Reflections: Ten Things A Magic Wand Will Do…

Reflections: Ten Things A Magic Wand Will Do... May your beneficial wishes come true

The last two days have been brutally hot in NY.  I must have dropped a few pounds from all the sweating. As I write this post, I have a headache and it’s not from laughing at another silly joke sent to me by my sister or girlfriends. Yes, we cranked up the A/C and have cross ventilating fans blowing hot air up our a%&% noses.  My Heat & A/C guy assures me that the A/C is not on the blink…
“It’s been so hot that homes are not cooling off and the A/C has reached its capacity,” he said.
“What about the people in Vegas, how do they cope?” I retorted.
“Oh, they have bigger A/C’s and State allowable wattage. Consider moving to Vegas or Canada” he added
“Hmm mm. Should I move to Canada, Vegas or Arizona then? I won’t complain, it could be worse, right?”

I know they have bigger A/C’s, lights and gambling tables in Vegas but I don’t want to move there… and while I love my Canadian friends and family, I don’t want to move there either.  I love NY, and the heatwave is just a temporary nuisance I hope. I mean, I don’t want to start on my global warming, environmental lament… as things could be worse. I’ve written on that elsewhere on this blog, but I do wonder…

“Love and magic have a great deal in common. They enrich the soul, delight the heart. And they both take practice.” Anon

Reflections: Ten Things A Magic Wand Will Do... Circe with her Magic Wand

So, please forgive me as this prompt from Plinky leaped at me like a Vegas neon sign: You just acquired a magic wand. What will you use it for?  I need a Magic Wand to put the heat to bed. I’m taking Goethe’s advice above and putting my imaginary wand into action. Yes, yes, it will cure all of mankind’s ills and all the big things we wish for, as well as simple every day irritants. UPDATE: It will also end all acts of violence; my condolences go out to all the families of those who lost loved ones in Oslo and Utoeya in Norway. 🙁
Here goes: my list of ten things Circe’s or my magic wand will do for NOW.

♥ Send this nasty heatwave packing
♥ Convert my buckets of sweat into moola for an extended vacation
♥ Help me shed those extra pounds
♥ Shower Happiness, Love and Abundance on everyone now
♥ Help me guess what the top 10 most-answered Plinky prompts are?#10 is What’s your favorite live music venue?

Please keep in mind that the magic wand is not limited to ten gifts… It’s like the energizer bunny and this is a light hearted post. I know I could wave that wand and change the world, I did already… look around you and see the joy. Then spread some too.  What would you do? More below… 🙂

“Magic is believing in yourself, if you can do that, you can make anything happen.”  Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Reflections: Ten Things A Magic Wand Will Do... Relax, don't take yourself so seriously

♥Provide healing for all who are sick
♥End pain and suffering around the world – Meet every person’s needs
♥Give everyone a compassionate heart towards other humans and animals
♥Change the world for good, starting now, not just on December 21, 2012 as some seers predict
♥Get all of our blog posts up there in the stratosphere and on WP’s hot topics

I usually write longer posts but I honestly think it is refreshing to write a short post. I actually followed Erika’s lead and wrote this in under 30 minutes. If you got here earlier, you would have found out that five of the items on my list were still in blog heaven .. on their way down.  Oh the joy of blogging; we can add and subtract at will. Now,  where is that wand?! 🙂
What about you? What are your thoughts? What would you add to my ten things? What would you do with a magic wand? Do share! Thank you. 😉

This post was inspired by a prompt from Plinky: You just acquired a magic wand. What will you use it for?

Positive Motivation Tip: Believe your magic wand is here and then go make things happen.

if i had a magic wand ( assuming that i don’t) i would think for while first 🙂

    • 23/07/2011 12:18 am

      Hi Alan,
Long time no hear! How are you? Yeah, I’m still thinking about the uses for my wand and thankfully, it’s imaginary and unlimited… who needs the pressure right? 😉 Do stop by when you have a few to add to mine. 😉

  2. 23/07/2011 12:32 am

I work with the poor that live in an affluent county in Southern Cal. I would wave my magic wand and have each one of my patients receive thousands of dollars to buy food and housing and have some fun, too.

    • 23/07/2011 12:50 am

Done! 🙂 Interesting that the poor you mention, live in an affluent county… Such is life when 5% own/control most of the wealth in the world… Yes, they will partake of my wand wishes too. TY! 🙂

      • 29/05/2012 10:52 pm

you can use my magic wand too…don’t need it at the moment…will have to think a spell about it…until then, have at it… 😉

  3. 23/07/2011 12:51 am

Just imagine the people in the army in 120 plus degree weather without ac’s in those HOT outfits they wear 🙁

    • 23/07/2011 1:42 am

Yes, it must be awful being in a bunker in full gear right now… awful and that’s why we want them home. 🙁

  4. 23/07/2011 12:57 am

I loved this post Eliz! I too have one of those nagging headaches and have had it for 3 days now. This heat is CRAZY!!! I don’t think my a/c has stopped running all week. Now I am just praying that electricity doesn’t go out or we’ll all melt!

Now back to the magic wand… Can I tell you that I weekly say I wish I had a magic wand?!? Seriously, no joke, I say it at least once a week…. The need for one is varying depending on the day; some for silly things and others for more pertinent things. Here’s my magic wand list of 10 as of right now… ( gonna keep it mostly light-hearted due to the headache and heat!)

    1. GET RID OF THIS HEADACHE!
    2. Make Satan take his weather back!!! (seriously… enough is enough. he can have it!)
    3. clean my apartment
    4. match my socks (I HATE matching socks! lol)
    5. make my prince charming appear 🙂
    6. my blog featured on Freshly Pressed ( a girl can dream, right?!?)
    7. take me to a spa to get a mani, pedi, massage, haircut and highlights
    8. happiness in all our hearts
    9. one concert a week
    10. make me comfy in bed and fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow!

I’m gonna work on number 10 now! Crossing my fingers! Happy weekend to you my friend!

    • 23/07/2011 1:46 am

Hi Megan, Good to see you here… Hope all’s well! 🙂
Thanks for your feedback. Your list rocks and I’ll happily add yours to mine.
      Happy Weekend too!

      • 23/07/2011 9:20 pm

Hi Eliz! Sorry I’ve been such a stranger lately… Sorting through things these days!!! I have missed you 🙂 But all in all I am well… hope you are doing well also!

You are very welcome for the feedback! Glad you enjoyed my list too… thinking of doing a “list” post myself as I really loved this!

  5. 23/07/2011 2:39 am

As you’ve got a magic wand, would you mind waving some of that heat over Stockport? This is our third (at least) wet summer in a row.

    • 23/07/2011 2:45 am

Done! Sending some ridiculously hot temps your way… Now, don’t tell the good folk at home that you came calling! 😉

  6. 23/07/2011 2:46 am

Eliz, try to stay cool (and sane) during this crazy heat wave. I hear that it is truly miserable in NY. My magic wand would make the weather more bearable. Miriam

    • 23/07/2011 3:42 am

Thanks and your wand waving offer is accepted… We owe you one. TY! 😉

  7. 23/07/2011 3:04 am

I love how you weave this different strands of thought together!

If you’d asked me this at 9:45am, I would’ve said, “World peace, love, ample food and health for all . . . and a larger ballroom 20!” I seem to have survived just fine missing my morning Comic Con panels, so I think I’ll go with the former four and ditch the latter. I might use the wand to keep Li’l D (with whom I’m currently sharing a bed) from wandering all over the bed, thus confining me to smaller and smaller portions of it despite the fact I’m five times his size!

    • 23/07/2011 3:44 am

      Deal and done! 🙂
We were checking out the Twitter updates on Comic Con yesterday….
It’s going well and we look forward to the one in NY in October. Will you attend it? 🙂

  8. 23/07/2011 3:51 am

if it is too hot I usually sing “you can leave your hat on” –
or some winter or cool autumn song like “AUTUMN LEAVES” …

    • 23/07/2011 5:05 am

I wish I had a song to sing… Nothing comes to mind in the heat. 🙁

  9. 23/07/2011 4:31 am

Hmm, a magic wand huh? Well, I’d wish the temps lowered — I ended up going to the beach today, several degrees cooler. Normally work at home on Fridays. I figured if it got too much, I’d take my laptop to the library – thankfully, I didn’t have to.
Here’s what I’d do with my magic wand:
    – Help our leaders set aside partisan politics and come to an acceptable agreement on the budget, one that doesn’t make poor people continue to suffer.
    – Let me win the lottery so that all my nieces and nephews can attend college and leave debt free, and help me offer scholarships to needy students.
    – And since I’ve won the lottery, I’ll have the funds I need to see the world, all of it, without compromising my style and tastes.
See, I don’t want too much!

    • 23/07/2011 5:09 am

DONE! My magic wand has taken care of your wishes and all will be well… Spread the love… 🙂
PS. You know, it would be wonderful if good always prevailed in our world… Sadly, there is still work to do on our planet as we read of violent acts around the world.. What happened in Norway makes me very sad… Healing love to the families who lost loved ones. 🙁

  10. 23/07/2011 3:54 am

I had 14 years on my magic wand the wish to found a little jazz trio – now I’ve done! first public appearance on August 13th! not before 8-10 p.m. because it is hot …
greetings by frizz, near the cool rivers of Germany

    • 23/07/2011 5:06 am

Congratulations on your trio… I hope you upload a video when you’re done on 8/13/2011.

  11. 23/07/2011 6:59 am

I would have to think to. It depends how many wishes I got. I agree with you about the violence in Norway. Simply Horrific

    • 02/09/2011 5:06 am

Yes, that was truly tragic… Hope we can all find ways to support the world and not hurt it and the people in it. 🙂

  12. 23/07/2011 7:43 am

“Magic is believing in yourself, if you can do that, you can make anything happen.” I need to think like this everyday. Belief with action can move any obstacles in life. great post.

    • 02/09/2011 5:06 am

That is true and even if the outcome varies… we know we tried. 🙂

  13. 23/07/2011 8:59 am

If I had a magic wand, I would instill love in everyone’s hearts. If we have love and faith the size of a “mustard seed”- we can move mountains. I totally believe we hold the power within to remove any obstacles in our life-belief with actions sets forth a pattern for gaining insights into each of our thoughts.

    • 02/09/2011 5:07 am

I will support your mission 100%, as we all could use what you describe so beautifully… 🙂

  14. 23/07/2011 11:42 am

    Ahhh to fantasize…
I would wave my wand to restore sanity in Washington D.C. (that might take lots of waving)
    I would end world hunger
I would open my mailbox to find at least 10 offers from literary agents and publishers to publish and sell my books
I would proclaim a steady clime between 65-80 degrees all year long
The rest I’ll leave up to you my friend!
    Thanks for the fantasy.
    b

    • 02/09/2011 5:09 am

Your fantasy works for me too… We can have all of our dreams come true and enjoy walks on the beach and rest…. It is right at our finger tips. I am convinced… 🙂

  15. 23/07/2011 9:15 pm

    Oh, ho, ho . . . it’s magic . . . I know.
    Never believe it’s not so.

Here’s to magical moments, with or without the magic wand. 😀

    • 02/09/2011 5:10 am

Yes, we could all use some magic sometimes… I concur, the journey is what we claimed… 🙂

  16. 24/07/2011 1:29 am

If I had a magic wand, I’d make it so I could be a full-time Mum.

    • 02/09/2011 5:11 am

That is so sweet… It ,might still be feasible for you in the coming months… Don’t despair. TY! 🙂

  17. 24/07/2011 10:41 pm

I enjoyed your post as always. It is winter down-under and currently raining! The quote at the beginning of today’s blog is one of my old time favourites.
    cheers
    Lorraine

    • 02/09/2011 5:13 am

Glad you enjoyed the post Lorraine… Now for my chuckle; I thought you were in the USA! 🙂

  18. 25/07/2011 4:49 am

I think you are too modets with your wishes… where are you shiny new cars and topless models (what?) ?
World peace does sound way better, though.

    • 02/09/2011 5:14 am

TY for the feedback… I don’t pay attention to certain lingerie ads and whole others are fine, I love world peace! 🙂

  19. 25/07/2011 10:12 am

I do enjoy your top ten lists. I would want people to be kinder to Earth and all living creatures within.

    • 02/09/2011 5:15 am

I age with you too… all around kindness is much missed on earth. 🙂

  20. 25/07/2011 9:17 pm

Ah, the Harry Potter craze has hit here too, again. My three boys are constantly casting spells at the moment, and are hassling me for magic wands.

I wouldn’t mind some of those magic broomsticks (was it from Fantasia?), that do all of the housework, so I could get some time for inner peace and meditation.

    • 02/09/2011 5:18 am

Ha ha ha! You are funny Hakea. I’ll take the seat and hats and the broomstick before your housework show… 🙂
