Inspiration: A Nature Walk…

After all the excitement of the last couple of days, I took a long walk on the Old Croton Aqueduct and around my village. I needed to regroup; to reflect on life and to gain some perspective. It’s important to take time to step outside and inhale the fresh air, touch the earth, and reconnect with our spirit and nature. When we take the time to truly look around our surroundings, in nature, we see the beauty in things that have always been there. We also discover new things that make us smile and add calm and color to our day. As I walked around today, I captured quite a bit of the landscape; the pathway, trees, art, flowers, distant shots of the Hudson River and even a meandering stream…

#Trust30 is an online initiative and 30-day writing challenge. The #Trust30 Prompt: When did you feel most alive recently? Where were you? What did you smell? What sights and sounds did you experience? Capture that moment on paper and recall that feeling. Then, when it’s time to create something, read your own words to reclaim a sense of being to motivate you to complete a task at hand.

Inspiration: A Nature Walk... A welcoming tree... Isnt that a face we see?

Inspiration: A Nature Walk... More flora along the way... Name this?

I am most alive when I listen to great music, dance, meditate, enjoy good food, great art, and when I walk in nature. I love gardening and never tire of looking at colorful flowers and even big old trees. I simply find them fascinating and they add a sense of awe to my life. I see the miracle and magic of a seed becoming a flower, a shrub or a tree.

Nature reminds me of the grace of time in shaping all things from the root inception to completion. The sights and sounds in nature never overwhelm. If anything, they draw us close, hug us tightly, and remind us that all will be well; no matter what else is going on…. all will be well. God is definitely in the details in nature, and we add our power when we nurture our gardens, and see our plantings bear fruit. Stay a while, I’ll share some of my photos with you… More below. 😉

“Nothing is at last sacred but the integrity of your own mind. If we follow the truth, it will bring us out safe at last.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

I find that whenever I take these nature walks, I become centered and focused and my mind becomes still. I also find that I am relaxed and able to sleep better and wake up feeling refreshed… There is much to celebrate in nature, and I believe it can help us sort through our own struggles; giving us solutions and a sense of peace. What about you? What are your thoughts? Do you see the magic and excitement of nature around you? Do you find time enjoy it? Do share! Thank you. 😉

This post was inspired by a prompt from RalphWaldoEmerson.me: When did you feel most alive recently? Where were you? What did you smell? What sights and sounds did you experience? Capture that moment on paper and recall that feeling.

Positive Motivation Tip: Spend some time in nature and let it heal and uplift you; there is much to learn…

I am inspired by nature, too. When feeling stressed, Richard and I (or just I) will head for a trail. Just a walk amond the trees clears the mind and renews one’s spirit. Thank you for another inspiring post! 🙂

Thinking about nature, looking at your photographs and listening to the mocking bird outside my window was a wonderful start to my day today. If only I had the time this morning to go play in the woods…..

Absolutely stunning photos, Elizabeth! I’d love to live in the coutnry again, but for the time being I must stay a city girl. Luckily we have lots of parks, so we can escape to the peace and tranquility of nature from time to time!

Thanks for adding colour to today. The magnificent tree, looking like several hands bonding together with the earth, touched my heart. It reminds me to appreciate life in its entirety. As always, thanks for this light hearted stroll through nature, with a smile on my face.

I LOVE trees… I’m working on an art exhibit of trees and these are simply incredible! The 1st one looks like three strong arms and hands reaching into the ground. amazing. Do you know what kind of trees they are?

    Thanks for inspiration this day!
p.s. I believe the blue flower is an aster.

I am most alive when I listen to great music, dance, swim,
enjoy good food or photographies – and when I play guitar…

I enjoyed this beautiful post ! I am in total agreement with: “Nature reminds me of the grace of time in shaping all things from the root inception to completion.”- I am looking forward to my retirement in a couple of months from one of my jobs-then I will have the time to do so many things, taking nature walks is on top of my list. 🙂

One of my favorite posts! Because you really brought to life those moments just as the prompt discussed. You are an amazingly talented artist, Elizabeth, not just to capture beauty (I love the day lilies) but the vibrancy and contrast of colors, shapes (the trees!) and the peek-a-boo of river. I can feel the peacefulness. I can smell the flowers and freshness of the day! Perfection.

There is nothing like a walk in nature (or forest bathing) to clear ones head and to connect with nature and its spirits. What a beautiful walk, Eliz.
