Happy Thanksgiving: Recipe For A Special Thank You…

25/11/2010

“Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.” William Arthur Ward

Happy Thanksgiving to all: May the landscape of your life be bountiful...

Today is a day of gratitude and thankfulness for all the blessings we have enjoyed this year. It has been a tough year for many of us in many arenas, and we will be remiss to not add a prayer of goodwill for all who are suffering, experiencing loss, and in need a bountiful harvest. Please think of our friends and family who are away, our troops, the sick, the destitute, others who are alone during this time of celebration, and send them a heartfelt prayer or goodwill thought. 🙂

I would like to also use this special occasion to say a huge Thank You to my readers, all who stop by to comment or just read this blog, my fellow bloggers, my SITSGirls SITstahs, my friends on the various social media communities, work related colleagues, friends online and off, family and more…

Naturally, MakaKat’s Writer’s Workshop prompt for this week is about … Thanksgiving! She offered a handsome selection for all of us to choose from and write on. Of the five selections listed below, I picked #3 because I liked the idea of creating a thankful post somewhat differently. I used to write poetry when I was a teen and in college but somehow, life got in the way… The below is a quick way of saying Happy Thanksgiving and sharing what I am thankful/grateful for. I know this is a busy day in the USA, and my friends around the world would be at work or doing other things; I send thanks and joy to all by keeping this post short and sweet.

Mama's Losin' It

It’s Thanksgiving time and the show will go on!
1.) Interview your kids…what do they think Thanksgiving is for? What are they thankful for? etc.
2.) Share a photo of what Thanksgiving looks like in your neck of the woods.
3.) Write a poem about the things you are thankful for.
4.) Describe a memorable Thanksgiving.
5.) Forget Thanksgiving, write about that time you fell down.

WHAT AM I THANKFUL FOR?
My recipe of thanks will have …
A vat full of love,
Endless cups of life,
Pounds and ounces of friends,
100 ladles of family,
9 tablespoons of health,
1 teaspoon from home,
Sprinkles from everyone,
Bowls of everything that uplifts humanity,
Carefully fold in scoops of our pets,
Mix in the power of prayer and
Add God’s immutable grace…
Stir with gusto and enjoy!

Again, these are the things I’m grateful for; love, life, friends, family, health, our home, everyone, everything that uplifts humanity, pets, the power of prayer and God’s immutable grace…

To share your thanksgiving goodwill, join Oprah’s A World of Gratitude and add your voice. There is a beautiful holiday globe on the site and “Each snowflake represents a single grateful thought from people around the world.” You can read this informative article on Thanksgiving 2010 Myths and Facts via National Geographic, and you may also take a moment to watch a short movie from Simple Truths: May You Be Blessed. The short is quite lovely and should help set the tone for the rest of your day.
What are you thankful for? Do Share! Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Holiday Season!

Positive Motivation Tip: Every gesture of kindness; a thought, an action, carries a seed of thankfulness… give generously.
