Reflections: Everything Is Energy…

12/11/2011

“Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.”  John Muir

Reflections: Everything Is Energy... depiction of Newton's 3rd Law of Motion

This week, Oprah‘s life lesson course tackles the law of Karma; at least, that is how some of us would interpret Lesson 24: Newton’s Third Law of Motion: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. How aware are you of this law in your life?  Everything is made of  or generates energy; our bodies, our minds, thoughts, emotions, money, intentions and our life force. Whatever we do, is already done…meaning every action we take has an outcome, a response, a reaction, and with it comes our energetic reward; an outcome that corresponds with the tenets of Karma, The Golden Rule, and perhaps Retributive Justice. For those who are aware of the impact energy has on every facet of our lives, the advice is to be mindful of our actions, thoughts and desires/intentions… What we put out comes back to us; both positive and negative energy.

“It is only when you have both divine grace and human endeavor that you can experience bliss, just as you can enjoy the breeze of a fan only when you have both a fan and the electrical energy to operate it.” Sri Sathya Sai Baba

The course also offers us more three (3) more questions to consider on the subject of Action = Reaction.  Where have you put energy into the world that feels bad or “off”? Intention is Different from Wants: Who do you want to be in this life? Think of someone you know with unpleasant energy: Where are you creating the same energy in your own life?  When we make a conscious effort to act with integrity, and from a place of sincerity, our actions create corresponding energy channels to assist us. It could be as simple as the community work we do now creates positive dividends in the form of recognition and say, help getting a new and coveted job. Conversely, if we have put our energy into the world in a way that feels bad or “off” or condemns/negates others; say we’re constantly badmouthing people in our community, our negative energetic feedback would be mistrust and a level of disdain by other members of our community.  More responses to the questions below… 😉

“Passion is energy. Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you.” Oprah Winfrey

Intention is Different from Wants: Who do you want to be in this life?  Another way of looking at this question is to ask ourselves, who we want to be when we grow up or who we want to be remembered as…  As we go about our daily lives and functions, interacting, acting and reacting with people along the way, this is an important question to keep in mind. It addresses our soul’s calling, not what we want to wear to the ball. We all set intentions, goals or heartfelt wishes we hold dear, and then we have wants or superficial desires that are ego driven. The amount of energy we expend on our drive to achieve our dreams will shape our outcome. The question then becomes: how would our intentions benefit the world? Are they self-serving or world-serving?

“When you are in the valley, keep your goal firmly in view and you will get the renewed energy to continue the climb.”  Denis Waitley

Reflections: Everything Is Energy... A Ball Game depicting Action = Reaction= Outcome

Think of someone you know with unpleasant energy: Where are you creating the same energy in your own life?   I suspect we have all had exchanges with negative people in our lives or in our community; work, school, or locality. We might try to stay away from the negativity but sometimes we get sucked in until we can extricate ourselves again. The common adage, “you are the company you keep,” reiterates the danger of aligning ourselves with negative elements, for that energy attracts same and leads to dangerous behavior and outcomes. We must be mindful of the influence others can exert on us and vise versa. What are your thoughts? How do you use your energy?  How aware are you of this karmic law in your life?  Do you remember The Golden Rule in your interactions with others? Do share! Thank you. 🙂

This post was inspired by Oprah’s Life lessons Lesson 24: Newton’s Third Law Science tells us that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. But how does this law come into play emotionally for all of us?

ahhh…. so true. We forget these laws, Newton’s laws, so easily yet they play out in all aspects of our lives. “Focusing on what excites you” leads us down the path of authenticity, of creating the world that enlivens us, motivates us, changes us. Love the post! 🙂

What a thought provoking post! I love the connection between Newton’s law of motion and The Golden Rule. I’ll be chewing on that today — THANKS!

A post that will open the hearts of the many to what is good, pure and right. Good Karma is really true. When you have a genuine intention to help, love and share, people will sense that, and they too reflecting your goodness will do the same, little by little until they do become a medium of blessings for others. It’s like the “pay forward” concept. Same with the “golden rule.”
My parents showed me their unconditional love and now that I have a child of my own, I try my best to give that love back to my son. We need to start giving off the energy of goodness, the world needs it badly. Thank you my friend for shedding light each day through your posts. God bless you always.

Everything is indeed energy and I believe the more good enrgy we put out, the more good comes to our lives.
It might not come directly as we gave it but through other good meaning, well wishers.
I know that is true for me me and I send you blessings for same. What you are doing helps many and while it might not seem apparent, it does in many circles.
    Blessings from B

I know the power of Karma. It visits me daily. Sometimes good, sometimes not but always expected. I have two area’s in my life that I must work at everyday. It haunts me and sometimes creeps out in my words both written and spoken. I like your post very much. It makes all the effort I am putting forth worth it. And I like you. Thanks for letting me be a part of your blog.

So true about passion… If you feel it honestly you reflect or project to the outside.. I was listening to her earlier classes but once I came to India.. I could not access it any more!

  13. 14/11/2011 6:37 am

Sometimes my passionate goal is just to get through the day! After losing the longest trial of my life, I have sort of lost my way with my career in the law. I did not find good at the end of all the passion I expended. I have tried to find an understanding to no end. There was no “righting” of the wrong in this instance and it has stung me hard.

So I’m a bit of an oarless rowboat in a great sea, waiting for a wave of passion to take me toward the right shore. I know I have to make an oar out of something and steer myself but, I haven’t been able to as yet.

I’m stuck on this part of your post: “We all set intentions, goals or heartfelt wishes we hold dear, and then we have wants or superficial desires that are ego driven. The amount of energy we expend on our drive to achieve our dreams will shape our outcome. The question then becomes: how would our intentions benefit the world? Are they self-serving or world-serving?”

I hope to find the answer to that within myself sometime soon.

Another awesome post! I do especially love this one because I really wanted to see this entire episode, but OWN is not in Sweden (yet) :-). So I have only been able to watch a few clips of it. Which is why I am glad that you talk a bit about Newtons third law here. Because it is very fascinating indeed! Thank you Eliz. 🙂

Thank you for another inspiring blog! Energy can be positive or negative… It has taken me a while to understand karma and I can recognize it when I see it, now. It’s wonderful.

I learned a lot from this post and you asked some thought provoking questions that I’m thinking over. My main one: Are your intentions self-serving or world-serving?
    Food for thought. Wow!
