Traveling to other countries and cultures helps us appreciate the diversity and richness of our world; it ultimately helps us build connections even friendships with others. If, like me, you love to travel, there are probably a bunch of places you’d still love to visit in this lifetime. If there is one place in the world you could visit, what will you do to make sure you get there? This is the #Trust30 prompt for today, and it got me thinking beyond finding one special spot to stir my soul. There are so many wonderful places that remind me of the beauty and magic of our planet and I have chosen twenty spots that make my soul sing and that I would love everyone to see in this lifetime. Creating a list of twenty wasn’t easy because, worldwide, there are many breath-taking sites to visit; both natural and man-made. Perhaps that is why I love UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites because it includes places many of us have never heard of, and it takes into consideration places “of special cultural or physical significance.”

Even if you don’t enjoy traveling, there are probably amazing sites local to your area that you can visit and enjoy. As the saying goes, all travel begins and ends at home. So whether you venture out or stay local doesn’t matter as long you are happy with your choices and stay connected to the stirrings of the soul within. I hope you enjoyed the journey and I’d love to hear about the places you would add to this list. I plan to do a follow-up post to this sometime soon.

I love traveling…only thing that stops me is lack of funds 🙁
I want to go back to Wales someday…..visit England, Scotland and Ireland…..I really want to check out Germany…there’s so many places and things I would like to see!
I think that is a major reason some don’t travel but, you know, there are cheap and local places we can all visit. I would love to travel more too and this prompt gave me an opportunity to visualize and showcase some amazing places I’d love to see. Have you checked out Chris Guillebeau’s) website? He has some amazing travel stories, including how he found the funds to do it. 🙂

I’ve had the great fortune to have traveled considerably during my life visiting many countries, staying longer in others and seen so many wonderful sights but now that I’m back in Australia, I want to travel more here – there is so much to see.
Having said that, we are off to England and Scotland this September for a month! Definitely got the travel bug in me!

I think it is such a gift to be able to see the world; especially when I am reminded that many would love to do it, but have neither the time nor the funds. I still believe that even if one can’t travel abroad, it is rewarding to travel locally. I’ve traveled a lot too, but there are many places I still want to see on our planet; not excluding space travel. LOL! 😉

If I saw these three I’d be happy. I’ve heard the Southern Lights are good too.
There’s a movie around called “Home” which I’ve heard is fantastic. Sounds like it is similar to the 1992 movie “Baraka”.

Busy as a blue-bottomed bee in a bottle (yes, we have those here).
Currently doing parent-child interaction therapy (pcit) training. A US professor is teaching it – Cheryl McNeil. Fabulous – an entertaining, highly knowledgable, and humble person. It’s an honour to be doing the course.

Easter Island Ahu Tongariki + Stonehenge, UK: very attractive for me, too much focus on history, religion, symbols, sculptures? maybe better choose where they dance and make music: Rio de Janeiro? we have to decide – all goals together: I think: too expensive 🙂
Is that bad? My focus is on places that stir the soul and take our breath away; from my point of view. Dance clubs are fun not breath-taking… Expensive, can be yeah, and there are cheap ways to visit other places too, right? 😉

I do like your top 20 but have only been to 4 of them. My list is endless. having grown-up as a military dependent we traveled overseas often. I suppose that is why I have a gypsy’s soul. Dapper G and I take at least 3 big trips a year–there’s a way to travel cheaply–make all the arrangements yourself, travel light. Public transit in most countries is so affordable and one can see more, experience more on the off-beaten track. My list: Greek Isles, Great Barrier Reef, Easter Island/Tahiti, Egypt, China, Machu Picchu, Stonehenge—-to infinity!!
I love your list too… Yep, travel doesn’t always have to be expensive if we plan ahead and consider inexpensive options. Of course for those who want and can afford it, the Rolls Royce travel option exists too. 🙂
Really nice places. I want to go all the places before I will die.
I want to see all of hem and more too. I sometimes wish I could work in a travel related field. I think some people don’t travel because they are afraid of new things, but if we could all try to visit one other place in our lifetime, it would make the difference. 🙂
I would love to go to Japan and see the architecture and meet the people. It seems like such a cool modern place, with a lot of history. I’m doing a local road trip at the end of June-July. We’re doing an East Coast tour of Boston, Niagra Falls and a bunch of little places in between. Our itinerary is packed with really cool sites that are so close to home. I can’t wait! I really want to do a Southern Tour. I have not seen much of the South…maybe next year.
I’ve been to a few places in the south but not a major tour which would be nice to do and probably fun too. I love Niagara Falls and went there on my own in college for a tour. I love the parts of the east coast you will be visiting.

I’m waiting for a time travel machine that let’s us pick both the place . . . and the date . . . without worrying about passports, customs, airport security, etc.!
In the meantime, I’m enjoying the beauty in my own backyard and . . . armchair travels. We get videos from Netflix that let us “see the world” and “under the sea” for FREE. 😀
I’d love the Time Machine too so I could step in and be wherever my heart wishes. I have to admit that I might be in the minority, but the airport checks and security pat downs don’t bother me at all. Ditto the scanning machine which I went through first in Amsterdam. I love travel and know these measures are for our protection, so I stay cool with it and focus on the fun ahead. 🙂
I’m ready to pack and go… All I need is a free round trip ticket and I’ll be a happy traveler.
Travel does open our eyes and mind to the world; wish I too could do more of it.

Beautiful choices Elizabeth! Love the Serengeti Plains and the Great Barrier Reef! I am just as happy at home. Before my son was born, I loved going to New York and to Hawaii – they are my favorite places! We have much work to do at home before the little guy will ever get on a plane but someday we will do it all – especially the French and Italian Riviera – that’s my dream! 🙂

I was discussing my dream round the world trip with another blogger on Friday — it’s the only way I can think of to see all the places I want to. Still have to decide on where to go — I’ve picked from the UNESCO World Heritage Sites and the Wonders of the World lists. Plus a few sacred sites — Axum, Lalibela, Timbuktu, Djenne, Dogon, Touba, Santiago de Compostela. I’ll now add Kasubi Tombs from your list — would love to see that!
Usually, when I have time, I don’t have funds. When I have funds, I don’t have time — that’s probably similar for most people. But I’m determined to find a way to have the two synchronized so I can live this dream.

If Delta and some other airlines sold round the world tickets, it would be such a thrill to start and document the journey from every spot. I’m with you on this! 🙂

BTW: Married With Luggage is a blog written by a couple who are on a round the world trip at the moment. They spent 4 months in South America and then took a repositioning cruise to England. They’re in Scotland at the moment.

These are beautiful places to visit and I love that they are all rich in culture and history! I would love to plan a trip to Egypt to see the pyramids. Traveling can be so inspiring.

Wow. What a great list. Especially loved the Taj and Petra. The others too are just wow! At some point need to check out Kilimanjaro and Aurora too!
I am lucky to have been to a few of the places from this list. Seeing Machu Picchu for the first time was an amazing experience, definitely one of my top traveling wow moments.
