When was the last time you felt like you were glowing with the deepest joy and walking on air? Better yet, where were you when you heard Tonight Is The Night, Love Hangover or The Glow of Love? How about …. name your in-the-mood-for-love song? Flowers blooming, bodies gyrating, wine sipping, music blasting, and there you are drowsy with love with a huge grin on your face… go back there. How, you may ask? Start with the memorable music that took you there, kick off your high heels, hike up your skirt, and slowly move those hips, arms, shoulders, and feet, till you feel that tingly sensation flowing right through your veins, and then smile… What was his name? her name? What was that first rapturous kiss like? (not your first lousy kiss, honey) … and the rest? You are there already!

Change – The Glow Of Love
You see, blasting our amps with the right music has the power to bring back that glowing love magic, and take us back to memorable moments in our lives when even our friends wondered what drug we had imbibed; we hadn’t. Nonesuch. Self love, like Love in a romantic liaison, is intoxicating and we can tap into that space/place with the flick of a switch, the right music, song, story, and heck, the presence of the right kind of joyful energy. Some of us are stuck on what others would think and so we starve ourselves of the sheer joy of being human with real needs and feelings.
Quite frankly my dear, no one really gives damn so get on up and do your thing; start with the music, the dance, the smile, and watch yourself transform into whomever you desire to be… 200 times over. Instead of sitting around waiting for Ms./Mr. Goodbar to drop in with her/his shit, go create your own joy and then watch happens next. Will the glow dissipate? No, unless you stop affirming yourself, your goals, and your desires. Now get to it! What do you think? More below… 😉

Donna Summer – Love To Love You Baby
The first time I heard this song, at a party in London, I was pretty young and thought Donna Summer had lost her mind to play something so intimate in such a public way… but as we listened to it, it sparked a hilarious conversation and got everybody laughing; albeit in embarrassment for some of us. Soon, we had discarded our pretensions and silly rigidities and had some of the best conversations about the male/female dynamic that I had ever had… We spent the rest of the evening enjoying the party and dancing the night away … our humanity shone through and we sure had that easy feeling of the glow of love. I finally gave in to the cold that has been plaguing me and stayed home. I was sleeping when the phone rang – a marketing call – and as I sat here angry I had been woken from my slumbers on a day when I am trying to take care of myself, your tweet flicked up on my screen.

While I waited for my niece – we were going to see Midnight in Paris – I watched a young couple doing the mating dance. She stood holding on to a tree, he facing her. At first, I couldn’t tell whether they were already an item or just feeling each other out. Then he touched her navel area. There was such a tentativeness to it, I could tell it was the first time he’d done so. She leaned in and pecked him on the lips. Ahh, young love, I thought.
Love is so all consuming, I tell myself I’m happy where I am right now, in love with myself and my ideas. Less complication, I’m kind of in control. I struggle to remember. Actually, sometimes I don’t want to. I haven’t found the balance between love for someone else and love for what I do.
Anyway, I’m trying to remember my first crush. Gosh, who was it again?
Love songs speak to me but they take on a fuller meaning when someone is attached to it. And while I’m telling myself I don’t know where those memories are, this came back to me. What I aways enjoy about human emotions are that they are played out in harmonies. Most of the time we feel love in company with a host of other emotions. It is the harmonies which make those monents of love so precious

I remember “Love Hangover”! The Glow of Love…hmmm…well, I recently wrote a personal essay about my first crush. I’ll probably see him in a couple weeks at a reunion and he may very well get a copy of it! But we were kids. As in 5th grade kids. 😀 The first person I loved is still one of my best friends to this day. Our paths cross and diverge and cross again. We’ve known each other for about 30 years now. He might challenge me on this point but I think “our song” was “An Innocent Man” by Billy Joel.
In my lifetime, I’ve had 6 loves, and there’s a song for every one of them.

This has nothing to do with love in the way you’re talking here but I wanted to share this with you… I first saw Keb Mo when he opened for Bonnie Raitt. About a year later I discovered my youngest son (who was about 36 at the time) was a huge Keb Mo fan. He loves blues. Anyway… he sent me some of his music and this particular song just makes me want to get up and dance every time I hear it.
The reason I said this has nothing to do with love in the way you’re talking here is because my son and I danced to this at his wedding 😀
