Rhapsody in Ten Takes: Bidding February Adieu…

28/02/2011

“You simply will not be the same person, two months from now, after consciously giving thanks each day for the abundance that exists in your life. And you will have set in motion an ancient spiritual law: the more you have and are grateful for, the more will be given you.” Sarah Ban Breathnach

Rhapsody in Ten Takes: Thank You!

At the local nail shop, the lady sitting at the booth next to mine lifted her right hand; nails nicely manicured and painted a bright shade of peachy orange. “I love this color so much!” she announced, a tad loudly, as a huge smile spread across her face.  As other heads swiveled in the nail shop to see what color she spoke of, the lady continued her ode to peachy orange nails. “I can wear it with all of my clothes; it matches everything in my wardrobe…” She paused, then delivered her punch line before returning to the task at hand; “I really love this color because, you know, it makes me happy!” We nodded our heads in unison, it made perfect sense… Hey, if it makes you happy, go to it… and say thank you!

It is with the same vision that I look back on February and our Daily Post Challenge. We made it through! In December 2010, hundreds even thousands of us made a commitment to join forces with WordPress.com and write a post daily/weekly in 2011. We galloped away in January and now, as February wraps up, we can applaud our individual and collective effort; it’s all good.  So here in ten takes, like an Oscar acceptance speech, I say a huge thank you to/for the following:

  • To Erika and Scott, for leading the blogging troops through our daily paces with prompts, tips and lots of good stuff. What they do is not easy especially when dealing with creative folk with differing visions. Thank you!
  • To the folks behind the scene at WordPress who make this all happen; offering us new templates, new tools, the magic of Zemanta, and ways to make the blogging process run smoothly while answering our Help requests in under 24 hours. Thank you…
  • To all my blogging buddies; new and old friends, who continue to like, comment, blog away, writing on a wide range of subjects and finding ways to keep writing, online and off, even under trying circumstances. Thank you…
  • To my silent visitors; all 5 million of you, who stop by daily to read, skim, scan, linger on this blog, sometimes letting me know through other venues that you have been here. Thank you… 😉

“I would maintain that thank you is the highest form of thought, and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.” G.K. Chesterton

Rhapsody in Ten Takes: Friends Dancing...

  • To my social network friends on twitter, facebook, linkedin, digg, blogfarm, blogfrog, stumbleupon and many others elsewhere, who, in their own way, give me feedback, encouragement, ideas and positive feelings. Thank you…
  • To my sistahs on the SITSGirls, Blogger, MamaKat’s, Ishtar friends, yoga, meditation and prayer connections, who offer another approach, another fresh point of view and more. Thank you…
  • To my mentors, spiritual teachers, and writer friends who challenge me daily to keep at my writing goals online, and especially that offline project, and for reminding me why it matters. Thank you…
  • To the many top bloggers & web mavens whose daily posts, tips, workshops, webinars, seminars, website help and insights have helped and continue to help me along the way; Darren, Seth, Jacqui, Frank, Brian, Jennifer, Jonathan, Daniel, Kim and others; male & female.  Thank you…
  • To my family and close friends who, daily, remind me what is truly important while offering insights, support, love, humor, prayers, perspective and respect. Thank you…
  • To my Creator whose abiding grace sees it all and coaxes it out of me on paper and online… and never lets me give up. Thank you!

A lot has happened both online and off this month. The global turmoil, natural disasters and shifting political winds continue and we are all concerned; sending light & love for positive outcomes.   Superbowl XLV produced a champion. The Oscars delivered on favorite winners. Oprah and Iyanla buried the old hatchet. I buried the fear and started a Blog hop with no regrets.

My new blog template gives me joy and, despite some other challenges, I found that nothing beats focusing on the good and simply writing daily. Brevity remains my online goal and, even though I’m a night owl, I’d like to wrap things up earlier and get more rest. Like the lady in the nail shop, I love writing/blogging because it’s therapeutic and it does make me happy. Thanks to all in our blogging community! 🙂
What about you? How has February treated you? What are your thoughts? Do Share!

      Hi Nancy,
Thank you too for your excellent posts! I remember when Sarah first appeared on Oprah in the 1980s, I ran out and bought her book and used it everyday as a journal guide. I wonder how she’s doing of late. Not much is said on her website but I still love her powerful message. 🙂
      Thanks,
      Eliz

Thank you Vivian as we are card carrying members of the mutual admiration society. Thank you very much for the support as it is truly appreciated. I know it’s not easy for any of us to show up regularly as other business gets in the way and commitments call so I do appreciate your friendship. 🙂
      Merci!
      Eliz

You began with Sarah Ban Breathnach who, along with Oprah, totally changed my life. There is no way you can keep a gratitude journal of any sort and not see a shift in your life. I am forever grateful for that. And, very grateful to have found you.
    Thanks!

      Hi Barb,
I knew you would love this and between the VW and Sarah, I’m on a roll of your favorite things. LOL! Remember her in the 1980s on Oprah? Sarah had a huge impact on me too because I remember her journey well. If she could turn it around, we all have no excuse. 🙂
      Thanks,
      Eliz
