Weekly Photo Challenge: Mountains…

10/08/2011

“I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made straight and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together.” Martin Luther King, Jr.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Mountains… Bald Mountain,  Ketchum & Sun Valley, Idaho

Whenever I am around mountains, I am reminded of the magnificence of God and nature. I can stand and stare at a mountain for hours, watching the clouds and sun shift directions creating fascinating backdrop designs against the mountain range. When I travel, I look around for nearby mountains and when possible, I would try to visit and spend some time nearby.

Typically, many have bodies of water at the base or nearby and I find the air around mountains fresh; albeit sometimes thin. The pictures I added were taken at various points over the last couple of years. I have more but they are packed away, saved on discs and usb drives in cartons and such. I took the first picture above on my visit to Munich in the Bavaria region; specifically shot on a visit to Neuschwanstein Castle. The second picture was taken on a training trip to Idaho.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Mountains… Mount Fuji, Japan

Weekly Photo Challenge: Mountains… Mount Fuji, Japan

I have fond memories of our family trip to Japan and Mount Fuji was a hot stop on our travels. Sadly, we stopped at the 12th Station because of bad weather so our pictures were mostly fuzzy. Nevertheless, the journey and visit to other sites were memorable. Mount Rainier was so serene when I caught my first glimpse of it and I believe that is Puget Sound below… So quiet and nary a wave. It is one of my favorites… I love Washington state so I have another picture, Olympic Mountains, taken in the area too.

***While on the subject of mountains, my heart goes out to all in London and the rest of the UK, over the recent sad and unpleasant events. My prayers go out to Mr. Duggan’s family and to all who are hurting over the way things have unfolded… Violence is not an answer, so I pray that solutions to the rage and rioting will be found. My prayer/wish is for people to live peacefully and equitably in the UK… Blessings to all. 🙁

There are more shots below. Enjoy!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Mountains… Rocky Mountains as seen from Denver, Co

Weekly Photo Challenge: Mountains… Rocky Mountains as seen from Colorado

The shot of the Rocky Mountains was taken from a hotel room, hence the distance… I loved the colors in the sky and the shadows the mountain range created and so I added it. The Olympic Mountain shot was taken on a trip to Seattle and on the same day I took the photo of Mount Rainier. I love that area and would visit again. Okay, have a chuckle when you see that blue invisible lady. I chose to delete myself from the shot as I felt it would detract from the Teton Range mountain view… Whatever! The Teton Mountains are truly magnificent and have the brightest sky, cleanest air, and flattest space for distances. I was awestruck there. I also took some shots of buffalo and other wildlife… yes, packed away. Packing is taking up blog visit time lately, but I am continuing to catch up. Please be patient with me. 🙂
