Perseverance: Seeing Each Blog Post Through the Challenge…

24/01/2011

“If you wish success in life, make perseverance your bosom friend, experience your wise counselor, caution your elder brother and hope your guardian genius.” Joseph Addison

Perseverance: Fly faithfully and diligently... Success is near

The daily challenge of posting on our blogs calls for periodic motivational refreshment. I think the poem below will help nudge us along the path. So far, we have conquered 24 days and have many more to go. Don’t despair, just hang in there… and if the going gets muddy, take a break. Here’s to our collective effort to date! Hurray! πŸ™‚
Do check out the 30 writing quotes from our DailyPost 2011 Challenge leader for additional motivation. πŸ˜‰

See It Through by Edgar Guest
When you’re up against a trouble,
Meet it squarely, face to face;
Lift your chin and set your shoulders,
Plant your feet and take a brace.
When it’s vain to try to dodge it,
Do the best that you can do;
You may fail, but you may conquer,
See it through!

Black may be the clouds about you
And your future may seem grim,
But don’t let your nerve desert you;
Keep yourself in fighting trim.
If the worst is bound to happen,
Spite of all that you can do,
Running from it will not save you,
See it through!

Even hope may seem but futile,
When with troubles you’re beset,
But remember you are facing
Just what other men have met.
You may fail, but fall still fighting;
Don’t give up, whate’er you do;
Eyes front, head high to the finish.
See it through!

This is a call to action to see it through! It does take a lot of effort and commitment to stick with anything that matters to us and the DailyPost 2011 challenge is not so easy. So far, I have used a variety of approaches to tackle each daily effort and I find that any creative method you use; be it photos, poems, quotes, recipes, essays, haiku, anything really that helps you stay connected = success. Go for it y’all! πŸ™‚

How is it going for you? What are you doing to stay focused? Do Share!
Positive Motivation Tip: Don’t Quit! Persevere and before you know it, the end will be near.

    It is difficult to stick to the commitment of posting everyday. It’s actually the reason I chose to to join Post A Week rather than Post A Day. Posting at least once a week isn’t tough; I find that I’m posting 3-4 times a week. It’s great that you’re committed to posting everyday. Keep it up! Your attitude towards your blog and even other writers’ blogs is encouraging! πŸ™‚

      Thank you for the kind words and support. like meets like and you are the same way. πŸ™‚ Yes, I am recognizing that the daily post will require more work especially if we wan to maintain our niche goals… whatever that means.
      I took up a similar challenge a few years back but it was about reading a book passage and writing a daily journal; but I didn’t have to log on to do it and it was easier… πŸ™‚

    Thank you, Eliz..,
    Just when I thought I couldn’t go on anymore with this daily post, I read yours…very encouraging.

    And the fact that you quoted Mr. Guest…he was my grandmother’s FAVORITE…she cut his little poems from the Daily News every day. I actually drew a blank as I finished tomorrow’s post this evening…not knowing what I would write about for the next day…but thanks to you and Edgar Guest I do…I will write about my grandmother…a VERY special lady!

      Hurray to your Granny and I bet she is smiling from above. Yes Viv, this is turning into a real … CHALLENGE.
      I believe that finding creative ways to push through it will be key. You know what? At the end of the year we will be amazed at the collective effort. Stopping by shortly. πŸ™‚

    Thanks! This was something I needed – and it has nothing to do with a daily post or even trying to close on the house…life has its ups and downs.

    your quotation β€œIf you wish success in life, make perseverance your bosom friend, experience your wise counselor, caution your elder brother and hope your guardian genius. Joseph Addison β€œ – that is a reminder for my thoughts about TEAMWORK: you need many different behavior structures to come through …

    This poem can be applied to so many things. Very useful – thank you for sharing it!

    Hi, Elizabeth! Another lovely post!
    You ask, so… in my on-going quest to find timesavers for the daily post, I’ve discovered re-blogging and scheduling publishing! Tomorrow will be the first test run. I set up several mini-posts that will publish over the next 3 days, to buy myself some time to work on more extensive ones.
    Kudos to your dedication!

    I know I said the below on your other post but I think it applies here as well. Life is about the ups and downs and those who persevere do succeed.
    I imagine you have your struggles and still you find the inner resources to encourage othes and uplift them.
    Maybe that is the key to perseverance – pushing through our pain to help others.
    Life is about ups and downs; like people in our lives come and go and the true stay around.
    I bet you’ll see it with the blog challenge; some like others giving them support but they don’t give it in return.
    Others will drop out entirely because of life’s demands and then some new friends will appear and the steady ones will stck around.
    That is life β€” yin yang meets perseverance meets compassion meets love.
    B

    One of the main reasons I have stuck with the postaday challenge is having the support of wonderful people such as Eliz. Her thoughtful comments and the consistancy of her encouragement is truly inspiring…thank you Eliz.

    I also know that I need to work out a more managable system as I am still spending 3/4 hours a day on my blog. Having rarely seen my bed before 3am, I know that for the sake of my sanity…and thereby sticking with the challenge…I need to cut down this time considerably.

    I had intended to make my weekly posts much shorter, with longer ones on the weekend. But then I start write and I always seem to get carried away!

    Good luck to everybody. Only another 339 posts to go!

    The days I’ve been struggling are those where I’m out of the house for 14 hours. By the time I’m home I’m exhausted and am ready to fall into bed. So I consider blogging in the morning but I have yet to make that work!

    My schedule should lessen a little after today so I should find it a little easier to make the time no matter how I’m feeling. πŸ™‚

    I just wanted to say that I am thoroughly enjoying your blog and your outlook.

    I am not doing the post a day challenge, as I am just seeing it here for the first time, but I commend you, it’s a significant undertaking.

    I saw in your bio that you also have twins…it’s quite a wonderful and crazy ride but I wouldn’t have it any other way and when I see inspiring words like these and others around your blog, it’s like a little sign from above to say even if it’s one step at time, keep going…

    Keep up the great inspiration and motivation!

    • 28/10/2011 9:39 pm

      Thank you for your kind words… I must confess that it has been an all consuming challenge and I might not have committed to such an undertaking at another time in my life… I am grateful for the experience and the people I’ve connected with… including you.
      As for the kids, our twins keep us on our toes and help us stay young… Enjoy yours! πŸ™‚
