I was reading the Plinky prompts that come through my email and this one caught my eye: Name three things that are worth waiting in long lines for. As you can see, I thought of three things and then three more… and the rest culminated in a blog on twelve things worth the wait. Okay, I know some of these items could be seen, by some, as not quite worthy. But don’t forget, the whole point of the exercise is to get our creative juices flowing. How long should the wait be? Well, as long as it takes; so choose wisely.
I’ve stood on line for things in the past; movie tickets, concert seats, even entrance to a favorite store offering going out of business final sales. It can be fun if you have good company, or if everyone is in a jovial mood… But it can turn nasty if you have a few louts on line and the mood turns nasty real fast. Even though, this is a fairly short list on things I’d imagine waiting for if necessary, I agree with Lee Iaccoca‘s suggestion that we get on with living and staying alive while we wait. At the end of the day, if we pay attention, everything comes to us in its own time. With patience and an attitude of being present in all things, we might never notice… and it won’t matter. Found you through a pingback. Thanks for the link love. I’m a “not so patient” person so waiting has not always been my strong suit; even less so that older I get. I’m still waiting on enough money to buy that new Canon that I want though. 🙂 I’m okay with that.
I love this post. And I love Sade. She is playing here on Aug. 31 but I can’t go b/c I have to move 🙁 And from your list it would be a tie between a Date with God and the free trip around the world 🙂
Great post, three things worth waiting in line for? I am at that age where I hate to wait in lines and it always seems to happen to me. So, now I bring a good book wherever I go. Waiting in line for a concert would be worth it. 🙂

Great thought provoking post. Of course there are many things we would like to wait in line for that would satisfy our desires. But what about waiting in line to find the means to free ourselves of our inner demons and desires.
For me waiting in line to be admitted for treatment for psychological and /or physical attachments is number 1.
Waiting in line for a display of great art is number 2.
Waiting in line to see the loves of my life again is number 3.
You sure are patient 😉 I guess it wouldn’t harm anyone in the world to wait for someting once in a while. We’re all so stressed out and in a hurry all the time!

I like your quote “Things that matter are worth waiting for but, we don’t stop living while we wait” Oh so true. We waited for nearly 2yrs to sell our house in the UK before we could move to Potugal and we seemed to put our life on hold in the process. Looking back …what a waste!
At this point in my life, I wouldn’t wait in line to shop, or get someone’s autograph, or eat out, or travel around the world, or fly to the moon, or attend a concert, or go to a sporting event, or attend an exhibit, or get tickets for a TV show or movie, or . . .
I’m not impatient, but none of those things really interest me. Happiness is not “out there” waiting for me to find it. It’s right here, right now . . . in this magical moment.

Too much waiting for me already so I’m not contemplating any lists – but under normal circumstances – the trip into space would be my choice! Definitely would love to travel to another planet!
This a very thought provoking post, as well as creative. There is not too many events in this world, I find that I would be willing to stand in line for, as I don’t like being in large crowds, which I avoid when possible. I would stand in a line to meet a favorite writing author, for which I have many. I have many friends, who love the “Black Friday” shopping spree, as I have never gone to a one of these to stand in long lines at the check out counters!!
There are probably a few more I would be willing to stand in a line for, just can’t think of them at this time.

Thanks so much for dropping by and leaving your kind words! 🙂 I was out of it for a couple of weeks because I spent time with my husband while he was here, and after he left, I was too sad to do pretty much anything. But I’ve almost recovered now, I think, and I’m starting to miss the blogosphere. Have to do some weekend bonding with my parents now, but I’ll come back later to catch up on some reading.
