Weekly Photo Challenge: Colorful…

For this wonderful exercise in seeking colorful things, I took a trip to the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx, and had a blast capturing the wide range of exotic, colorful blooms there.  At different points during my visit, I had to pause and take in the magnificence of nature’s hand in painting flowers, fish and landscapes in rich, textured colors. It was exhilarating, and I would encourage everyone to spend some time at their local botanical garden; a wonderful way to enjoy nature’s gifts to us – sheer, unadulterated beauty.

“With the brush we merely tint, while the imagination alone produces color.” Theodore Gericault

I hope you enjoy your walk through the beautiful gardens with me. There was such an explosion of color and a very brightly shining sun that it was intoxicating at times. Sometimes, it is best to showcase the photos and let them do the talking… There are more below

“I am a great lover of art, in many forms: paintings, objects, textiles. I don’t have the talent for painting, but I have a very good sense of color, a love of visual beauty.” Jacqueline Bisset

It all started in The Conservatory, and then I wandered outside and captured flowers in the perennial gardens… Lots of fun and people taking pictures or posing for them; like the lovely lady woman did for me above.
What are your thoughts? What Colorful things did you find? Did you have an easy or hard time with this exercise? Do share? Thank you! 🙂

    Wonderful photos!
When I was a child, my father once asked me if I’d ever seen one single plant where all its colours – of the leaves, the flowers, the stem, the bark – were not in harmony. Since then I’m looking, but I’ve yet to find one.

What a profound observation… I can’t think of any and even if something were to seem incongruent, we wouldn’t know it… nature is fascinating.;-)
