For this week’s Weekly Photo Challenge assignment on Abundance, I selected a few pictures I took at a busy farmers market (marché de producteurs), on a lovely Sunday morning, in Caen, France … I will have to edit them and add one more later. Also below, I added shots from the deer and ducks around my neighborhood. Last but not least, today is Spread The Word to End The Word Day. It is a day to bring awareness to our use of certain words that are offensive to others; specifically towards people with disabilities. The information is below and please read up on it and support the site that raises funds for the Special Olympics. Thank you! 🙂

Weekly Photo Challenge: Abundance - deer in droves...
Because of the weather conditions this winter, the deer and ducks linger around longer, foraging for food. The day I took the picture of the deer, there were two groups of about 20 deer (10 each) in our backyard. They were startled when we came home and then ignored us and went back to foraging for food. The ducks were at a local park and they completely ignored us. The duck photo was taken with a cellphone camera; hence the fuzziness… 🙂

Spread The Word to End the Word against using "R" word...
“Spread the Word to End the Word is an ongoing effort by Special Olympics, Best Buddies International and our supporters to raise the consciousness of society about the dehumanizing and hurtful effects of the word “retard(ed)” and encourage people to pledge to stop using the R-word.”
If you are unfamiliar with the issues raised by the Special Olympics and other group mentioned above, do check out their websites. Show your support by signing a simple pledge to not use demeaning words; especially the “r” word. There is much we can learn about matters that affect people with disabilities. What are your thoughts?

Beautiful fruit stand! Makes me want to visit our farmer’s market.
Thank you Nancy and it was called a farmers market with many local farmers gathering early with their wares. We bought fruits, food and some cider. The cider was so awful, it tasted like vinegar mixed with gasoline.
The next week, we went back and the farmer who sold the cider looked at us as if we had two heads…. je ne sais pas … he said. Oui, he had developed convenient amnesia. It was funny. LOL! 🙂 Otherwise, it was a lovely experience all around.

Mais oui! Fresh Cider is delicious . . . but Cider Vinegar is decidedly unpleasant, though seldom fatal.

we buy weekly a self made jam by our local farmer …
They are quite delicious and have real chunks of fruit and that home made flavor we cant miss 🙂

Love the photos! I especially like the ones of the ducks and the deer. It must be lovely to have deer in your own backyard! I’d love to see even one deer; I don’t think I’ve seen even one deer in my life.
Yes, it is lovely until we think of lime disease and the fact that they demolished my garden… my tulips and more. But, these guy are fearless and they are kinda adorable… 🙂

Oh yes and there was cooking going on and music. It was quite hectic. I took pictures of stands that had a handful of people around. Most of the truly colorful ones had too many people around and I wanted the fruits and veggies not people in the shots… It worked out somewhat. 🙂

I’ve never been to Caen but I did visit Mercat de La Boqueria in Barcelona last Spring and your photos remind me of that. It was such an amazing place. Abundance is the perfect word!
I love that word Abundance too… I’d love to see your market shots in Barcelona. I bet they are stunning. Actually, I’ve noticed that no matter where in the world, markets are always so colorful and rich and I enjoy those types of shots… all that fun activity. 🙂

I love the farmers’ market! And it looks like you found a lovely one there in Caen!
Yes, it was in town and even though it was a chilly day, we had a lot of fun. I took a picture of the huge paella pan at one of the stalls. We bought some and ate it for a few days. Oh the memories… 🙂

I love shopping at our local Farmers Market, fresh fruit is so delicious ! there is always unique foods to choose from, and a variety that gives you so many choices. It’s totally an awesome experience. 🙂
Farmers markets are the best because you know where the produce is coming from and can chat about what fertilizers they used and all… love it 🙂

That is so true and because they want to sell off their perishables, you get a chance to negotiate and chat and enjoy the outdoors. Love markets 🙂
