Featured Blogger: Lee Romano Sequeira - Madness Mom and Me... Lee's Blog

When Lee Romano Sequeira and I first discussed featuring her in the series, I assumed she had one blog, Madness Mom and Me – Desperately Seeking Sanity in a NJ Italian family; where she shares humorous stories about her New Jersey Italian family, and one dedicated website, Peg’s Presents; created in honor of her late Mom – Peg. But the truth is that Lee is involved in quite a few wonderful creative projects, a small business, and a start-up. She is a founding member, with our own Barb Hammond and Doreen Creede, of   The Blogstress Network; a site dedicated to supporting and showcasing bloggers. She is also owner of Good To be You Spa; an online boutique where she offers girl spa treats, beauty goodies, and fashionable wardrobe problem solvers. When Lee is not running around handling orders and giving them, she finds time for humor and good cheer.

Lee and I connected through Barb’s blog ZeroTo60andBeyond and I love her witty comments and keen perspective on life. She lives in Philadelphia with hubby/business partner and two adorable dogs. I’m delighted to introduce Lee as this week’s Featured “Get To Know” Blogger. Please join me in welcoming her, leave her a comment here, and visit her blog to say hello! 🙂

What things in life make you happy?
Good wine, laughs, back-rubs, my adorable terriers and my hubby (not in that order, of course). Also, my fond memories of my family, especially my mom and dad — we really had some fun times over the years.

What makes you sad?
Those wonderful family memories I cherish can make me smile one minute and make me break down in tears the next. I miss my parents so much it can sting hard some days.

Where did you grow up and why do you blog?
I grew up in Dover, NJ — A pretty eclectic old town – like a mini city. We were just about 45 minutes from New York City, yet close enough to the Jersey shore — it was the best of both worlds. I have many warm and hilarious memories of growing up in a slightly insane, yet totally lovable New Jersey Italian family. Now I live in Philadelphia with my husband/business partner and two sweet and spunky terriers. No matter what else is going on, I always enjoy a daily dose of crazy humor…
Why I blog?
My blog is a tribute to the very fond memories of my childhood, and the woman who was, and still is, a muse and a best friend. I share many of the stories I heard growing up, as well as some bits of my family’s craziness that I witnessed as a kid, a teen and yes, into my adult years.  My family always had a supply of quirky stories, so I share snippets of them in MADNESS MOM AND ME – Desperately Seeking Sanity in an NJ Italian family.

Humor is a rubber sword – it allows you to make a point without drawing blood” Mary Hirsch

What is most important to you/about you?
My family and friends are VIPS in my world. I love to make people laugh – even about things they don’t want to laugh about. Good manners are key — especially in restaurants (I cringe when I am a witness to others’ rudeness). I love nature, so kindness to animals (and our earth) is a high priority for me.

What motivates you to get out of bed?
Rich, dark roast coffee (and with two terriers, you have to get out of bed — they won’t let you sleep in too late!)

How would you like to be remembered?
For my “Madness Mom and Me” series of books, movies, plays, etc. Well, they haven’t happened yet, but one day… 😉
Also for Peg’s Presents – My new foundation in my mother’s honor — we bring gifts and smiles to children in need.  And for
Good To Be You –  My online boutique for girl spa treats, beauty goodies, and fashionable wardrobe problem solvers!

Lee keeps busy with her many projects but is always game for a laugh or two. You may connect with through her blogs; – Madness Mom and Me – Desperately Seeking Sanity in an NJ Italian family, Peg’s Presents  and her Online Boutique Spa business, Good To be You Spa.  Also, through her Facebook Fan-pages; – MadnessMomandMe, PegsPresents, and GoodToBeYou  and via her Twitter handles – @madnessmomandme , @pegspresents  and @goodtobeyou. Please welcome Lee Romano Sequeira! 😉 What are your thoughts? Do share? If you’d like to be featured, leave a note and let me know how to reach you. Thank You. 🙂

A lovely profile on a lovely person. She’s smart, funny and filled with positive energy. And she’s not kidding about good manners — despite all the commitments Lee juggles, she always always always responds to an email, Tweet or Facebook comment immediately. I have no idea how she manages it all.

Hi Lee, it is nice to meet you. Being from Philadelphia and of course “going cross the bridge into NJ” a lot, I can relate to that Tri-city love. Nothing like the Jersey shore and NYC. And being Italian, South Philly has got to be a true love for you 🙂 Go Philly steaks!

    Walter

    • 27/05/2011 10:47 pm

Go Philly Steaks! 🙂 I love Philly too and nothing beats that Philly Sound… must be the water. Oh, I did say that to you when we connected Walter! LOL! 🙂
