Weekly Photo Challenge: Chasing Numbers…

08/06/2011

Weekly Photo Challenge: Chasing Numbers... Judy's $1 million dollar bill... yeah, right!

Everything we do, from the time we are born till the time we exit this world, involves numbers. We have birth dates, social security numbers, drivers license numbers, home addresses, phone numbers, bank account numbers, sweet sixteen parties, AARP, money we use to pay for it all, and tons of things around us that involve numbers. There are even numbers you dial to find out more about numbers that called you, unpublished numbers, and restricted numbers on the do-not-call list.  You get my drift… and the endless ways we constantly chase numbers; ours and others.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Chasing Numbers... judy's $1 million dollar bill.. and story follows

If you believe in numerology, you know numbers play an important role in our lives, our names, our birth and so on. Heck, most of us even have lucky numbers that seem to bring us good things and joy. Do you have a lucky number? When I sold real estate, a popular line was that selling “is a number of homes sold game,” the more you do it, the better you get at it. This axiom is probably true for many sales related businesses and is related to another popular line, “the customer is always right.”

For this exercise, I have a range of things to share that include numbers and if possible, I will add a mini back story…  For starters, Judy’s Money Story; The $1 million dollar bill was a joke gift at an event I attended in Los Angeles.  Judy, an entertainer/psychic, gave one to everyone and when you flipped the bill over, her contact information was written on the back. I liked it and kept mine… So, as above, that note is definitely not legal tender! 🙂  You can always play your lucky numbers on the lottery. What are your numbers?

Weekly Photo Challenge: Chasing Numbers... Las Vegas start of game numbers

If you had to eliminate one number, what would it be? Is it even possible to do anything that doesn’t directly or indirectly involve numbers? No. Even if we discard our clocks, time ticks on. The Track Number Story; A group of revelers in red, red hats included, gathered at the station for a reunion of sorts. They were chatting away; laughing and having fun. Their outfits and red hats caught my attention, but I was rushing for my train. I stopped to take a few pictures but they weren’t that great. I noticed the track number when I looked at this shot again and I love the way it captures the movement of people at Grand Central Station; everyone rushing somewhere even as the ladies stood there engaged and un-rushed.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Chasing Numbers... numbers on an old phone in a hotel in Paris

Weekly Photo Challenge: Chasing Numbers... parking meter numbers... ubiquitous, yes 😉

Whichever way you look at them, numbers are everywhere and we can’t avoid them. The Old Phone Story; The phone was in my room in a quaint hotel I stayed in, not so long ago, in Paris. I thought it was purely decorative, but when I picked it up and dialed “0,” it made a whirling noise and someone on the other end picked up and said “Bonjour!” 🙂 I requested a 6:00am wake up call. Even our routines are set by numbers, and many of us gauge the amount of work we do by the time and effort we put into it… all based on numbers spent working. We might as well embrace those numbers and let them sing to us… What are your thoughts? What numbers caught your attention? Do you have a lucky number? Do share? 🙂

Positive Motivation Tip: Whether you believe life is a numbers game or not, pick yours and play them well.

      Thank you Stacey,
I love the photo challenge because I have to take/find photos in my collection that fit the task… So far, so good. I love your pictures too. 🙂

I enjoyed your collection very much, especially the flamingos with little numbers on the thin legs …

    • 09/06/2011 5:15 pm

LOL! I like those Flamingos too. The Bronx Zoo numbered them to keep trac of them as they have quite a lit; easily a few hundred. I’m glad you noticed as it’s one of my favorites… TY! 🙂

I believe that we all have lucky numbers. I also believe in luck as you would say in numbers. My Birthday is 12-12-1966 and when you add them all up they = 1.
Here is that meaning for me…Persons having number 1 as their numerology birth number will have strong determination and will power so a born leader with courage to run the whole show alone. These people are very original, creative and have original thoughts. The person with number 1 as birth number will be very aggressive and willful. Egotistical and cynical behavior is also associated with number 1. Flam, copper, lilac and apricot are the lucky color for number 1.

When doing a numerology chart, your full birth date, birth time, and birth names are calculated to develop a full picture of your path and more. It is a fascinating subject and grounded in some fine mathematical calculations. I used to do charts for friends, just for fun, but I no longer do. I don’t have the time… I see the beauty in numbers and how it impacts everything we do.
Thanks for your feedback Jackie! 🙂

My number is either 6 or 9.
I’ve come to appreciate numbers but I didn’t always like them because they represented maths — the bane of my existence in school. They are such a huge part of our lives!

I’ll send you the photos by email,
    Marcia

    • 09/06/2011 5:36 pm

Yes, I appreciate them too! Interesting that 6 9 resonate with you… I’ve always believed that if we listen to our intuition, we’d get lots of clues and cues. 🙂

Great photos and your post for “Chasing Numbers”- I do have a number in mind-its always coming up within events in my life. We all have our numbers in life, The day we were born has sufficiency, just as our life here on earth is numbered. There is no avoiding the numbers in our life. 🙂

    • 09/06/2011 5:43 pm

Well said. No way around it and so we might as well enjoy our lives and pay attention to the the numbers that appeal to us and the positive energy they bring into our lives. I have my special numbers too and I have observed their positive impact over the years… 🙂

  6. 09/06/2011 10:12 am

Great shot.I didn’t see some of them.

    • 09/06/2011 5:45 pm

Oh Thank you Cocomino. One of them is of a truck I photographed on our way to Mitaka. 🙂

      • 12/06/2011 4:19 am

I went to Mitaka before.MItaka is popular to live in because there is a large park and is convenient to go to office. 🙂

Couldn’t tell ya why… but I like the numbers 5 and 7. This post reminded me of that movie, The Number 23. I just realized my birthday has all of these numbers in it!!

    • 09/06/2011 5:46 pm

There you go! They are connected to you somehow. I was wondering about that movie too. Did you see it? TY! 🙂

  8. 09/06/2011 2:42 pm

    Love numbers too!
Lucky 13 for me and 337 – which is Lee upside down 🙂

    • 09/06/2011 5:48 pm

      Hi there Lee,
Long time no see… 😉 Isn’t that interesting, right? 13 is a number some fear but it resonates well with you…. love it!

  9. 09/06/2011 2:45 pm

My lucky number has always been 5 since I was little. If I had to get rid of a number, it would be the evil “666” number with all its connotations and ominous meanings!
I love the fake Secretary of the treasurer name on that million dollar bill…Ivana B. Rich! LOL

    • 09/06/2011 5:53 pm

Oh Sharon!!! You made my day… I wanted to capture that part and make it larger so others could read it… I had a good laugh the first time I took a closer look at the bill and that fake name and the underlying meaning had me in stitches. Yes, the treasurer’s name on this joke note is Ivana B. Rich. LOL! 🙂
As for the triple 6s, there is so much on that and hard to tell.

  10. 09/06/2011 3:50 pm

I love the Clock Photo. The clock looks so important in it of itself. My favorite number is 4. I am not sure why…maybe because that’s the day of the month I was born.

    • 09/06/2011 5:57 pm

There you are BB with a 4 on the chest! LOL! I went to an event up at the Institute and the clock caught my eye. It is a magnificent clock and that Heinz name is from the Ketchup family. It is an important school with amazing grounds and great food served in the restaurants. All foods and service are done by student chefs in training. 🙂

I like the numbers 13 and 7 in various combinations and permutations.

I also like the number on that $1,000,000 bill! 😀

    • 11/06/2011 8:27 am

Interesting… any idea what the pull to those numbers is? Yeah, I like that dollar amount too and I’m told the cheque is in the mail LOL! 🙂 TY!

  12. 09/06/2011 11:28 pm

I wish I was better at math. Numbers are the key to unlocking the universe and all science, discoveries, measurements of movements in the universe, inventions, theories of everything come from numbers. I am always fascinated by your photos! Love the French phone and the movement at Grand Central Station with the Red Hat ladies! Well done – Elizabeth, as usual! 🙂

    • 11/06/2011 8:32 am

TY Karen. I agree that numbers are very important to a wide range of fields and research…Historically, calculations have been used for good and evil. I wanted to capture the ladies for the red challenge but there was so much movement and, being in a hurry, I couldn’t stop… Some good and use came of it after all. 🙂
