Happiness: The Candle Never Decreases By Being Shared…

Happiness: The Candle never Decreases by being Shared... Connect!

One hundred and twenty one days ago, throngs of bloggers joined the Daily Post Challenge eager to commit to write daily/weekly/ or as often as possible. It was an exciting beginning, and most of us were determined to barrel our way through the challenge and see if we could find enough to say, share, and read.  Along the way, we made friends, lost a few blogger friends, had days that glowed, and days that made us glower. Through it all, the best lesson has been that our collective joy has not been diminished by our shared effort to support each other, to write when/what we deem best, or to take a rest when needed. What about your lesson?

Our candles, which were lit from the first WordPress Daily Post candle of encouragement, continue to glow and grow.  I say hurray/thank you to our blogging community and to all my blogging friends, new and not so new, for adding to my blogging happiness.  😉

“There is only one way to happiness and that is to cease worrying about things which are beyond the power of our will.”  Epictetus

Happiness: The Candle Never Decreases By Being Shared... myriad ornate candles

Back in the early days of the challenge, I wondered and worried about what to write. As time went by, I focused on simply doing the best I could and used either the assigned prompts, my own ideas or ideas from others/events around me. Like the many different candles above, we’ve all contributed our myriad voices and blog posts to the process, thus, helping each other grow and learn. The discipline of writing a daily post has been both deeply challenging and rewarding… and we are all richer for our efforts; be it daily, weekly or  periodically. Which have you done?

According to a recent post by Erica Johnson, co-coordinator with Scott Berkum, on our accomplishments to date, we have completed 33% of the challenge and we now have 243 days till January 1, 2012. I can’t believe we’ve come this far, yet I am thrilled that the journey, while difficult, has opened the door for us to meet tons of WP bloggers and make some long lasting friends… I want to thank all of you individually and maybe one day we will have a gathering. For now, we can say hello/kudos and continue to light each others candles with our blog support via, likes, comments, and more… And you?

“True happiness comes from the joy of deeds well done, the zest of creating things new.” Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Happiness: The Candle Never Decreases By Being Shared... happy graduates

When it was suggested that we pick our top three posts that we’ve published since starting the challenge, I chose to look at the month of April and found several that I enjoyed sharing and that I hoped others enjoyed reading.  As someone asked, how do you even pick three favorite posts? Should it be the ones we simply enjoyed writing, or ones with more comments, or likes? Personally, I think it should be whatever stirs your heart to choose and share; all are deeds well done. I picked six that I felt were representative of April’s goals and effort. I hope you like them. Three Gifts/HeartMatters/BlogAwards, Grateful for the Quietude,   Finding Acceptance,   To Live w/out Belief, Interviews Series,  and  Another Look at Spring. 🙂

On a final note, I loved the picture above of graduates tossing their hats in the air.  I feel we all deserve to do same;  having kissed April goodbye and on to a new month of accomplishments… I doff my hat to all the participants and say; Share more, Write more, Comment/Like more, Don’t hold back, Your candle never decreases by being shared.  Oh, and use that like button liberally, we all love seeing those little gravatars. Kudos!  🙂  What are your thoughts? How has your journey been? What else made you blog happy in April? Do share. . Thank You! 🙂

Yea, I finally made it back online, and what a wonderful quote to find at the beginning! So true… thank you for reminding me that candles are actually inexhaustible… I was quite nearly forgetting 😉
It’s so nice to read your words again – I hope I can find the time again before another two months pass! Cheers!

      Thank you and Amen! 😉
It does take effort to keep the support going and I must say that while it is not easy, it is not impossible to do… I do a few marathon catch up sessions from time to time. The way I see it, what’s the point of blogging if you don’t read and comment on other peoples blogs? It takes me about 2 hours reading and commenting on other blogs and naturally, I’m always evaluating the process… No one likes to feel like they are in a one-sided relationship. Plus, I need to catch up on comments here now which became difficult because I was responding elsewhere; something I do enjoy doing.
      Like they say, it’s a process… 🙂

Your blog is quite inspiring and I love the graduation picture. It reminds me of my own three graduations that didn’t turn out to be what it should have been.
I haven’t tried that “post a day”. I read like 15 to 20 blogs a day, “like” some and “comment” some. I’d like to be inspired, live my life to the fullest and follow my own heart. I am glad that I found your site. 🙂 Thanks

    • 04/05/2011 10:23 am

Oh that is sweet… Thanks again for your comment. I loved the energy and the uniforms, it is a terrific picture of navy grads from Annapolis… I believe. 🙂
