Weekly Photo Challenge: Possibility…

Weekly Photo Challenge: Possibility... Upstate NY: Endless possibilities captured...

Weekly Photo Challenge: Possibility... Seattle: View from a plane - Yellow car in a sea of black & gray

The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth; Contd below
Life is full of possibilities and when the urge comes to act, we must seize the moment and act… I was driving upstate a few weeks ago, it was quite early in the morning and there were very few cars on the road. As I passed one beautiful, colorful set of trees after another, something in my spirit said, capture what you see on the road. I did and you can imagine how surprised I was when I received the email for this week’s challenge. Imagine the fortunate stroke of serendipity…

The picture of the road in Seattle was captured from my plane as we approached the airport to land… I looked out my window and what caught my eye, besides the open road, was the single yellow car in a sea of gray and black cars on a snowy winter day… The possibility of that happening was nil.

God Can Dream a Bigger Dream for you… far beyond anything You could ever Imagine.”  Oprah Winfrey

Weekly Photo Challenge: Possibility... Gorgeous Bavarian landscape: A bird's eye view

Weekly Photo Challenge: Possibility... Upstate NY: Colorful treetops ... what the birds see.

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
The landscape in Bavaria is breathtaking and this was taken from the top of a castle… I looked out and the scene below was perfect. I imagined that, possibly, the people who inhabited the homes below me in that glorious landscape were perfect too. The weather was terrific, the air fresh and still, and the view before me looked like a brilliant, precise painting.

The treetops were captured on the same day I took the picture of the road… I was on an elevation looking below and what I saw was so beautiful, so stunning, I had to take a shot. The colors were vibrant and the trees looked so proud, as if to say, “Look at us, we are as varied as the earth, and we are proud of our colors.” If I were a bird, that might have been my vantage point; my view of the trees… Perhaps.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Possibility... Seattle: Wish Granting Pig at Pike Market entrance

Weekly Photo Challenge: Possibility... Downtown Denver: The Dancers... Henry Moore Sculpture

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
The Pike Market Foundation Piggy Bank, found at the main entrance to the market in Seattle, Washington, makes wishes come true. Money collected is donated to the Pike Market Clinic, Senior Center, Childcare Center and Downtown Food bank… You may rub his belly or back and wish for jewels or endless opportunities for grace and success.

On a business trip to Denver, two years ago or so, I took a walk with a few colleagues and as we turned a corner, the Henry Moore dancers suddenly appeared and took my breath away… They were so huge and their bright white porcelain color was startling, but perfect. I was in downtown Denver and didn’t expect something so magnificent, elegant and gigantic to appear. Possibilities appear when we keep an open mind. They take our breath away and introduce us to the beauty in our surroundings. More below. 😉

Weekly Photo Challenge: Possibility... Upstate, NY: The curve in the road ... to somewhere

Weekly Photo Challenge: Possibility... Upstate NY: An open road with an exit... Your choice.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference
As we travel the road of life, we come across many roads/paths to take and beautiful things to see and enjoy. We can enjoy the perfection of the landscapes and breathe in the beauty of nature. If we keep an open mind, we might even get to enjoy the endless adventures and opportunities life offers. The possibilities are limitless. At some point, we might become decisive and choose a road of our own. Perhaps, it will be the road less traveled…  What are your thoughts? Was it easy/hard to find photographic examples of possibility? Where you drawn to specific examples for the prompt? Was this prompt fun? Do share? Thank you! 🙂

You’ve been so many places I haven’t, Eliz…I thank you for sharing and taking me there. 🙂
The possibilities are endless…and usually we are the ones that put up the barriers for ourselves to learning new things, going new places and meeting new people.
Many years ago we had a friend. When you would say, “Goodbye and take care” she would say, “No, don’t take care….take a risk!”
Life is a risk…but well worth it!

    • 20/10/2011 2:07 am

Take a risk! I like that greeting… Hopefully a safe risk. 🙂 Thanks for your feedback and I’m enjoying the things you share about your holiday./time out. 🙂

TY Tilly! I didn’t have many shots to share this time and you know, it was okay with me; less is more sometimes. 🙂

I enjoyed this post, it actually made me even more aware of the possibility in the moment of my life. I love when writings inspire and uplift.

Thank you and I love that quote too… It is one of my fav reminders to embrace life and stay open to the possibilities. 🙂

  6. 20/10/2011 2:03 am

An excellent post for this challenge. What a priviledge to be able to view the world from that angle. Just like an eagle!

Thanks so much for regularly visiting and commenting on my blog. I haven’t been able to catch up on my reading and commenting much due to this migraine, but it will improve.

    • 20/10/2011 2:12 am

Hope you continue to heal from the migraine… it’s not easy.
TY for your feedback. I enjoyed this challenge and tried to stay focused on the subject at hand. 🙂

  7. 20/10/2011 2:59 am

“Life is full of possibilities”. I never forget the sentence. It’s a hope for us.

    • 20/10/2011 5:19 pm

Yes, it makes me hopeful too. I enjoyed the challenge very much. TY! 🙂

That picture of autumnal trees grabbed my attention. I just love the colours that autumn brings

    • 20/10/2011 5:31 pm

I wish my camera had done the trees justice. They were quite magnificent and the colors shimmered… TY! 🙂

  9. 20/10/2011 3:22 am

      TY John! I appreciate the feedback… I wonder what’s next? TY! 😉

  10. 20/10/2011 4:01 am

Your lovely pics and Frost’s poem remind me of the scene in Disney’s Pocahontas when she sings “Just Around the River Bend” — it’s just a little more watery…

    • 20/10/2011 5:36 pm

Ha ha, I don’t remember the scene even though I remember watching the video with my kids… TY for your feedback. Frost has always been one of my favorite American poets. 🙂

  11. 20/10/2011 4:31 am

I love the Bavarian shot – reminds me of New Zealand.

    • 20/10/2011 5:37 pm

Yes, NZ is such a beautiful country. I’d love to visit it one day… Probably around the same time I visit Australia. That would be awesome. TY! 🙂

  12. 20/10/2011 6:40 am

Beautiful photos and inspiring thoughts. You truly captured the moment and its just wonderful and moving. Impressive shot of the yellow car in the midst of monotones. Reminds me that I can stand out even if life is gray and cold at times.have a blessed day my friend. Wishing you and your family days of joy!

    • 20/10/2011 5:38 pm

I love your interpretation of the yellow car… Love it… Yes, we can stand out in the midst of monotones and embrace the possibilities that call us. TY for your feedback and blessings to you and yours too. 🙂

  13. 20/10/2011 6:51 am

Possibility can be interpreted in so many ways. I love the choice you made and the use of the Robert Frost poem (which is one of my favorites as well!) The picture of the pig at Pike Place Market made me smile and miss Seattle. And the photo of Bavaria looks too beautiful to be true. This post is very uplifting today! Thanks, Elizabeth! 🙂

    • 20/10/2011 5:40 pm

TY Karen! I’m with you on the Frost poem and I do love the other places I featured. I never knew you lived in Seattle? It is, in my opinion, one of the best places I’ve ever visited. I really feel in love with it. 🙂

Possibility can be interpreted in so many ways. I love the choice you made and the use of the Robert Frost poem (which is one of my favorites too!) The photo of the pig at Pike Place Market made me smile and miss the days of visiting there. And the photo of Bavaria looks like a fairy tale! So beautiful! This was a very uplifting post for me today, Elizabeth! Thank you!!!

I know I should probably delete this duplicate but what the heck… I accept your double applause. 😆

  15. 20/10/2011 7:37 am

Wonderful post . . . especially the Pike’s Pig and the Denver Dancers.

    Thanks, E!

    • 20/10/2011 5:42 pm

TY Nancy… I have some up close shots of the dancers, and will use them in a future post. They are quite stunning. 🙂

  16. 20/10/2011 8:31 am

Oh, if I were a bird…..well, a month ago I thought that I should be as close to human contact as possible. I would be unafraid of them. I don’t think anyone would mind if came to someone’s door and ask if they could spare some food with me, because, I could use it.

Now, that’s not the case. I would rather be 1000 miles away, in a forest, which nothing to look forward to but what is there. I would live every day the same boring way. I feel like I should be more boring, like a goth, rather than a nerd. That’s how I picture this now. That makes things easier for me.

I did like the pictures. In fact, I decided to place a snapshot of those bird’s eye photos in my mind and I imagined myself being there. That was fun.

    • 20/10/2011 5:44 pm

TY JH, They were not intended as bird’s eye view shots but ended up that way and I do love that they came out that way… TY for liking the shot . I do appreciate your feedback. 🙂

  17. 20/10/2011 9:58 am

Beautiful pictures! And a beautiful post. I love looking out of planes; you see so much you couldn’t possibly see from the ground. I’m a rotten seatmate as a result, because I spend the whole trip wildly enthusiastic while my rowmates want to sleep or work or whatever. Ah, well! Usually they get off smiling and that’s a good thing. Another wonderful post!

    • 20/10/2011 5:46 pm

Oh that is funny… You are lucky that you haven’t met any grouchy passengers yet. They’d call the flight attendants and have you moved. 😆 I love window seats too as I like to look out and capture things I see; even the clouds. TY! 🙂

  18. 20/10/2011 10:39 am

The best part of flying is the birds eye view. Great shots!
    thanks
    b

    • 20/10/2011 5:47 pm

Sure is a treat when flying… When the weather is nice, the scenery below can be simply amazing… TY! 🙂

  19. 20/10/2011 1:20 pm

The shot of the yellow car amidst all the gray and black is an amazing capture – the possibility of that happening was zero; glad you seized the moment!

    • 20/10/2011 5:50 pm

TY Barb! I was truly amazed when I captured it and took a long look at the outcome… It remains one do my favorite inflight shots… That yellow car was perfect.
It was a dreary day and our flight had been delayed for 4 hours at JFK. I was so happy to get to Seattle already and this was one reminder of my trip. I love that city. 🙂

  20. 20/10/2011 5:32 pm

That bird’s eye view of Bavaria–wow! And the upper state NY forest swathed in all that color–niiiiiice!

    • 20/10/2011 5:51 pm

TY for your feedback which I always appreciate… I can imagine what they would look like with your camera. 🙂

  21. 21/10/2011 1:34 pm

Have I mentioned before how envious I am of all the places you have been and things you have seen? WOW! BUT I am glad you have pictures so you can share all of it with us as I always love your photos! 🙂

    • 21/10/2011 1:50 pm

Ty Sharon, you are so kind. I haven’t seen all the places I’d love to visit in the world, so please don’t envy me … yet! lol. 😆
I wish I had pictures for all the places I have seen.. Some were on old cameras with printed copies that have disappeared in our moves… I love digital cameras. TY! 🙂

  22. 21/10/2011 1:44 pm

I went to Pike market once but I didn’t rub the pig. I didn’t see the pig. No wonder I’m still waiting for some of those dreams to come true!

(sorry I’ve been away for a while. I’m trying to catch up with your lovely posts).

    • 21/10/2011 1:54 pm

😆 Oh, you are so funny! I rubbed his belly and need to go back and do it again… I need some more luck over here. Welcome back! TY. 🙂

  23. 26/10/2011 2:01 pm

    Lovely selection, Elizabeth.
