If Lost…Stand still – Arrangement by David Wagoner
A native American Elder was asked,
“What shall we do if we get lost?”
Stand still. The trees before you and the bushes beside you are not lost.
Wherever you are is a place called here,
and you must treat it as a powerful stranger
both asking to know and be known.
Listen. The forest whispers,
“I have made this place, you can leave and return once again
saying, here.”
No two trees are the same to Raven,
no two branches the same to Wren.
If what a tree or a branch does is lost on you,
you are truly lost.
Stand still. Listen.
The forest knows where you are.
Let it find you.
When fear calls… Stand still.
Divine guardians comfort you
Winds, Storms, turn within…
Wherever You are…
Pray, Sandy’s dark storm be still.
Blizzards, Black outs, keel…
Hurricane Sandy’s Path: I wish I were … here… however, “Wherever you are is a place called here” at least, I am home. As the winds howl around our home and the heavy rains beat down on us, I cannot help but acknowledge how powerful nature is and how much we depend on her grace for each moment … for each breath. Mother Nature continues to show her might in a complicated universe with divergent desires and right now, the word – compassion – comes to my mind…
When will we start showing all of our fellow men and women compassion and respect? The winds and the rains don’t know what color or creed we are. As they sweep through cities and villages, they will spare or tear asunder whatever stands in their way… regardless of our political leanings or personal prejudices. We are all human first, let’s start from there and just show we care. Stay safe and give a helping hand to a neighbor, a stranger, a friend today. More below!
