Inspiration: Twelve Tips To Help Shift Our Attitude…

21/08/2011

Happiness is an attitude. We either make ourselves miserable, or happy and strong. The amount of work is the same.” Francesca Reigler

Inspiration: Twelve Tips To Help Shift Our Attitude... Behind every cloud is a sunrise...

♥ Happiness is an attitude. Embrace it in your blogging life.  Francesca Reigler quote

Since we started the Daily/Weekly Post Challenge, we have been prompted, encouraged, and presented with countless opportunities to get our blogging game on. Early in the year, we had to choose blog buddies, some fell off along the way, new friends connected, and all of our readerships and stats grew even if a tad. Some blog stats grew astronomically with getting Freshly Pressed, or being Stumbled. Otherwise, stats grew incrementally through our exposure and effort to connect with other  bloggers, via social sites, blog hops and other efforts to grow our blogs.

“It is your attitude, not your aptitude, that determines your altitude.” Zig Ziglar

♥ Improve your altitude … Broaden your vision  – Zig Ziglar quote
♥ Focus on Excellence and do the work – “Excellence is not a skill. It is an attitude.” Ralph Marston
♥ Make Meaning of Your Work, develop your brand, and aim for the positive – “The meaning of things lies not in the things themselves, but in our attitude towards them.” Antoine de Saint-Exupery

When I read the Daily Post prompt suggesting we revisit a post we wrote in January, I thought it would be a relatively easy task. I looked through my January blog posts several times, turned down a handful, and finally focused on three topics I felt would be of interest to my blog friends/readers. They were: Twelve Books to Uplift You, Seeing Each Blog-post Through, and Our Attitude: The Last Of The Human Freedoms.

“The greatest revolution in our generation is that of human beings, who by changing the inner attitudes of their minds, can change the outer aspects of their lives.” Marilyn Ferguson

Inspiration: Twelve Tips To Help Shift Our Attitude... Like Sunrise, go with the ebb and flow of the tide..

♥ Shift Your Mind and change your life –  Marilyn Ferguson quote
♥ Watch your thoughts vigilantly and protect them from negativity – “Every thought is a seed. If you plant crab apples, don’t count on harvesting Golden Delicious.” Bill Meyer
♥ Reach deep inside your being for the invincible you… he/she is waiting to support you. – “In the depth of winter I finally learned that there was in me an invincible summer.” Albert Camus

I decided that this post would be about  Inspiration: Ten Tips To Help Shift Our Attitude … January  Blogging Tips Revisited.  After much humming and hawing, I settled on the third pick of my three choices. The title of #3;  Our Attitude: The Last Of The Human Freedoms, by the way, was taken from a quote in Viktor E. Frankl‘s book, Man’s Search for Meaning. The quote says:

Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms – to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”  Viktor E. Frankl

Inspiration: Twelve Tips To Help Shift Our Attitude... Lucky cat - harder we work, luckier we become

♥ Our Attitude is a Choice…  – Viktor Frankl quote
♥ Keep Up Your Spirit and expect the good and then the great. – “Good fortune shies away from gloom. Keep your spirits up. Good things will come to you and you will come to good things.” Gloria Abelhas
♥ Change the things that get in your way or adjust to them – “If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude.” Maya Angelou

For this post, I have matched helpful quotes on Attitude with a tip to help us make the necessary mind shift, and get our blogging life, and our every day life moving forward. We don’t have to get stuck on old tapes and abandon our blogging efforts in the month of August because we find our energy and/or creativity waning…  Let’s imagine we are on the home stretch. We have spent 233 days / 132 days are left till 2012. We can accomplish our Blogging Challenge commitment if we plan ahead to schedule 132 posts, and prepare ourselves to wrap up the journey on a high note. The same applies to anything else in life.  More Below…

“It is very important to generate a good attitude, a good heart, as much as possible. From this, happiness in both the short term and the long term for both your self and others will come.” The Dalai Lama

Inspiration: Twelve Tips To Help Shift Our Attitude... A good heart offers all a four leaf lucky clover

♥ Maintain a good heart; In all things wish yourself and others well –  The Dalai Lama Quote (*bonus)
♥ Make a Difference; small or big, then own it and share you knowledge – “There is little difference in people, but that little difference makes a big difference. The little difference is attitude. The big difference is whether it is positive or negative.” W. Clement Stone
♥ Ability + Motivation + Attitude = Success. Engage them. “Ability is what you’re capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it.” Lou Holtz

We all need a bit of encouragement to continue in any endeavor we set our minds to… I hope these twelve tips will help us continue on the blogging path… and our life path. Let’s embrace the wisdom of the quotes and aim for our goals. They are within reach.  What are your thoughts? What tips help you shift your attitude best? What stands in the way? Do share! Thank you. 😉

This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post: Revisit a topic you wrote about in January. You can see a list of them HERE-JANUARY

Positive Motivation Tip: Shift your mind and shift your attitude. Reach for the stars and see yourself shine…

I finally learned that there was in me
    an invincible summer.”

    In the depth of words
I finally learned that there was in me
    a well of music.

I’m glad you find the correlation between Camus’s winter and your music… I’m sure they are all relevant to the human experience… 🙂

Good to know we bloggers face the same challenges to find inspiration. I find mine in nature – a wide sky and green things raise the writing energy tremendously

    • 22/08/2011 3:46 am

Nature is a great resource for me too… I find it offers its gifts without struggle or complications… A willing muse and supporter of the creative process… Thanks for stopping by. 🙂

  4. 22/08/2011 4:04 am

Great Post to use again Elizabeth….
I am not so much inspired by nature as by human nature. I love life, I love what and who I am and this is what I find comes from the heart and is more satisfying to write about.
It is a good thing that we can all write differently otherwise it would get so boring if it was all the same subject. It is good to get different perspectives.

    • 22/08/2011 4:22 am

Exactly… Sameness is dull. variety is the spice of life. I am a student of life; human and nature… It’s all of value to me… TY! 🙂

  5. 22/08/2011 4:21 am

That first quote is perfect. I didn’t know of it but I try to live by it.

    • 22/08/2011 4:39 am

I’m glad you found it meaningful… I thought it was a perfect introduction to the post. TY! 🙂

It is so very, very hard for me to look at–or think about–other words in the face of that top picture. Oh, my. My, oh, my.

    • 23/08/2011 9:41 pm

I loved that photo when I found it and had to use it… so perfectly crisp and quite apropos. TY! 🙂

I’ve always thought that happiiness is a muscle as well as the result of a set of circumstances so I love this post

    • 23/08/2011 9:42 pm

TY Peter! Glad you loved this one… I like the analogy of a muscle used… Food for thought that as it well is. 🙂

I can’t believe it’s already been 233 days! I haven’t blogged every single day, but I’m still hanging in there!!

    • 23/08/2011 10:34 pm

Hang in there, we are practically on the home stretch and if we have a few more six word stories like prompts, it will be easy peachy to complete the task. TY! 🙂

      • 24/08/2011 2:42 am

I’m ashamed to say I haven’t. I’ve been busy with all kinds of (fun) things, I guess I’ll post about that so you’ll hear all about it later!

No worries Lian, Post when you can and we will support you anyway. Enjoy the upcoming weekend! 🙂

My self-talk, verbal or silent, has much to do with what my attitude is at any given time. Realizing this I have found correcting myself when I am telling my self garbage yeilds a more contented me.

It’s interesting in the past if something untrue is said to me by another person like “you’re not a good father” or “you don’t care about the enviornment” I would argue my case with facts. But when I told myself such things I often believed them even when they were not true. Becoming a effective disputer of my own BS has served me well.

    • 23/08/2011 10:37 pm

The self-talk approach can be very therapeutic… really. I’m glad you liked this post. I love reading your gratitude pieces… every touching. 🙂

  14. 22/08/2011 6:13 pm

Thanks for your twelve tips, Elizabeth. I love the quote by Camus and the one by the Dalai Lama. Actually, they’re all perfect.
Speaking of blogging – I took this challenge on as motivation to write. I wondered if I’d be able to hang in there and I have. It’s become so ingrained I can’t imagine not doing it and that 233 days have passed since I began. How quickly time slips by!

    • 23/08/2011 10:39 pm

TY for your feedback Marcia. Yes, Camus is one of my favorite writers and I love his stuff… We have all done well to date and I’m grateful I took the leap to do this… even though it is quite challenging! No regrets. 🙂

Time has flown by and even though I haven’t commented a lot lately, I read your inspiring posts daily.
I hope you continue to recover from your pneumonia scare and finish the challenge on a high note too.
    You are a blessing too.
    B

Glad to see you back and thank you… I’m recovering slowly but surely. God is good. TY! 🙂

First of all, thank you for dropping by and LIKING my post. Such a gesture is ALWAYS appreciated! Finding such uplifting blogs is a bonus!

    • 23/08/2011 10:42 pm

TY for the follow back and comment. I enjoyed my visit and will stop by again. I appreciate the like back too. I’ve never understood why some of our fellow bloggers don’t get into the Like function. It is the coolest, nicest and easiest way to make a quick connection with others on WP. TY! 🙂

  17. 22/08/2011 11:55 pm

Interesting first quote. Very close to:

We either make ourselves miserable, or we make ourselves strong. The amount of work is the same. ~ Carlos Castaneda

I wonder who said it first?

    • 23/08/2011 10:44 pm

I like when we find similar quotes that are then adapted by others… Since I can’t find any information about Francesca, it would be interesting to find out the original source… I love the quote nevertheless.. TY! 🙂

    Great and wonderful sky photo.:)
I always walk around the street for shift my attitude.

    • 23/08/2011 10:45 pm

I used to do that when I lived in the city… Go outside, look at buildings, clear my head… Great way to refocus… thanks for the reminder and comment. TY! 🙂

  19. 23/08/2011 1:13 pm

Wonderful post that can be applied to any commitment. 🙂

    • 23/08/2011 10:46 pm

TY Robin and at the heart of my post too… Love your bog visuals… such stunning settings! 🙂

  20. 23/08/2011 3:16 pm

Sometimes all it takes to shift our attitude is to let go of what has become obsolete. Simple, but not easy… 😉
Very good compilation of tips – thank you! My momentary favourite is “Reach deep inside your being for the invincible you… he/she is waiting to support you.” It’s absolutely true.

    • 23/08/2011 10:47 pm

Simple, but not easy for sure… TY Maria!
Yes, I liked that one too. 🙂

  21. 24/08/2011 7:04 am

“If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude.” – and have the wisdom to know the difference.

    • 24/08/2011 7:47 am

Amen to that… Imagine the reduction in stress, if only we could all follow those instructions. 🙂

  22. 28/08/2011 6:15 pm

I had some catching up to do on your blog. I should not have saved this one for last though because I could have used the advice given. Great post!
