Weekly Photo Challenge: All Things Round…

Circles are very powerful energy retainers. We see and know the world as a circle; a tremendous energy circle. The sun and the moon radiate heat and a presupposed coolness; both round/circular. For those interested in numerology, or simply numbers, the “0” is indivisible and in some circles, the number of completion or annihilation. We know that the cycle/circle from birth to death takes us from childhood, to adulthood and back to childlike dependencies as we age. So, you can imagine that this Week’s Photo Challenge: Round, had me running in circles looking for and thinking of suitable photographs that would fit the task.

“Our task must be to free ourselves…by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty.” Albert Einstein

What I love about the photo challenge is that it allows us to share not just a picture, but the narrative behind the picture. To tell the story of our common connections; our ties with each other. I like that… What I’ve done this week is gather a careful selection of photographs that are visually representative of our theme – round, and try to frame them in the context of things that matter to us, on the largest, biggest, roundest of them all – planet earth. What I realized is that, eventually, all of us come full circle to meet, to connect with each other on some level; on some common goal or understanding… perhaps even differences. Regardless of our differences, the facts don’t change. We are sustained by the efforts of the collective = Unity. Don’t you love that London Eye Ferris Wheel? 😉

“In helping others, we shall help ourselves, for whatever good we give out completes the circle and comes back to us.” Flora Edwards

When we ask the question: What sustains us? What comes to your mind? The wheel of life is sustained and lubricated by the connections, interactions and support we have on earth. We enjoy our livelihood, our creature comforts, by virtue of the collaborations that we have with others/experts from all walks of life; farmers, engineers, builders, good leaders, creative artists, memory keepers and more… Each narrative contributes to the stories and memories that we create, enjoy and share and/or hold dear. Each is a part of the whole…

“Since you cannot do good to all, you are to pay special attention to those who, by the accidents of time, or place, or circumstances, are brought into closer connection with you.” Augustine of Hippo

If you noticed, I have added important elements that sustain us in rounds; government, art, peace keeping, memories, food, fun, and more add to our enjoyment of secular life; each plays a key role.  What would you add? As is often the case of late, if I don’t upload all the pictures I planned, do stop by later for more…. Stop in again anyway as I do update my photographs as I look through my collections and find other suitable shots… (Updated). Enjoy and, as always, your feedback is appreciated. 🙂
What round things did your camera capture? Did you enjoy selecting photos? What are your thoughts? Do share? 🙂

Positive Motivation Tip: When we understand our human connections, our human circle of life, we understand the interconnectedness of all things.

The London Eye Ferris Wheel is huge, a beautiful photo. One day I do hope to get to London, it’s so fascinating. Great pictures Eliz and a great topic to write about. Love the quote: “Until he extends his circle of compassion to include all living things, man will not himself find peace.” and this is so true.

    Loved this, especially:

So, you can imagine that this Week’s Photo Challenge: Round, had me running in circles looking for and thinking of suitable photographs that would fit the task.

You might want to take a peek at the circular graphic in this post:

My favorite symbolism of the circle . . . UNITY!
    Thanks, Eliz! Nicely done.

I like thinking of the world as a tremendous energy circle. It’s also interesting to learn that O is seen as the symbol of completion and annihilation, and it makes sense.

These are all impressive pictures of all things round, but my favorites are the ones of the Capitol building and the London Eye Ferris wheel.

“Since you cannot do good to all, you are to pay special attention to those who, by the accidents of time, or place, or circumstances, are brought into closer connection with you.” Augustine of Hippo – You are such an “accident of time, place or circumstance” to me! Love the photos, Elizabeth. You have the gift of the photographer’s eye and the skill to writing inspirational messages that provoke your readers to ponder within! Thank you for being here every day! <3
