Reflections: A Day Of Miracles In Three Parts…

Reflections: A Day Of Miracles In Three Parts... happiness awaits you

Preparation: Have you ever had a day when everything seems to fall into place? Did you call it a miraculous day or merely coincidental? What do you do when the reverse happens? One day, Mary woke up feeling that something special was going to happen that day. She felt an underlying excitement about her day… Though Mary was always the happy type, this day felt unique. She bounced out of bed, performed her usual daily oblations, visualized a perfect day, wore her best suit and drove to work… Everything at work ran smoothly that day. She felt like a happy baby.

“Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other’s eyes for an instant?” Henry David Thoreau

Learning: As Operations Supervisor at a large trucking/shipping company, Mary was used to handling storms and fires that came with her territory… Not today.  She had the perfect productive day. In passing, one of the truckers shared a prayer of protection he read daily on his drives. He suggested she read it daily.  It had never occurred to her to do so… She learned she could read it easily and quickly. Mary thanked him and placed it in her purse. After work, she went for a spa treatment, had dinner with her best friend at her favorite restaurant, made plans to see a concert and then got in her car and headed home.  On the way home, there was a heavy thunderstorm followed by a downpour.  As Mary turned a sharp corner on the highway, a trailer swerved into the incoming traffic lane and slammed into Mary’s car sending it careening down a ravine.

“We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.” Mother Teresa

Prayer for Protection
Grant, O Lord, Thy protection
And in protection, strength
And in strength, understanding
And in understanding, knowledge
And in knowledge, the knowledge of justice
And in the knowledge of justice, the love of it
And in the love of it, the love of all existences
And in that love, the love of spirit and all creation.

Serving: When the ambulance and fire truck arrived, they found Mary sitting a few feet from the car unscathed. It was a miraculous day. When an ambulance attendant asked her what happened and how come she was sitting on a rock a few feet from a car that was not only completely destroyed but also on fire, she offered her story above about her perfect day and the prayer she received and read before she got on the highway. The attendant wanted to know more so she shared the prayer above with him. Soon the firemen were curious too. From that day on, Mary made a commitment to volunteer her services to the sick and the poor and, with each group, she shared her story and the prayer of protection.

The WP Daily Post prompt asked: If you could spend a day doing anything, what would you do?  I would say that positivity, prayer and serving others would be a good way to start.  What about you? What are your thoughts? What would you do with a miraculous day? If you could do something differently, what would that be? Do share! Thank you. 😉

This post was inspired by a prompt from WP Daily Post: If you could spend a day doing anything, what would you do?

Positive Motivation Tip: Each day brings its own miracles; listen and learn.

Wonderful story. A perfect day would be when I would actually ACT UPON the all of the thoughts of acts of kindness and thanks I could/should do. My intentions are always good. But my priorities, and yes, my selfishness, too often get in the way of my good intentions.

Yes, to echo the comment of Freedom, by the way, above…we almost always know what we SHOULD do, but often other things get in the way. To speak out and witness takes a certain kind of courage and commitment that not everyone has.
Thanks, Eliz, for a great post that perhaps will help us to step out and do that!

Miracles abound when least expected 🙂 Thanks for sharing Eliz.
My answer to the prompt would be: To be honest with others.

“What would you do with a miraculous day?” – Trust it, and enjoy it.

    What a beautiful story, Elizabeth.
My cousin had a really bad accident a few years ago – a tractor trailer rear ended him. His car was destroyed. When the ambulance and fire trucks came and saw that he didn’t have a scratch, they told him he had an angel on his shoulder, otherwise he wouldn’t have survived the wreck.

Isn’t every day a miraculous day? Well, except for the rare bad day that is… Mostly I feel great and I love my life 🙂

I would have to agree with Lian–everyday is a miraculous day when I can wake up alive and healthy!

If i could spend a day doing anything, what would i do? Maybe I would do the same thing as what you would do. But most days, I just want to be alone and do my own thing.

Wonderful story! I was so scared that Mary’s perfect day was going to have a tragic ending- but one where she finds the strength to go on. So glad about the ending it had!!

I have experienced a miraculous day-a few times ! being spared from disaster by only a thread, its a feeling one can never put into words. I have also experienced miraculous recovery- an eye injury that was healed the day before testing was to take place. Thanks, for making me remember these miraculous moments. great post ! love the photo of the baby- they are a miraculous gift – !!!

Looks like a momentous day to me. In reality, the biggest shift was Mary’s perception of things. One thought can make your day break through the clouds and into the sunshine. Miriam
