Everywhere we look there are storms brewing and spreading; in nature and man-made. Winter snowstorms here at home; families cooped up, in cabin fever mode. Explosive events in Egypt; protesters clashing, people hurt, and families worried. Flooding and cyclones in Australia; storms and strife around the globe. Global Poverty. Inequity. Futility. Shifting Comrades. Our nerves are frayed, our hearts unsettled, we wonder what our fate will be .
Across the globe there is a growing shift of power, it seems, a call for rejuvenation, a call for movement from the status quo. How do we brave the sea winds of change? How do we face our fear against the storms?
We must believe the roiling sea will calm and the storms will settle down. For it is the very law of nature, confirmed by history, that all tremors will eventually stop. We must remember our brothers and sisters around the world and support them with our goodwill efforts; hold them in our thoughts and prayers. We must hold onto hope and the promise of peace that replaces periods of peril.
For now, the golden thread that connects all humanity pulls us closer; to our collective pain. But this too will change to healing. To everything, there is a season. Happy GroundHog Day? I have just lived through the floods and cyclones in Australia, and during both disasters, people held on to hope – in some cases, it was all they had. Belief in our fellow man pulls us up and lifts our spirits.; we all need each other.
Change is un-settling for most people, me included. However crawling under a rock and allowing things to remain status-quo are is not an option. A very wise man told me “if you are not failing you are not trying, if you are not trying you are not growing”. We must grow and stretch beyond our comfort zone if we want to make a difference in our lives and the lives of the people around us.

Devastating news from Egypt, and the storms striking hard around the globe this season. My prayers go out to all the families suffering. The power of prayer and hope truly keeps us strong.
These are challenging times and we need hope; lots of it.

I believe all the turmoil around the world is part of a master plan to bring us all together on a global scale. As I wrote recently, I believe social networking is succeeding in breaking down boundaries and unveiling the truth. The truth is that we are all much more alike than we are different. When we can eliminate the fear of the unknown we will all be better for it.

Hope…it is what keeps us going, even in the face of tragedy and disaster.
And perhaps…although some may say it is animal instinct…birds that fly thousands of miles, following the seasons and the eagle who prepares a nest on a high precipice, even before the egg appears…are exhibiting HOPE…that another day will dawn…that their young will grow and flourish.

Right now New Mexico is facing some kind of natural gas shortage and several towns are without gas at all! It is going to be a cold night, temperatures in the negatives! Pipes are frozen across the state (including my house).
I am looking forward to Spring!!!

I live in a country that has endured so many disasters, both natural and man-made. Through it all, the people don’t seem to lose hope, continuing to smile, and even sing. It’s beautiful.
