The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could

Life is full of possibilities and when the urge comes to act, we must seize the moment and act… I was driving upstate a few weeks ago, it was quite early in the morning and there were very few cars on the road. As I passed one beautiful, colorful set of trees after another, something in my spirit said, capture what you see on the road. I did and you can imagine how surprised I was when I received the email for this week’s challenge. Imagine the fortunate stroke of serendipity…
The picture of the road in Seattle was captured from my plane as we approached the airport to land… I looked out my window and what caught my eye, besides the open road, was the single yellow car in a sea of gray and black cars on a snowy winter day… The possibility of that happening was nil.

Then took the other, as just as fair,

The landscape in Bavaria is breathtaking and this was taken from the top of a castle… I looked out and the scene below was perfect. I imagined that, possibly, the people who inhabited the homes below me in that glorious landscape were perfect too. The weather was terrific, the air fresh and still, and the view before me looked like a brilliant, precise painting.
The treetops were captured on the same day I took the picture of the road… I was on an elevation looking below and what I saw was so beautiful, so stunning, I had to take a shot. The colors were vibrant and the trees looked so proud, as if to say, “Look at us, we are as varied as the earth, and we are proud of our colors.” If I were a bird, that might have been my vantage point; my view of the trees… Perhaps.

And both that morning equally lay

Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
The Pike Market Foundation Piggy Bank, found at the main entrance to the market in Seattle, Washington, makes wishes come true. Money collected is donated to the Pike Market Clinic, Senior Center, Childcare Center and Downtown Food bank… You may rub his belly or back and wish for jewels or endless opportunities for grace and success.
On a business trip to Denver, two years ago or so, I took a walk with a few colleagues and as we turned a corner, the Henry Moore dancers suddenly appeared and took my breath away… They were so huge and their bright white porcelain color was startling, but perfect. I was in downtown Denver and didn’t expect something so magnificent, elegant and gigantic to appear. Possibilities appear when we keep an open mind. They take our breath away and introduce us to the beauty in our surroundings. More below. 😉

As we travel the road of life, we come across many roads/paths to take and beautiful things to see and enjoy. We can enjoy the perfection of the landscapes and breathe in the beauty of nature. If we keep an open mind, we might even get to enjoy the endless adventures and opportunities life offers. The possibilities are limitless. At some point, we might become decisive and choose a road of our own. Perhaps, it will be the road less traveled… What are your thoughts? The possibilities are endless…and usually we are the ones that put up the barriers for ourselves to learning new things, going new places and meeting new people.
Many years ago we had a friend. When you would say, “Goodbye and take care” she would say, “No, don’t take care….take a risk!”
Life is a risk…but well worth it!

Possibility can be interpreted in so many ways. I love the choice you made and the use of the Robert Frost poem (which is one of my favorites as well!) Oh, if I were a bird…..well, a month ago I thought that I should be as close to human contact as possible. I would be unafraid of them. I don’t think anyone would mind if came to someone’s door and ask if they could spare some food with me, because, I could use it.
Now, that’s not the case. I would rather be 1000 miles away, in a forest, which nothing to look forward to but what is there. I would live every day the same boring way. I feel like I should be more boring, like a goth, rather than a nerd. That’s how I picture this now. That makes things easier for me.
I did like the pictures. In fact, I decided to place a snapshot of those bird’s eye photos in my mind and I imagined myself being there. That was fun.

Beautiful pictures! And a beautiful post. I love looking out of planes; you see so much you couldn’t possibly see from the ground. I’m a rotten seatmate as a result, because I spend the whole trip wildly enthusiastic while my rowmates want to sleep or work or whatever. Ah, well! Usually they get off smiling and that’s a good thing. Another wonderful post!
Oh that is funny… You are lucky that you haven’t met any grouchy passengers yet. They’d call the flight attendants and have you moved. 😆 I love window seats too as I like to look out and capture things I see; even the clouds. TY! 🙂

The shot of the yellow car amidst all the gray and black is an amazing capture – the possibility of that happening was zero; glad you seized the moment!
TY Barb! I was truly amazed when I captured it and took a long look at the outcome… It remains one do my favorite inflight shots… That yellow car was perfect.
It was a dreary day and our flight had been delayed for 4 hours at JFK. I was so happy to get to Seattle already and this was one reminder of my trip. I love that city. 🙂
