the above, it’s a shot of the confetti and lights shower from Sade’s USA tour. As part of the wrap up celebartion in NYC, we were showered with sparkling confetti and lights at the end of the show… It was spectacular.  While I took this shot, it didn’t quite capture the sheer magnificence of that celebratory confetti falling around us… Celebrate every day! Celebrating our life and all life means we have another chance to make a difference. What about you? What does celebration mean or look like to you? Was it easy/hard to find the right photos for your examples of celebration? Were you drawn to specific examples for the prompt?  Do share? Thank you! :-) Happy Holidays! 🙂

This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post: Weekly Photo Challenge: Celebration    Celebrations! How do you celebrate something? Or is there an event / image / that causes you to celebrate? Find a picture that means celebration to you and share!

Positive Motivation Tip: Celebrate all that life has given you and more will come your way.

I watched a documentary this morning on last year’s tsunami. I’m celebrating my easy life. We don’t know we’re born.

    • 17/12/2011 11:53 pm

Yes, Tilly. I agree that when we stop to look around and see the carnage and sadness in life, we learn to truly appreciate each day.
Thanks for your feedback and Happy Holidays! 🙂

I love to celebrate with friends and family …and I don’t need much of reason to plan a party, pull out the good dishes, cook a meal and enjoy good conversations.

    • 18/12/2011 12:04 am

I like that approach and I bet the dishes are fierce… 🙂
Thanks for your feedback and Happy Holidays! 🙂

I like all of the celebrations you shared with us Elizabeth. Celebrations comes in different forms at different times. When my parents, aunts and uncles were alive we had festive picnic and dinners together. This brought the whole family together, and it was such a warm feeling. Now my celebrations of life are usually with a significant other, on a beautiful day discovering the world around us.

  23. 20/12/2011 12:13 pm

    WONDERFUL! Happy Holidays!

  24. 20/12/2011 4:44 pm

    Let the celebrations begin!!!
