Weekly Photo Challenge: Refreshing…

29/06/2011

“He who completely entrenches himself against boredom also entrenches himself against himself: he will never get to drink the strongest refreshing draught from his own innermost fountain.” Friedrich Nietzsche

Weekly Photo Challenge: Refreshing… Easy Peachy Pink Lemonade Cocktail

Weekly Photo Challenge: Refreshing… A water fountain at the Culinary Institute of America

Refreshing: Serving to refresh; especially : agreeably stimulating because of freshness or newness (www.Merriam-Webster.com)
I loved working on this week’s Photo Challenge: Refreshing because it gave me a chance to look at things with new eyes, and find examples that not only fit the prompt, but that also made me feel light and fresh. Like many others, I was drawn to water and things that included water … However, I also enjoyed those moments when my eyes turned to fresh flowers and even a hug which, I think, added an extra something to the exercise for me. Sit back, relax, and I hope you are refreshed by my selection…  Take a splash in the fountain at the CIA overlooking the Palisades or enjoy the easy pink lemonade cocktail included here.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Refreshing… cool and crisp in pink... Asian lilies

Weekly Photo Challenge: Refreshing… Part of a meandering stream... flowing endlessly

When I took my nature walk yesterday, I captured a few things that I felt fit this theme. The pink lilies were so breathtaking that I had to include them. They bloomed serenely next to an explosion of colorful flowers in the usual reds and yellows and I was drawn to them… singularly cool and crisp in pink.  The meandering stream wasn’t easy to shoot as the lighting was either too harsh or too dim. I followed it a while and had several takes and I hope you like the outcome… the soothing magic of flowing waters. What did you capture? More below. 😉

“I find that nonsense, at times, is singularly refreshing” Charles M. de Talleyrand

Weekly Photo Challenge: Refreshing… A mini waterfall by a bridge at a college in Massachusetts

Weekly Photo Challenge: Refreshing… A single red rose peeking through a white picket fence...

I think it is such a treat when a prompt makes one joyful and light. I found this a refreshing experience and a wonderful reprieve from last week’s WORN. Now, I know it shouldn’t matter what the prompt is as long as we make our best effort to accomplish the task… That waterfall sprayed cooling water on us as we crossed the bridge; it felt so relaxing.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Refreshing… More flora in a beautiful shade of blue...

Weekly Photo Challenge: Refreshing… Sade - A warm hug was shared with each member after the show... very refreshing

Sometimes a particular prompt, like this one, is simply more fun to do and that is where we need to pause and look within. The bluest flowers captured above and a grateful hug shared with band members after a show… all made this  enjoyable. Yet, we must then ask ourselves; What stands in our way and creates resistance with other prompts? Why Yes to A and No to B? It is worth the effort to contemplate the reasons and then embrace them. What are your thoughts? What refreshing items did you find? Did you feel refreshed afterwards? Do share? Thank you! 🙂
