Writing Challenge: How To Keep Love In Your Heart…

I. Have An Intention to Love More
When I read this week’s writing challenge,  I knew it was time to go back to StripGenerator and create some strips as part of my How To project for this post.  As I mulled over a number of topic choices,  I was reminded again that the subject of love never gets tired or old.  We recently celebrated Valentine’s Day and while some of us enjoyed the festivities with the usual; chocolates and jewelry, others sat home reliving old hurts or reminiscing about loved ones who’d passed away. I feel that even a small shift  in our intention to love more, would be a great way to help us all move forward.

II. Practice The Action Steps Listed
If you read the strips, you’d see that  the group  learned about the concept of love and developed a list on how to keep love in our hearts. What I loved about creating the strips is that I had to give the characters clear and specific roles, and then make sure that the words they spoke and ideas shared were consistent.  How do we keep love in our hearts? The  following actions; forgiveness, compassion, helping and sharing, and self love, will not only open our hearts to love fully again but they are important tools for life. We can start with forgiving ourselves and those who have hurt us. A while ago, I had an unpleasant exchange with  someone and every time I saw them, I would feel a twinge of  hurt and anger. When it be came unbearable, I knew I had to let it go by forgiving the person,  letting the event go, and forgiving myself. We must honor both sides.   More below!

Reflections: Your Heart Knows What Counts… Flowing Heart Water – Mirth and Motivation

Kindness in words creates confidence.
Kindness in thinking creates profoundness.
Kindness in giving creates love. Lao Tzu

What really matters to you? What truly counts? If all the glitz and glamor are swept away, and you must turn to what will sustain you, what will you choose? What counts for you? Kindness, Life, Love, Laughter, Longevity…? Health, Happiness, Home and Hearth…? Friends, Family, Funds, Fame…? Drop the shame of failure… We all fail at something. You count. Your Heart Knows What Counts…

“When you love you should not say, “God is in my heart,” but rather, “I am in the heart of God.” Khalil Gibran

Nothing you love is lost. Not really.
Things, people –
they always go away, sooner or later.
You can’t hold them,
any more than you can hold moonlight.
But if they’ve touched you, if they’re inside you,
then they’re still yours.
The only things you ever really have
are the ones you hold inside your heart. Bruce Coville

We all want to be loved and respected for who we are and as we are; flaws and all… and that is fine. But we must love and respect ourselves first; hold love inside our hearts. Seek a higher, spirit love. The rest is fleeting. Your Heart Knows What Counts…

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch,
a smile, a kind word, a listening ear,
an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring,
all of which have the potential to turn a life around.
Leo Buscaglia

To turn our lives around demands standing in the glaring light of truth about who we are and be at peace with it. Be kind to others but stand in your own shoes. Many are swayed by a mob mentality and follow blindly, like the misconceived idea of lemming “mass suicide,” for fear of being ignored or not liked. But which truly matters? Living your vision or living another person’s dreams and decisions? Your Heart Knows What Counts…

“The most wasted of all days is one without laughter.” E. E. Cummings

Reflections: Your Heart Knows What Counts… Flora in Purple – Mirth and Motivation

To find the best in others,
to appreciate beauty,
to laugh often and much,
to leave the world a little bit better,
whether by a healthy child or garden patch,
to know one life has breathed easier because you lived,
this is to have succeeded. Ralph Waldo Emerson

Encouragement, laughter, love, compassion, kindness, appreciation, gratitude, and giving others the benefit of the doubt enrich us as much as it enriches others. Cancel out the noise and choose how you use your gifts to help others… many approaches exist. Your Heart Knows What Counts… To create your own photo collages, go to pixlr express. More below!

“The heart has reasons that reason does not understand.”  Jacques-Bénigne Bossuet

In Poetry & Prose: The Heart Is Where The Head Finds Solace…
Over the years, it has become clear that my heart has never misled me or guided me to do things that didn’t help me grow… I think when some read the WP prompt, they think of love and passion and such matters of the heart; these are valid but not the entire picture of the promptings of the heart. When the muse comes calling, it engages both our mind and our heart as we can’t do the work without both. When we produce inspiring work, or help a sick neighbor to their door, or feed the cat and walk our dog, we follow the promptings of our heart and use our head to do the rest … The heart is where the head finds solace.

“Follow your heart, but be quiet for a while first. Ask questions, then feel the answer. Learn to trust your heart.” Anon

When I left my birthplace to move to a foreign land, it was the calling of my heart that guided me and took me safely to that new shore. My head encouraged me to stay when challenges stood in my way, and while I swayed this way and that, and hummed and hawed and whined a lot, I never turned my back to the fact that my heart held steady and calmed me. It took some time to adjust to this new land, but my heart assured me I will not go astray. Then my head and heart completed the affirmation by helping me stay focused on my chosen path … The heart is where the head finds solace.

While we may sometimes find that love took a wrong turn, and passions waned when lovers strayed, we still must listen to the ticking of our heart for it never leads us astray. The heart can give us nerves of steel, for it is in the heart where courage dwells. We cannot be like steel flowers; all mind and words with little rasa… we must include the heart … The heart is where the head finds solace. More Below. :-)
