Over the years, it has become clear that my heart has never misled me or guided me to do things that didn’t help me grow… I think when some read the WP prompt, they think of love and passion and such matters of the heart; these are valid but not the entire picture of the promptings of the heart. When the muse comes calling, it engages both our mind and our heart as we can’t do the work without both. When we produce inspiring work, or help a sick neighbor to their door, or feed the cat and walk our dog, we follow the promptings of our heart and use our head to do the rest … The heart is where the head finds solace.

When I left my birthplace to move to a foreign land, it was the calling of my heart that guided me and took me safely to that new shore. My head encouraged me to stay when challenges stood in my way, and while I swayed this way and that, and hummed and hawed and whined a lot, I never turned my back to the fact that my heart held steady and calmed me. It took some time to adjust to this new land, but my heart assured me I will not go astray. Then my head and heart completed the affirmation by helping me stay focused on my chosen path … The heart is where the head finds solace.

While we may sometimes find that love took a wrong turn, and passions waned when lovers strayed, we still must listen to the ticking of our heart for it never leads us astray. The heart can give us nerves of steel, for it is in the heart where courage dwells. We cannot be like steel flowers; all mind and words with little rasa… we must include the heart … The heart is where the head finds solace. More Below. 🙂

The deliciousness of milk and honey is the reflection of the pure heart:
from that heart the sweetness of every sweet thing is derived.
The heart is the substance, and the world the accident:

The heart takes us to places the head can only think of… when our life journey takes us to new places, on vacation or for retreats, our heart remembers, records and packs our memories away; to call on them another day. I like Rumi’s take on the pure heart; I believe it is what sustains our world… that and the guardian angels of the heart. They help the head follow the promptings of the heart; to make decisions that stop our world from falling apart … The heart is where the head finds solace.

I don’t know if you’ve had this experience; that sense of a knowing presence speaking to you directly through your heart… A great yoga master once said that God speaks to our hearts and so do our guardian angels… but we must be quiet and open to listen; for all our answers reside there. When you lose a special item and you ask for divine help, where does the answer come from? How do you hear it? Is it a sensing, a knowing, a quiet voice, a quick image? Where do they emanate from… I dare say they come directly from the heart … for the heart is where the head finds solace.

Thank you, Eliz! Beautiful photos and beautiful words! Yes, there is always someone watching….the one who sits in the center and knows…if only we can be still…we can hear what he/she has to say. I’ve been reading a book written many years ago…One Minute for Myself…by Dr. Spencer Johnson…if we can be quiet for one minute and consider what we are about, we can make better choices.
I am guided by both my heart and my head – they seem to work together and I think that’s the way it should be. My heart might sway me one way, but my head always kicks in to balance my decision.

Everything you said about the heart is true. A heart is capable to love unconditionally, to accept without judgement, to forgive, to express kindness and mercy, to guide our thoughts that we may make decisions that will bring goodness to others. Thank you for creating a post that touches the heart.

I’m having this battle regarding work at the moment.
Do I stay where I have established a reputation and strong working relationships, or do I move to a different area where my skills will be put to better use?

You are so right! I think that often we view the heart as irrational and head as rational. But the heart can guide us and give us courage to do things that the head might not have the faith to tackle… like your move to a foreign land!

When I find myself saying “I can’t believe I said that”… or … “I can’t believe I did that” I am feel referring to “two different I’s” within me… seperate parts of my consciousness. I like perceive the two as the thinking “I” and the feeling “I”…. or my mind and my heart…. or my thoughts and my spirit. One does, the other watches much as my mind is always busy doing… and my heart is content just “being”
It means a lot when I can read something like this post and feel touched by it… thank you.
