Up is such a positive word on all levels and so this week’s prompt gave me much to celebrate and recall. We spend our hours looking forward, sideways, and even sometimes downwards, but to look up is to look for hope and joy and things that fascinate us… I’m always in awe of the skyline in major cities and the things we see when we take a moment to look up.

I find that when we look up around us, we are often caught by the surprise of a glimpse of something we might have ignored… a curve in a staircase, the beautiful colors in the sky, even the moldings in a ceiling; all add a sparkle to our feeling of being uplifted. We can then look for more signs of the positive to take home with us…

Sometimes what we see is different from what we expect, but the shots capture an essence in the sky that give us promise… like a sudden rainbow appearing in the skyline after a short late afternoon rain shower… This one appeared suddenly and soon formed a double rainbow. I love the surprise of rainbows and their message of hope.

At the end of the day, our up moments can be at eye level or in the sky and that is fine… Up is a commanding word; get up, look up, show up, turn up, stir it up, all positive calls to action. We can follow the exhortation and turn our dull moments to rejuvenating ones… What matters is how we feel when we see things that stir our hearts and make us joyful. I hope you enjoyed your UP shots. Oh Peter, you can check in with WP Support and they have a manual to help you upload pictures or use Zemanta to click and paste suggested photos to your blog. It is quite easy. I will look for the link and share it with you…
It does get addictive and then, if like me, you are constantly collecting photos. I love to shot random photos lately so I can have choices for the challenges when they appear. I use them regularly now; mine and theirs (Wikipedia’s).

I’m glad that you know Tokyo tower.It’s an old symbol in Tokyo.
I know Big Ben although I have never been to there..
I enjoyed our visit to Tokyo Tower and the top needle part was so scary and the air so thin up there that I felt dizzy… We took an extra elevator to get to the top part… Overall, I had a great time there with my kids shooting pictures… TY! 🙂

I agree… as a child, I used to look outside on wistful day and write stories in the clouds; each changing cloud pattern created a new story and the characters and locations changed… I was creatively observing my surroundings, and the sky still pulls that out of me. TY! 🙂
