Who knew… I was checking out blogs on Freshly Pressed when I came across a post that caught my attention. It was a post by my British homeboy; TheBoyEllis Blog. He gave his blog a bit of wellie by sending out feelers to test the Blogging buddy avalanche that has been part of the DailyPost: PostaADay/Week challenge.
He was hoping for some blogging action; the proverbial comment love via a committed buddy. Instead of getting a buddy or two, he got gobsmacked and featured! WT* WoW! I started to leave him the usual supportive blog comment: Kudos! Congrats! Blah, blah, blah… You mf rat, you fab music lover you 😉 and on. I was especially happy for him because he was/is truly appreciative (read his follow-up post) of the love coming his way from the rest of us. 🙂 As I was signing off, I wrote “Have a…” and the phrase “Blogalicious Year!” popped in my head.
Whoa! I thought, I just coined a new word … but, I better Google it to make sure before claiming ownership of the word; like my dearest, talented sisters – Bootylicious & Fabulocity claimed their special words. Hey, we all deserve to coin our special words. I checked in with Google and sure enough the word loaded; all 42,100 of them. 😉
Lo and behold, I found a whole site – MyBlogalicious.com – run by a group of savvy blogging ladies who have built a community devoted to celebrating diversity in social media, and dedicated to the fine art of supporting multicultural women bloggers. They even have a movie – Be Blogalicious: The Movie – produced by Tyler New Media….showcasing highlights of a Blogalicious weekend. Also, plans are in the works to hold the next Blogalicious 2011 weekend/conference in Wash, DC. Do pay them a visit and peruse their offerings.
As for TheBoyEllis? I ended up writing “Have a Fab year!” as the sign off to my comment. He got well deserved props from FP for giving his blog a bit of wellie. He’ll understand… He’s English. Pay him a visit, read both posts and leave a comment – they are spot-on!
And the wackiest advice I ever heard? If a word pops into your head, it’s all yours baby. Claim it and copyright it… yeah right! Double check first … It depends! Have a Blogalicious Year all of you! 🙂

Absolutely… I come up with words all the time only to find out someone else had the same thought. I am often even told that my made up words are not real and I am fond of pointing out who says Dan Webster and Cambridge have a monopoly on what is and is not words? After all, don’t they just write out the stuff they are hearing around the world anyway?
So true… New words become part of every day conversation as more people use them and we are are all able to add words to the social exchange. I like the idea of new words gaining acceptance. Keeps the language fresh. 🙂

And yes, several times I have thought…AHA! What a GREAT word (or idea)…only to discover that many many many people had been on the same page before I even opened the book.
For example, in my new book, which has an eco-friendly slant to it, I thought about putting a little green bee flitting from craft activity to craft activity to point out that it was a “green” activity. And I thought the caption under the bee should say, “Bee Green”, instead of Be Green…I googled “bee green” and found pages of little green bees…oh well…great minds think alike. 🙂
Oh so funny and true… I love the Bee Green story and you should put it in the book anyway. Great minds do think alike! 🙂

A wise person once said to me, ‘there’s no such thing as an original thought’.
When we are ‘in the flow’ and linked to the universal mind, it stands to reason that we will channel some of the thoughts, words and ideas floating around in the ether!
How many times have we thought of an ‘original’ great idea that we choose not to pursue at that time, only to find further down the line that someone else has come up with exactly the same ‘orginal’ idea…and made it a reality. So I guess the process works in advance as well.
BTW – love the Green Bee story!

Haha it’s funny you use the term “Blogging Buddy Avalanche”.. That one blog from DailyPost spawned a TON of visitors, new subs and new friends 🙂

I love how vastly the buddy system has been taken up – it really seems to have helped network people so much more!
